not sure if this information is too late.
Anyway HMC temporary accommodation is at two sites/options
1. Al saad; very close to hospital 10 minute walk or short drive to Hamad General hospital.
Good clean apartments. central location ; Very easily access to mall; shopping; restaurants.
these are 2 bedroom flats
2. Barwa city. These are a bit further away. 30 - 45 minutes drive at peak hours of traffic. I have not been to the apartments; but i understand they are newer, and bigger ; and I think they have 3 bedrooms.
You might be staying in the temporary place for months before you permanent accommodation is allocated
First of all Happy feet, I am very sad to find out about your experience. From your explanation of your condition I think you should have just gone to Hamad hospital Emergency department immediately. There is no need for any appointment; you may have to wait may be few hours to be seen; but if you were very breathless you would have been seen by a doctor more or less on arrival. (depending on the assessment made by the nurse on your arrival; you will be prioritised ).
My guess is the person who spoke to you was talking about a regular outpatient appointment for non urgent cases or routine follow up reviews.
Now Julie, yes had is the best healthcare provider in qatar with some world class expertise and facilities. yes it does have its flaws as well. It is a public sector organisation like the NHS in the UK. Nominal fees are charged for treatment ( unlike NHS which is totally free).
I do not know what your condition is. If it is not a live threatening condition ; yes you may have to wait few weeks to months for the procedure to be done.
I am looking for a school place for my 11 year old (year 7) in Doha for 2015/16 year. So far Sherborne's response has been positive, DBS has agreed to do an assessment and not very positive from Parkhouse .
If offered a place in all three::( i know its a bit too optimistic) which is be the best secondary school.
I have visited all three; the location of Sherborne and the drive there has put me off a bit; I live in Al sadd area.
The reviews I could find has been mixed; though generally very positive about Sherborne. It is the most expensive of the three. Is the extra 20K + hassle of getting there worth it?
Would really appreciate any advise.
