I have 4 children and LOVE having 4. I have no home help and I don't think that this is really that inspiring since at "home" I wouldn't have help so why would I have here? My DH and I continue to do as we did at "home", everything by ourselves with our 4 beautiful children. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have a 17mnth old and we love to hit the beach early, as in 7:30amish. They're normally up early anyway so why not get out. We take drinks, snacks and shelter and stay for a few hours then head home for nap time. Its great and I look forward to it every weekend and the water is heavenly at this time of the year.

Did you get your money back without any dramas? Yes, no dramas and they were very apologetic. However, they did say they had a huge problem with the codes on the oranges that day because they had heaps of people coming back. If you bought Egyptian Navel Oranges from Carrefour MCC on Sunday then I would check your receipt!! I too will be checking EVERY receipt before I leave the store now!!

The pants have no logo and are a standard navy/pinstripe. Since you have daughters they will be wearing the navy/pin striped culottes. The blouses have a logo and are a set style. The yellow polo shirts the FS's wear also have a logo. The hats have logos also. The swimmers are navy blue and almost all children wear the same bought from Zaks. The sports shorts are navy no logo and the sports shirts are white polo with a logo. I have no idea if you would be able to get any of the uniform pieces from the UK. All uniform pieces are available from Zaks. HTH

Well I wouldn't exactly call myself seasoned but I will try to answer your questions!! My DD's only started in October last year so they missed out on being brand new at the start of the school year. Yes, I have found Zaks in Jumeirah to be the best one stop shop for GWPS. I haven't bought school shoes from there though so can't tell you how they are. I wouldn't buy the uniforms yet because I know my DD's will outgrow them before Sept, especially shoes. Bags, hats etc won't be a problem obviously. My DD's didn't start the school in FS1 as we only moved out to Dubai last October so I can't tell you exactly how they ease the FS1's into the school environment, however I have found the teachers to be extremely helpful and nurturing with both the students and parents. I'm sure that the FS1 program has an "ease in" method they use for the first few weeks. I'm sure you would get a much clearer idea if you contacted the head of the FS department. Her email is on the GWPS website under meet the teachers. I have found all the teachers I have dealt with to be extremely approachable. Personally, I have found the best point of contact to be my DD's teachers. As I said before they are very approachable in the mornings and afternoons at drop off or pick up or if its a query that requires more time they are available for a scheduled meeting. My email is juzzrach at gmail dot com if you would prefer to email me. There are probably more "seasoned" GWPS parents that may provide other information about starting FS1.

I have a DD starting FS2 but she did not attend in FS1 so will effectively be new at school. I also have 2 other DD's currently in year 3 and year 1 there now.

Does anybody live in the villas down there? We are looking at the 4 bedroom ones and to be honest, they are lovely. Anything I ought to know??? Thanks janesul, I live in a villa but not one of the podium villas. Most people aren't aware that the podium villas are not the only villas here. The podium villas are the stand alone ones. There are also apartment/garden villas which are at the base (level 1) of the towers. I am in a villa at the base of tower M. The apartment/garden villas are substantially bigger than the podium villas, although still only 4 bedrooms. They have almost identical layout to the podium villas just each room is on a much larger scale. They also have smaller versions of the podium villas (don't know what they are called though) in the base level (level 1) of the towers. The villa nextdoor to us is only a 3 bedroom and quite a bit smaller than ours. We were not aware of all of these differences when we were being shown through by the various dodgy estate agents. They obviously hadn't seen any or didn't know what they were talking about and its now only having lived here that we know what is around. HTH BM, have you not been over yet? Come anytime you know that :)

Hey JR. I have terrible skin (as you know) and I see Sally (beautician who comes to your house) every 5 to 6 weeks. She uses the Beauty Lab range and I see a big difference. I use the face wash and microdermabration creme daily/weekly and she did a mild chemical peel last week. The pigmentation is almost completely gone and the acne and scars are slowly disappearing. Very happy! Bianca72, I never noticed you had bad skin? She must be great then!!

Have a visitor in town and want to go for a nice lunch on Friday. Most places will have brunch, I know but we just want a simple lunch. Was thinking somewhere in Madinat or Souk Al Baha or somewhere that is a bit touristy. Any suggestions?? TIA

A reliable and efficient cleaning agency and preferably the name of the cleaner you recommend. I have been avoiding getting a cleaner in once a week because I am a control and clean freak and like to do things myself. However, the time has come to get a little help to clean up after the 5 animals I have living with me (ie DH and 4 DDs!!) TIA ;)

I like shopping at Promod at Mercato. Very helpful staff (will even play with your kids while you try on!), excellent range of basics and great summer range at the moment, and IMO not too expensive.

Hi and thanks for all your advice. I used Auscreen and Australia Cancer Council creams back home, never had any issues with them. I think I will get someone to bring me some when they come through. Have to search for a meantime one though.
