No I don't believe having a British Passport you have a certain level of Turoring Brilliance!!! But from my experience some Tutors here in Doha are advertising their Tutor services and have poor English!! This is why I'm asking for a British Tutor who is aware of the IGCSE's system. Not saying that if you are not British you do not have a good level of English!! just saying from my own experience. But all that aside, I think I'm in my own right to ask for a British Tutor, if that is what I require!!

Hello, I live on Mirage Compound and have NO complaints here!!! It is a very friendly compound with lots of small children. I have been here now for two years and think it is ideally placed where it takes 20 mins roughly depending on traffic to get anywhere. Probably less to Villagio Mall which takes 10-15 minutes!! I wouldn't count on DC as a guaranteed place yet? Unless you have had confirmation on this in writing! I believe they have only just closed the post for applications. They will now have to look and see who they would like to assess? Schools here are a nightmare to get place!!! Limited spaces in all schools!!! Good Luck anyway.

Kimmc3 Can you please explain how there is a difference between IGCSE's and GCSE's? Didn't realise there was much difference, well this is what I was told and that collages and A level students back in England will accept IGCSE's students as equal to GCSE students.

Hi Kam77, I experience with Compass- my daughter is at Madinat Khalifa. I feel the primary and lower part of secondary is good!! My daughter started in year 9 as this was the only school that replied to me at the time!! I feel compared to other secondary schools it lacks facilities of other secondary schools here. On the plus side very small classes only 30 ish in the whole of year 11. My daughter gets on with most of the teachers and is doing ok. Not sure whether she will gain the GCSE's she needs thou? As from the past two years the GCSE grades haven't been great!! They also have an IB now, but I'm not sure how that is going, this is their first year of IB Students. Hope this help, it's not a bad school, but I think it lacks facilities that I see of other schools, well that's my opinion on secondary, not sure about primary? There seems more primary than secondary students!!! edited by julie1234 on 10/11/2014

Fantastic News if you have got both of your children into Sherborne!! Schools here in Doha, Qatar are very stressful for parents!!!! DC is a very popular choice here, children need to be very academic to pass the assessment test at DC!!! ." I do believe if your children are academic they will succeed in life!! Most of the schools here have good and bad reputations, depending on who you talk to....." edited by julie1234 on 21/03/2014

As long as your child is a high achiever they will be ok!! They take your money for assessment, then tell you if they have scored high enough for your child to start, depending on whether that year as a high degree of academic children!!! So I've been told!! edited by julie1234 on 23/10/2013

On a big board at the school fair. This is 2012 results not 2013. It may have been a v small class though. It was a fairly acceptable A-C passrate given the cohort (and a mile above other schools in Doha that are apparently very academic). Ok. thanks, it's just that I have an year 10 pupil at the school who seems to be happy there, but wasn't sure on their reputation in getting the students through to achieving GCSE's! At present thou my daughter has not started back with Compass, due to a problem with the school and the SEC. Only year 10's and 11's!! Still waiting to hear if they will be going back to school on 15/09/13. Not a happy parent!!

I've have friends who rave about them and friends who have taken their children out in disgust. I'd happily send me children there if it was my only option (although I don't think the facilities justify the fees really) and they had decent GCSE results last year. There are schools in Doha whether I'd either leave or homeschool rather than send my children to (and I work so homeschooling isn't something I'd take lightly) but Compass isn't on that list. I know they're full though (at least for the younger kids) although there is a general shuffle around happening at the moment. Four children in my son's class just didn't turn up at the beginning of term. Given how many parents are desperate for school places in Doha I find that really inconsiderate. Why not take 5 mins to call/email the school to say you're not coming and another child can get to start on day 1! How did you find out their GCSE results for last year?

Hi Scottishzimbo I have just arrived in Doha, we applied to about 6 Schools before we came to Doha by email to request if they had any places for a year 9 girl. Most of them did not reply, some had a waiting list and was not accepting anymore to the list. The only school that had spaces were Compass International School on the Madinat Khalifa campus. They have a website, just goggle it! I think they have about three campus sites. They were very helpful when I applied. My daughter started two days ago and seems fine at the minute, fingers crossed!, But this can be a nightmare!
