Hello:). I just thought I'd tell you that I had exactly the same feelings before. I have a 2 years old son and would like to have the 2nd someday and also I had to give up my career to follow my husband's job change. Traffic here is mad in my opinion but it is pretty safe like others said I think. Also thousands of expats have given a birth here:) Things are still not settled for me yet and starting new life in a different country is a bit tough but I'm trying to be positive. It's funny that the conversations with people here always start with "Where are you from?". This place is that international. You can meet so many kinds of people. How many people can get this opportunity? You will be very far from your family, but hey, you have the internet! Also you can always go back home if you really want to. Life is short, you should enjoy! ;)

@Bristol2AD Thank you for the info! WTC mall is actually very close to where we are going to move in, so we will definitely check that out! I am glad to know that there are some indoor play areas that do not cost so much :) And having "me time" is probably the most important thing! hehe I started to go to a playgroup held at St. Andrews church also. I liked it since the atmosphere is open and cozy and most importantly, my son loved it. Anyways, we will go check WTC soon so we might see you there;) Thanks!

Hello ladies, are you all in AD this summer? I arrived on August 6th and have been wandering in AD with my 2yo son. We've been to several main shopping malls already and I started to getting bored (we are still staying at a hotel apartment so not much to keep ourselves busy yet).. We need to get out but only options are really limited. How are you spending daytime with your kids? I have no idea what other moms do with kids during daytime. Pleeeaaaase give me ideas!

Didn't think I'd see you here again! :) I'm glad you got there safe. How was the flight? Your concerns are exactly the same concerns I have. We'll be moving to AD in August. As my husband starts his work right away, I'll be lonely with my 24months old son. I don't think my son will allow me to stay at home all day. I wonder how people with kids spend this deadly hot summer season. Hope there will be good advice here!

Hi there Sunshine2015! We are currently living in Japan but there is a very high possibility that we are moving to AD in a few months, so I understand how you feel. Also, we have a 23 months old son:) We have had international flights with our son 4 times now. It is not easy to fly with an active boy but you can get through with it ok I am sure! Just a couple weeks ago, we visited AD using Etihad so I wanted to share my experiences. I'd say do not expect that your flight has nannies. I knew they had flying nannies service but crews just treated us normally. No one told me that there was a nanny. However, they provide kids a packet of entertainment (activity book, color pencils and stickers) which I haven't experienced from other companies before. It was good. Generally, I thought the crews are very well mannered and friendly. Here are some of the things what we always do before flight; 1. Buy some new toys/books (hide them until you get on the plane) 2. Download some of my son's favorite cartoon shows and movies to a tablet pc (I guarantee it's worth buying if you don't have one - you can use it at so many places) 3. Wake him up earlier on the day of the flight 4. Let him play in the play area in the airport until he gets tired (so that he has a longer nap on the plane) I hear some parents give their kids medicine to make them sleep but I am not so keen on that. I hope you find this helpful. Please let me know if there is anything else you want to ask. I assume your flight duration is about 8 hours. I am sure the time will go much quicker than you think. Have a great flight and enjoy the new life in AD:) We might get to meet somewhere over there! ;) (Sorry about my English :-/ It's my second language..)

Hi there! I'm new here and haven't even been to Abu Dhabi.. There is a possibility that my husband will be employed and we will live there, so we will go there and check out the place from this Sunday. I'm thinking of joining the Monday meeting next week and have a question about the location; When I google the name of the cafe, it shows 2 places. Is it the one at the Sky Tower? I do not want to show up a place where nobody is so I just wanted to check. Thanks!
