NEW UPDATE So off we went to Emirates Headquarters.Arrived there after finally finding our way in to the car park. Took the ticket so we could PAY on the way out DH was not impressed and added it to his list. Found where we were going, only to be greeted by a couldn't care less receptionist. She told us to take a seat, then just told us to go and sit in another room no manners whatsoever. We sit and wait and a gentleman comes to see us. At first it seemed he was just going through the process of recording it, but the more we told him the further his jaw dropped. He agreed with everything we said and more. The outcome is 5 Emirates staff from UM are now under investigation, this should now take 2 weeks max and we will know what they are going to do about it all. Will let you all know what happens.

UPDATE Well been on and off the phone all week to Emirates, we are now on the complaints list with a ref no. It can take up to 30 days to sort we were told. Told them we are not happy with that and are now seeing somebody at 7am tomorrow. So fingers crossed all will go well. Will update tomorrow with hopefully a resolved situation.

Hi woodys, we are thinking of going to look at these particular villas at the weekend, have you looked at them at all? If so what are they like, any feedback would be appreciated.

Could be something as simple as a water infection. I thought I was pregnant once and that's all it was. Quite a let down really.

I too was wondering where it was as well. Now it has been said I do remember last year it was only once a week, but it didn't start until Ramadan last year. I do miss it in the mornings :(

You don't need to exit by plane, just do the Oman visa run. You now go through 5 checkpoints, in the 5th you pay your money and turn around and come back. You will have to get out once on the way there and once on the way back. We live in AR and it takes us about an hour to go there and back. Also pay in OR, it's cheaper.

Both I think!! Also to cut down on the people who complain as well. How many people can go in to complain Sun-Thurs, most are at work and need the weekend to do this. We are not at all happy.

Just realised, didn't even ask where you are flying to, saw the BHX and assumed it was there. If it is BHX when do you fly?

Very hard to totally get rid of. You can put ant powder in the top of the nest so that any ants coming in or out will take the powder wherever they go. Put powder inside your sliding doors to stop them coming inside, especially in the winter when it's damp and going to rain, they seem to know and come inside eurgh!!! Apart from that not a lot really. Good luck, you seem to hate them as much as I do.

It gets better, we were told to go in to see somebody on Saturday, so we duly went, only to be told when we got there that they were closed on Friday AND Saturday!!! DH was not at all impressed. So we now have an appointment in a couple of days time. I suppose it all adds to their bad customer service.

I also had one, not a pleasant experience as mine kept growing. They decided when it got to 3 inches wide they would take it out. Was so glad when they did. It was a new but simple operation to remove it and I was awake the whole time. Only took about 15-20 mins. It was then sent to the lab just to make sure there was nothing untoward about it. Good luck.

Hi Kavsmum, Could you please let us know this turns out. My Children fly as UM's about 8-10 times a year. I have not had a problem so far and had felt this was something I could rely on Emirates to get right. I do hope that this is still the case. Here's hoping you get a positive response from Emirates soon. Ali.k Will let you know ASAP we are going in to see somebody on Saturday, so fingers crossed all will be sorted. This is the first time we have had a problem as well. Hopefully it's a one off.

The plane wasn't quite full no. They do give them 3 seats normally, but they booked a man in next to her knowing she was an unaccompanied minor. They said they could not move the man because he was with his family, which was wrong because he was sat next to our DD.She ended up sitting next to a lady whose 2 children were on the other side of her.So she ended up sitting next to their mother. Whether it was the father sat next to my DD we don't know yet.The service we recieved from unaccompanied minors was unacceptable.I would not want anyones child to have to go through this.

Great minds think alike :). We have done exactly that!! Got our side at T3 unaccompanied minors lounge, DD side from start to finish and also the texts she sent to me from the airport lounge and the plane. Will keep in mind the press as well as a back up plan.

We have friends who live there, they seem to like it. You have the community swimming pools, a new Spinneys, quite a few other shops too. Plenty of space to walk the dog. We have always seen lots of families when we have been there. Hope this helps a little.

I know costa on the palm was open, but I think it was about the only one! The one at the Ranches was too, until another shop complained even though Costa had a license to open. The one at Silicon Oasis was too, perhaps cos it's a seperate unit. Went there last year a couple of times and saw an Arab buying his drinks and food, in his Arabic clothing as well!!!

It all depends on where you go. Mall of the Emirates, Kempinski Hotel ground floor is always open for food and drinks. They even put on a special Ramadan Brunch during the day, everyday, it's all just curtained off. Dubai Mall, the hotels there food and drinks are available, same with Festival City. Some Costas open, they curtain it all off as well. Any others you find are a bonus. There is always somewhere to eat and drink during Ramadan. The food courts are normally open for children only and you will get a warning if you share their food.

We live in a 1m, have just had our DEWA bill and it's AED147 for water (we have no grass at all) and AED1333 for Electricity. At the moment there are 5 people living here. This has risen AED900 from last month, but this is probably cos of the extra 2 people here, only normally 3.We have our a/c set at 18, medium fan speed or low sometimes and when the room is cold we turn it off. Seems to work for us.

Hi, I have complained using the in-flight form, I got a reply from customer.affairs@emirates.com So I guess you could write straight to that address with your complaint. Good luck! HTH Thank you, will try that route see where it goes.

It was for an unaccompanied minor. She has flown on her own twice now so knows the drill. It was a disaster from the start. Booked her seat, they tore her ticket up when we got there, then put the new one in the folder so we didn't see that they had moved her. Minors are supposed to go on the plane first, she was still sat in the lounge at 7.50, the plane was due to leave at 8.05. The reason, nobody available to take her to the plane. Then she was sat between a lady and 2 children the children belonging to the lady apparently!! So duly went to unaccompanied minors to complain, where we were told she will be ok she's got a tv and if you don't like it fly with someone else!!! We asked for a complaint form and were given a customer feedback form which they expected us to fill in there and then and leave it there, Don't think so. There was a whole lot more said as well, but to say we are not happy is an understatement!!

My DH ordered something from the uk it duly arrived the next day with a AED151 customs charge. The package was 4.50 kg. Yet we had something ordered 3 weeks before that was twice the weight and no customs charge!! So lucky if there is no charge.

Have seen some on Dubizzle today in your price range. Did you particularly want and end one? Alma is lovely, depends if you want to live that close to the mosque. As yorky says have a drive round some are direct from the LL so you could save on agency fees. There seem to be quite a few moving out of Al Reem 2 at the moment. Good luck :)

Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel :) Brilliant!!! there is a petting zoo, face paints and all sorts of other things for them to do. Plus the food is amazing. It's a 7 day a week brunch and you only pay for children under 12 on a Friday. Plus there is a voucher in the Entertainer fine dining.

Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, children 12 and under are free as well. Plus they are in the fine dining entertainer book. If you don't have the fine dining one only the family one you can register the card that came with it and print it off without buying the fine dining one :)

Ladies another thing to add to the Ranches... My DH decided to go for a swim last night around 9.30....After 15 mins he came back to the house white as a sheet which was strange in itself cos he is pakistani lol.... Anyway he said he was getting out of the pool and he said there was a spider at the edge of the pool the size of his two hands ...now i knew he wouldnt exagerate cos he is not wimpy with those kind of things at all cos he has to do all that stuff for me because I would have a cardiac.....He called the Lifeguard who tried to catch it with a net AND IT WAS TOO BIG FOR THE NET HE HAD TO GET A BOX meanwhile he said the lifeguards GF/wife was hysterical and she fainted...So be warned they do exist meanwhile I am going to be jumping everyitme I am outside now.Majorly FREAKED out Where in the Ranches was this?

Ahh brilliant thanks - that sounds grea - were they expensive? its for a 3year olds girls party - 20 kids invited They do a smallish one for AED105, we had the 2 layer cakes at AED140 each, says it's for 20 but easily 35 people and then they do a triple layer not sure how much that one was. We actually went in on the day to get ours but there were some that had been designed waiting to be picked up as well. Would recommend them to anyone. Ours what we have left is still fresh from last Friday :)

I also got diagnosed with acute sinusitis :( was given antibiotics because I had an acute ear infection as well (but the wrong antibiotics, so had to have another course). Was given Ocean Spray to use first, once in each nostril twice a day, then half an hour later another nasal spray which was Otrivin. This all also led to Vertigo which was not at all nice!!! Then also had to take tablets for the Sinusitis which were Ciprogen. The relief was amazing. Was told by the Doctors a lot of it is down to the A/C here. Hope it all goes well whichever route you have to take, it's worth it to get rid.

We are only a family of 3, but we spend on average AED500 a week. Some weeks it's only AED250, so I put extra household items in as well. We do a lot of our shopping at Carrefour, but go to Spinneys for fruit and veg. Extras are always spent in the week, the same as anyone else, bread, milk etc. I have got into the habit of when I am in the UK I pick up loads of toiletries that are expensive here. Also about 20 kilos of pork as well :).

You get the 10 days grace anything over that you pay a fine for. As Amelia said do the visa run, only takes an hour. Gives you another 30 days.Good luck.
