I'm sorry I cant help, I have nothing to offer but I am paying close attention in case it happens to my DS. However I would suggest you join mumsnet.com and have a read of this whole [url=http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/teenagers'>teenagers[/url'>forum. There are many people on there who can relate and advise and reassure you will come out the other side ok. The best advice I was given was consistancy, pick you battles and remind them that you do love them but you really really dislike their behaviour. Good luck. Thank you for the website! I was reading through the threads last night and can see its going to be a great resource!

we've recently hired a maid so that i can get out and do more, look for a job, go out at night with my husband, spend qualilty time with my daughter and dogs. we decided to hire now so that the dogs are familiar with her before i head off for the summer. anyway she is really great, started a week early and didnt want paid for first week ( i of course will pay her) . my daughter loves her and so far she is perfect in everyway. my problem is i cant let go of doing things. i still like to do bath and bed time and feeding the dogs myself, and no way is anyone else cooking for me, my maid looks at me like i am crazy, but i just want her to clean and babysit when needed, think i may be a bit ocd though, she offered to take my daughter to park this evening and i agreed this time, but while they were out i cleaned, and it felt great! even though house is spotless, i still have this urge to do everything myself. i've lived on my own since i was 16, so may take a while to adjust and learn to relax and enjoy the fact i dont have to do all the running around. think my maid will have some adjusting to do too, she even thought she should come with me on the nursery run and that i could just wait in the car. anyone else had this problem or am i on my own here? just got the little one off to bed, normally i'd be ironing now, might get a glass of this wine stuff i keep hearing about! I'm with you! It definitely took [u'>A LOT [/u'>of getting used to for me. I really enjoyed doing things for my family and have only been able to very gradually let go of some things. We're only a few weeks in as well so it's a bit of an adjustment period for both her and us. Good luck to you! edited by Kaba on 02/03/2012

ah bless you, you sound like I did... I would send him away to family or grandparents also when I needed a break..... its not your fault, explain to family his boundaries and ask them to support yoiu... discreetly of course... as he will not like it.... my heart nearly broke after a particularly session with my son, when he took himself 110 miles to his grandparents to explain what a horrible mother I was.....without a ticket and on a train....... and my father put him a bedroom for a weekend and told me to have a weekend relaxing! when I did collect him, my father told him very clearly.... don't turn to me, shes your mother but my daughter too and no one makes her cry! Grow up! I felt like a little girl again, but so supported.... reach out, most parents have gone through it, and honestly (bragging again) he is an absolute catch now... very successful job and a great support to all the family..... you'll get there! Thanks so much for your posts wendyone, I was feeling so overwhelmed and alone today and reading these has really given me hope! I'm so glad that things with your son worked out for the best. It's hard being so far away from family. We've allowed him to spend time with his grandparents for extended periods but my mother will wait on him hand and foot and he will speak to her very disrespectfully, so unfortunately spending any time there is not going to benefit him.

Hi ladies, Constantly swearing at us, slamming doors, creating conflict, arguing, talking back, etc. Aha. That is mine, but he is only 13.....crikey, where will we be in 4 years then? The only thing that I can suggest, is to keep him busy, really busy.........sign him up for anything he will go to.... I really do not think you are alone, there must be others suffering as you are. Have you spoken to him, during one of his quieter moments? Have you explained how exhausted you are? Hi Al Quwatain, yes I have tried to speak with him when he's not upset or angry. He is that lovely little boy again here and there and he apologizes, tells me he loves me and he won't act like that again, but an hour later that is all forgotten. I have told him over and over these past few months how exhausted I am but I just don't think he sees it. He thinks that we (his parents) are the problem. All we are expecting from him is to speak to us in a respectful tone, as we do to him. complete his schoolwork to the best of his ability & on-time, and have a few chores around the house. He's definitely worse while his dad is traveling as well, as he is today.

Hi Sparky, Our LO was born at City hospital and they requested we bring in our original marriage certificate (I remember because DH had to run home specifically to get it). However, they only ended up needing a copy. They never asked for our passports, or even copies. If you are delivering at City I would highly recommend using a service to handle the birth certificate. I can't even remember what it was called but it was great, they told you exactly what was needed to complete the birth certificate, they came out to our villa to collect all the documents and deliver them to the next step, and then when the birth certificates are complete, they deliver the back to your villa. I think the cost was around 300dhs but it saved us a bunch of time and hassle. Maybe give City a call, DH seems to think that someone working in that dept told him about it. Hope this helps.

Thanks purple. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? She is really lovely and a hard worker but we have never had a maid before and just feeling like this really isn't for us. However, I don't want her to have to leave the country. if she came through an agent then return her as soon as you can, they will find her a new placement hopefully. No, she is not through an agency. Her Visa had been cancelled by previous sponsor as they were leaving the country. So she was in her 30 day overstay. She had found a position with another family but they hadn't processed her Visa and then quite suddenly couldn't sponsor due to a change in employment status. We already knew her a little and wanted to help really thinking this was going to be a great fit. However because of the small amount of time she had left on her grace period we had to get her a new entry permit rather quickly. Now I feel terribly guilty but I just don't feel like this is the right move for our family. And don't know what my next step is (cancel her Entry Permit or leave it until she can find another sponsor)

We have a 5 month old LO and are so pleased with the Angel Care monitor (bought it from Babyandme.net - but must add I was not impressed with the customer service from them - we waited over a week for delivery and even though I called and left voicemails asking the status of my order, no one ever answered the phone or returned my call which was extremely frustrating). It was 550dhs through them, I would recommend buying it from Bumble Bee in Dubai Mail if it's a similar price. Our LO grew so quickly and we had to move him into his room at 4 weeks. Just knowing that I could wake in the middle of the night and look at the handheld unit and see the little pendulum swinging was so worth it for me. When they are so little you wake up all the time checking on them and I never would have gotten any sleep if I had to go into his room each time. I've noticed that I'm also especially grateful for it now at 5 months, he loves to roll over onto his tummy and stay that way. With this monitor I don't have to worry about him doing that. The only issue I've had is that I've found the range isn't very good but to me that's a small price to pay for peace of mind. Edited to add that the Angelcare has a great temperature monitor. Not only do you always know what the room temp is but you can set upper and lower limits so if the temp changes to out of those ranges, an alarm will sound on the handheld unit. edited by Kaba on 20/02/2012

We used Splash N' Bounce for my DD's 5th birthday. I was very impressed with them (professional, showed up right on time, required no direction while I was busy doing last minute party prep, etc). We'd definitely use them again, the kids had a great time. Can't remember the price but it's on their website (they bring tables, chairs, balloons, bouncy castle, face painter, and cotton candy machine). For window sunshades, try WindowSox. They're mesh-type shades that fit over the outside of your window and cover the whole thing so no sun sneaks round the sides :). They have a Facebook page and I think I paid 180dhs for two. They come in different sizes for different cars. I second the WindowSox, they are great! Provide excellent shade and are easy to get on and off.

Dr. Rosalie Sant at Primavera Medical Centre 04 375 4699 (a few blocks from City Hospital). She is amazing, professional yet friendly and very patient. I had to have an emergency c-section in the end and she was encouraging and kept me calm. I believe she specializes in high risk pregnancies.

Just to update because I'm so impressed... My LO had such bad exzcema this week I got him into see a dermatologist (Dr. Ilkramullah Al Nasir @ Dermacare). His skin was was red and inflamed it looked almost like it was burned. Less than 24 hours after the doctor prescribed a mixed combination of lotions, his skin is perfectly clear, soft and healthy. My DH returned home from a trip and was completely amazed at the transformation.

My LO has severe exzcema and I read an article recently which there was a study done using a teaspoon of bleach in a bath for children suffering from severe exzcema. The results were so dramatic they even had the placebo group of children try it. This same thing was also just recommended to me by my LO's pediatrician. Just wondering if anyone tried this and if it worked?

I am followed by dr. George Michailidis who now delivers at City Hospital (but is based at n9ne medical). I have not delivered yet, but went through a D&C (after missed miscarriage) and a CVS with him so far, and had none of the problems often reported during/after such procedures, receiving also a very good "psychological" support from him. My husband and I actually think he is an excellent doctor and would recommend him for any pregnancy at risk. I am delivering next week through c-section (my stubborn choice, he was not pressing me in this direction at all). edited by GattaMatta on 10/11/2011 i'm with dr sant @ primavera medical clinic - love, love, love her and she's totally pro natural birth. however, i cannot sing dr george's praises enough. he's helped us through a very difficult time, and is simply an amazing man. good luck with your delivery next week x I also love Dr. Rosalie Sant @ Primavera! Was with a different doctor through City directly but didn't feel confident with her. I changed to Dr. Sant and felt so comfortable with her & confident in her abilities. We had planned a natural birth but ended up having to have an emergency C-section. So glad I had gone with Dr. Sant, completely trusted her and everything turned out wonderfully. Good luck!

My baby will still be delivered at City but I don't have to deal with the difficulties that have plagued me getting an appointment with a doctor there. Sorry, can't be of any help regarding doctrs the Dubai Mall Medical Center.

Sorry to hijack, but I was going to post a similar question relating to isofix anyone driving an Nissan Armada- say 2008 onwards? I'd like to know if they have isofix and/ or anchor points. We are moving back from NZ in jan and bubby number 2 will have made his enterance needs a carseat and I'm wondering if I can just use our maxi cosi with a isofix base or I'm better off using DD1 carseat with top tether strap for bubs and getting her a new one instead. We used to have a 2006 Armada at one point but having no kids at the time I never paid much attention! And yes.. I have googled it.. just want some in the dxb confirmation=-) Thanks chance We have a 2008 Armada LE and it [u'>does not[/u'> have any anchor points. Really shocking since it's so new. But with the Isofix base and the seat belt you can get the car seat nice and tight. edited by Kaba on 31/08/2011

My DD had this when she was just under 2yrs old. From what I remember it was considered highly contagious and she couldn't go back to daycare for a week. I would definitely keep my other child home if I were you. You would feel terribly if someone else's child got sick. Hope your little one feels better soon.
