Dragging up a very old post but wanted to add my piece. Just had this happen to me, 18mnth old DD drew biro almost all over our very large and expensive leather sofa. I used baby wipes straight away and they removed all of the ink. Phew

Sounds like you'll have a blast if you do a stopover on your way to what DH calls Winterpeg LOL! (I'm current sitting in the departure lounge waiting to start my journey to Canada (different part to you)) I think I'd rather be doing the other part too!!

Where are you heading to (just being nosy :)) Actually heading to Winnipeg to spend xmas with DH family. We have to fly through Toronto so thought we would stop over for a few days. Never been to Canada before and thought I would hate to go all that way and only see Winnipeg (which isn't the most exciting place in Canada!!) Although am looking forward to a massive WHITE xmas!!! Will def rug up and just make the most of it, the kids will be excited the only snow they've seen is ski Dubai!!

Thanks Emm9, I have done a bit of research too and have decided that we could probably spend a few days there as a stop-over point

Executive Towers in Business fits your budget. Its brand new, 5 mins (if that) to DIFC so close to your DH work. Worth a look for you I think. I live here with my family and am very happy.

Yes everything Lady Bubbles said!! Also the location is awesome, very central, close to great mall, restaurants and good night life. The outside still looks unfinished ie the road systems, landscaping etc but once those are finished its going to be awesome.

Spinneys are the worst. C4 are good. Choitrams ok. Eat and drink restaurants do a good one. Which eat and drink do you use LB?

in my mind :D there is a big empower building that makes the cold air by chilling water, the air then travels through the pipes to us and when we have the a/c on we get lots of it blasting, but when we don't we still get 'fresh air' which is the same chilled air but a tiny percentage of it (it seems like it is this which is not happening today) - that's why we get charged a flat fee for empower even when no a/c consumption because we are still paying for the fresh air... is that how it works? :D I love how you said we pay for fresh air hehe

ok i see what you mean...that's weird you would think that if it is down in one tower it would be in all. and you would think if the chiller system is down how can the a/c be working *insert that chin tapping smiley* :D i think our whole tower's chiller is down because when we went out this morn the lifts seemed a bit hot/humid. but how can the a/c work surely it gets the cool air from the same chiller??! argh. huh?!

Welcome Lamy. (have never seen a maid in a pool or anyone with clothes on!) Is anyone experiencing weird things with the cooling system today. Not the 'a/c' but the fresh air seems to have stopped - our apartment seemed humid when we walked back in?? anyone else feeling the same?? Not today but sometimes we have that problem where the chiller stops for a few hours. Maid B you recruiting today ;) Welcome Lamy!

To be honest, I think the whole show is a joke. Seriously, if these people have dedicated so much of their lives to becoming a chef then why didn't they just go and get an apprenticeship and start at the bottom and work their way up. Its just a ridiculous reality TV show. Although that doesn't stop me watching it everyday!!! And to answer your question, I would hope that they would have worked out the immunity challenges before the competition started and that they wouldn't have know who was going to up for the challenge every week, but yes, they do seem to varying on difficulty each week. Lucky for some I guess.

I need recommendations for at home mani/pedi and facial services. I don't mind if it is two separate services or one. I am scruffy from scrubbing our new home and need a bit of help. I also do not drive yet. I need after hour care so that dh can watch the kids. I found a few by searching but they were from over a year ago. Thanks! I have used brush and co for home mani/pedi not for facial though. I don't know what their hours are but you can look them up at http://www.brushandco.net/

I got a very long one in Satwa, just a random curtain making shop. Must be about 4 metres but they actually had to cut it down from an even longer one so that might be worth a try. I tried around 3 different shops in Satwa and because each one quoted me a silly price (2500 dirhams) i couldn't even be bothered to play the haggling game. Felt like they were taking the ****. Ideally that's where i'd like to buy as it's round the corner & i KNOW they are cheap. Can you remember which shop & how much you paid? Just for a guide? No worries if not & thanks for the help No way it was that much!!! I can't remember exactly but it was only a few hundred dhs.

I recently had a piercing done at SOS Beauty Salon in Town Centre Jumeirah 043491144. The staff were great and I would happily recommend them. I don't know what other sort of piercing they do but you could easily call them. HTH

is the antiques warehouse pram friendly? Or toddler friendly? No and No! Millions of things for little fingers to touch and the aisles are very small for a pushchair and it's dusty and dirty. Very interesting though! Great or not so great!
