thanks, i am going to go back and argue with them, as i have pointed out to them repeatedly, there is no condition yet! and hopefully there wont be! let's see how that goes. am also trying to find out about going down the government route and am not yet getting any joy over the phone as to whether a clinic or a hospital would be the people to do it...

Yes was wondering about doing that. I don't know though whether the new company would still deny it based on the fact they have seen a request already for a CT scan of the pelvis. Just checked the price of paying for it myself privately and its nearly AED2500!!!!!!!!

Hi, we're based in AR and need to find a new home for our helper, she is 45 from the philippines, has worked in dubai for several years for european families, is lovely with our 2 young children. Well we went during the soft opening, and were very impressed. Excellent food, top service, our waiter knew the menu inside out, was very upfront from the start about the lack of alcohol/pork due to the licence not being finalised (theyre expecting it imminently) and a great vibe to the place with nice lighting and classic 80s tunes in the background.... Agree its not cheap though, but our verdict is we will be back...

Debs Debs, my DS used to be at Hummingbird, the sleep room is excellent and certainly when he was there, there was always someone sitting in the dark in the sleep room. You mean the one on the left as you go in right? There may be moments when there isnt anyone when lets say one of the children woke up and was taken back outside...but on the whole it is attended. I can't think why they would have taken the cot outside though, that I definately wouldnt be happy with. Is Josephine still running the baby area? She would be most sympathetic. Keep pushing the manager to make sure that you get the set up you want, for the fees they charge it should be the top of the top in terms of set up! good luck, its tough when you first put your LO in nursery, but at least there you can pop in during the day, i used to...assuming that you work in DIFC?

agree with Bella - stays on well but you see gaps at the bottom where your nails are growing!! and the colours i have been shown are all a bit shiny for my taste :)

i just moved my 2 Ds from there to Building Blocks in Motor City. They were happy though at Step by Step, we decided to move them for 2 main reasons - 1. class sizes and child/teacher ratios - classes too big and not enough staff to children, and 2nd, we need a true all year all day facility which this is not. Step by Step's new director Helen is superb though, and if she is given enough leeway will do a great job. Building Blocks has much smaller classes with lower ratios, and has a great enrichment centre for all day children....the only thing missing is a big outdoor play area which is scheduled to be built over the summer. So to answer your post, I would go and see both and see what you think.

we went for a night just recently with 2 young kids, booked 2 interconnecting rooms...don't expect super stylish, but the rooms are spacious and its beautifully quiet, and also colder than Dubai when we went! food ok, order the curries for dinner. staff extremely helpful and welcoming compared to the multi starred hotels in dubai!! overall its a nice escape and has a nice down to earth feel about it. definitely need either passports or ID cards for the check points. enjoy!

Where is the Chi salon going to be? I couldnt see where it could be when i drove past the other day....Sam D i think we need more details please..the hairdresser wouldnt be a certain lady by the initials of MD would it?? we'd love a decent hair salon over this way!!!

1 teacher and 1 teaching assistant. For that age, ofsted rules are 1:6. For my 8 month old it's 1:2. They will also have extra floating helpers around for meal times and big nappy change times.

Guiness - it clearly is open as my son is there as we type!!! As I said it is not a big nursery, my son is 28 months, and there are 9 in his class up to a max of 12. I like that a lot!!

We have just moved our 2 ds there from step by step, ds1 starts today and ds2 who is 8 months starts Sunday. They still have a bit of work to finish off, but I think it will be a lovely small nursery which I prefer. Small class sizes and ofsted ratios for teacher/child ratios. They are currently looking for a suitable chef in order to provide food, and they are aiming to build a proper outside area over the summer months. All staff are qualified early years teachers, and all seem to have the right attitude. Secure entry system etc, all day all year cover as well for working mums, with afternoons part of the enrichment centre which also sounds very interesting. So fingers crossed we made the right decision!!
