We had an incident about 3 years ago, in Mirdif. Since then we have become very concious of windows and doors and I check everything before going to bed at night. Sorry this happened to you. You must feel so violated. It's not nice. I'm sure they will find the culprit...they did with us, but then DH managed to rip his trousers off as he esaped over the wall, so we had his mobile phone which helped them locate him. Try to relax and maybe head to ACE and get some extra security gadgets. Made me feel a lot better. We got little sticker alarms for windows and doors. You pull a little key out to activate them and when doors are opened, the alarm sounds off.

COOL!!! Had no idea there was a new one coming out! LOVED Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield. And yes, used to read Jess's antics and think I was such a bad-a$$, reading such racy tales. Lol

Agree with the replies below on not starting bad habits your bub will soon assosiate with sleep. But I have got SO much use out of my comfy feeding chair (which BTW is a cheapy from IKEA;-) ) Some nights...especially during growth spurts, I'd feed baby, fall asleep burping baby, wake up and feed baby again and so on...until morning. I know it's a no-no, but I've done it with both my boys, not by choice but for sheer exhaustion.

He has a dream feed around 10.30-11pm still. I wonder if I should cut this out and feed him if/when he wakes early in the morning instead? Or continue to do the dream feed. But just draw it out. Feed, change nappy s...l...o...w...l...y and then give him the rest of the feed. Do this for a few nights and then try doing it as normal and see if it helps.

If you want a sleep positioner... I've got one you're welcome to use. What I'd suggest though is putting him in a sleeping bag. Worked with both my boys.

Could you try waking him gently at around 10:30pm, change his nappy and give him a drink of water/bottle and settle him again? Or...try the method where you stir them up an hour before the time they are waking up. So if he's waking at 5:30 for example, stir him about at 4:30? These are all just things I've read...not actually tried myself, so feel free to laugh it off ;-)

I bought the teachers handbook for Jolly Phonics - it's great and has worksheets at the back that you can photocopy and use. It was exactly the same stuff that my 2 were using at school and it really helped me to understand how the programme worked. I now have 2 great little readers. If you'd like it you can have it for a song! Are you sure Claire, that is incredibly kind of you. I'm in Mirdif but can meet you wherever would be convienient for you. Could u drop me a mail? bellsdxbATgmailDOTcom

A few years ago SA put a new law into place stating no more left-hand drives will be allowed into the country. So it may be a huge mission.

Yes. Our landlord sold, gave us our deposit back and said to start fresh with new LL. New LL didn't even ask for a deposit off us and according to neighbours who left while we were staying there, they both got theirs when leaving. So it's not unheard of.

No, it wasn't Thai. Look on the bright side, there are some FAB places to go only a car drive away that would be just as fab if you do decided to change your plans. A girlfriend recently went to Al Maha for her "Babymoon" and loved it.

I think it's best to call the airline. But then again. It all depends on the day, who's on duty and what mood they're in as to what decision they make. Even if u getthe green light over the phone or at check in. You may still be refused boarding at the gate. A friend was refused on a flight at 7 months even with a doctors letter as according tithe person attue gate, "she looked very big and uncomfortable!" nothing she could say or do... Not trying to scare you. Just be prepared.

Hi summertime. It is reccommended by many professionals that you start with baby rice. You can get it at all supermarkets. Hipp Organic do a plain rice one and then also various flavours. Gina Ford has a great weaning book, maybe pick or up? I also loved and used to death, the Annabel Karmel Meal planning range. This time round I'm trying Baby Led Weaning as DS (6months) is showing NO interest in anything I'm offering him on a spoon. And today has been a huge success. I was far too nervous to do BLW with my first but now wish I had. Anyway, with BLW you basically let the child take the lead and go straight into finger foods. So I don't see why u can start with pureed veg/fruit. Sweet potato is a favourite "starting" veg, maybe try that.

I've always liked Co sleeping with my babies. DS 1 loved it too, but DS 2 was always happier on his own so I had him in a Moses basket on a stand beside my bed. At 4 months I moved him in to his cot in his room and he's much happier. The point I'm trying to make is, some babies just don't like co sleeping, so be prepared for an alternative too. It may also not suit your DH, so think about that too. My DH loved it, but I have had friends tell me their DH's hated co sleeping as were constantly woken by the baby's sounds throughout the night and thus went to work knackered. Also, as you will be going back to work quite soon after, You may get a better nights sleep if baby was in his/her own little bed. Then again, you may sleep better and feed easier with baby beside you. You will have to wait and see I'd say.

Babyshop is out of stock of Maclarens! Called MOE, DM and Ibn! Does anywhere else sell them? So, to the ladies who have a Triumph or Quest....even without the full recline - is the lowest recline position enough for a 2.5month old? edited by DC2DXB on 14/04/2011 edited by DC2DXB on 14/04/2011 If you are going to be using it for travelling and not have your LO in it for long periods and he will only be having a few naps in it, i don't see why not. The main reason for a full recline (I understand) is due to the fact that it's recommended young babies need to lay flat due to their developing, soft bones (spine). Honestly though, I have seen so many people keep their babies in car chairs for extended periods and this is supposed to be a real No-no. Not suggesting you ignore the reccommendations because others are of course. But I'd go for it if I was you. Or look on Dubizzle for a second hand Xlr or Techno XL. They're dead easy to clean and you could just buy the new padding bit to fit with it if that would make you feel happier ;-)

I nannies for a boy who started at Jess Jumeirah and I'm sure they just started fresh in Sept. That was a 5/6 years ago now though, so maybe it's changed. I may call and find out actually.

I wouldn't travel with it if I was you. I know I've sung this song on another thread, but seriously...get a Maclaren for travelling. Probably cost similar to the travel bag anyways. Before we travelled for the first time with DS (5weeks) I planned on getting a Maclaren. But DH put his foot down thinking I just wanted yet another baby accessory. Anyway, our lovely M&P pram got damaged on it's first flight:-( DH gave in and let me get the Maclaren. We have flown with it loads and after a good wash, it still looks brand new. They are amazingly durable. Everyone who has taken my advice and managed to twist their DH's arm into getting a "travelling Maclaren" have been very happy with it and some have even gone on to use it more then their original prams.

What makes the Maclaren good for travelling, KellsBells? I'm also looking for a stroller to travel with, one that is light and folds up small ... I was just going to buy a cheap supermarket one though ;-) edited by nix.dubai on 11/04/2011 nix.dubai the Maclaren is a lightweight umbrella fold stroller. I travelled with my first DS at least 20 times and found it a godsend every time. It's light and small enough that I could pop it on the trolley with my luggage and carry DD if I needed to (first in a sling and when older /heavier i'd stick him on the little parcel shelf part of the trolley or have him in one arm. It's also light enough that I could pull along a suitcase while steering DS in it with my other hand. It folds easily and single handed...which is great when you have a tired child in your arms. It reclines (the XT and a few others) so it's great if they all asleep. It's easy to clean and it's durable. Like I said, ours has travelled loads, been used heaps around Dubai and after a quick clean, looks almost brand new. One of our best buys by far. DS is now 3 1/2 and still goes in it at times.

I've always had fantastic service here. I once got a cluster diamond ring from Liali for mothers day. Lost a diamond and they replaced it, it happened again and they not only replaced it, but agreed to change the whole ring setting as I was concerned as to why the diamonds weren't staying put. I never paid a fil. Take it back and see what they say.

With my first my sister took over an forced it on him by gently just holding it in his mouth dispite him trying to spit it out. Once he got the hang of it, our lives changed. His reflux got better and he was a far more content baby. This was at about 6 weeks and I was BF. With DS 2 (who also had mild reflux) I gave it to him at 2 days old. He took it straight away and has never had any struggles with BF. He's less of a dummy baby then his older brother was, so I am going to try take it away from him earlier.

I'm just curious why you would need to go with a fake ip? Can't you just turn the cellular data off (so then it's either wifi or nothing)? Nope. This didn't work for me. It helped. But didn't stop it all together. The IP thing worked 100%
