I am looking for a UK trained mediator for the financial agreement part. Even if you know someone who is on a career break but is qualified, that would work. I can't seem to find anyone in any of the Dubai law firms. Thanks

I think I mean fair for the parents and the kids. The ideal would be 50/50 but that is why I was asking as with a pilot, how do you make that work? My kids are over 12, so their opinions/activities, etc... would be taken into account too. There must be a lot of you out there in this situation (after all pilots are not known for lasting marriages!), so please share so we/I can have an idea of what is feasible to start the negotiations with....

Have any of you ladies been through a legal separation through a mediation lawyer here? DH works for the airlines. My lawyer told me she deals with a lot of cases from the airlines (what a surprise!) where in order for the wife and kids to stay in the UAE and continue to be under the airline's umbrella , they have done a separation for now and not told the airline. Any of you been through this? How does it work in practise? Obviously one of us may want to get remarried, but we are thinking of putting a date limit on the contract, to coincide with the kids finishing school and either of us taking the option to leave. I have grown up here, so there is no home country to go to though we got married in Europe.

The last Botox eve was with Al Shunnar plastic surgery. I was so impressed with Dr Buthaina, I have since had Botox and fillers. Very natural and she is more likely to say "no you don't need it " rather than push you. I like having a woman do it, I feel she has more empathy, sorry, don't remember the price as I had laser done that day as well (get all the torture done in one day). I found her details on the cosmetic surgery page. It's very personal, but I would feel a bit suspicious about anything medical with a Groupon voucher....

It is nice food, but I wouldn't say it's worth 400dhs. If you want to watch the polo, the sun is in your eyes. I usually pay the 100dhs to drive onto the field for a picnic, you can bring your own food and drinks, much more fun!

I am thinking of getting 2 windows (type 9) replaced with sliding doors. Has anyone done that? Did the house fall down when the wall in between the windows was taken down ;)? And the million dollar question... Can you recommend someone to do the job (well)? Thanks

I would beware of the Facial clinic. If you do a search you will see that the guy is not qualified as a plastic surgeon and has been in trouble with the authorities in the past. To be precise, the law here allows any medical practitioner to do botox, but the fact that he has been doing other things which he was not allowed to does not inspire confidence!

A friend has used them and they are the only ones who offer some special kind of hormone treatment (too complicated for me to remember!). I was in the Marina and drove past it, looks like the real deal. I believe they also do all kinds of health checks, but my friend didn't know about those.

Haha, love the thread title! I can second the dental spa, I did see that they offer men's hair removal. I went there myself over the summer (not for that area!) and it was the 1st really non painful laser I have ever tried, I guess that is important for sensitive areas. I got a good deal on their happy hour. I just got a mail saying they are having another happy hour on Wednesday 26th. I can let you know the details if you want.

I second Spa a la maison. Very professional, clean and I also thought the massage was just the right intensity. What a treat to have someone come to you. I suggest having your massage in the evening, that way its not long before bedtime ;)

Dear Mgibson, I have a horse for sale, she is a lovely ex-polo pony. Sadly she has lost vision in her left eye and cannot play polo any more, but she would make a great riding horse. You can contact me at fortune @ mailme.ae

After seeing Kalm mentioned here, as i live on the Palm, i decided to try it out. I just had to let you know that I just got back from the best scrub and full body massage. It was amazing, Such a nice atmosphere, the ladies who own the salon are just lovely. The clients having manis and pedis looked like they were enjoying it. When you have a massage, you not only choose which oils, but what music as well.... That is a first. I saw a notice saying they are doing 20% off this month. Their prices are pretty reasonable anyway, but it all helps! Enjoy.....

Funny, I just came back from there. I am having a pair of riding boots made. He quoted me 2500 to copy a pair which are 7000 in the shop. It is quite a technical job, so we will see..... He was very thorough and made about 60 different measurements. They are near MArina furniture in Al Quoz. Will post the results in about 4 weeks.

From the school: "Dear Parents The school is closed today as a mark of respect for the sudden and tragic passing of Mr Ed Hall. Our thoughts are with his family and friends on this sad occasion. The school will re-open tomorrow Monday 17 October. We thank you for your understanding. Mr Jonathan Price Head Teacher "

I have heard from a couple of sources that Mr Hall has died of a heart attack. He was head of KS2. We must spare a thought for his wife and children. And, I think we should make sure we live today to the full....

Funny, I was just thinking today, that I must post about the company who just did my move. We used the BOx http://www.theboxme.com/ and they were brilliant. Not sure if you are moving within the UAE, but they offer 3 levels of service depending on what you need and your budget. We went for the Gold one and didnt have to lift a finger. They also have storage which we used for a few weeks.

I use Imagine education for both children and am delighted. I have the tutor called Matt and he is fantastic. I told them about EW and they advertise here now http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_Learning_Support_Imagine_Education_5694.aspx All legal and above board. They come to my house, but I think they also have weekly workshops for small groups. They employ school teachers who must be supplementing their income or other qualified teachers who may not be working.
