If u can't find the owners... I might be able to twist DH's arm. My boys would love a bunny. Or I could foster it till someone came to claim it?

Agree with the swaddling. It worked for DS. Other advice, carry him around in his sling. Feed him when he needs it...it's probably a growth spurt he's going through. They usually last 3 days. Otherwise, make sure he's feeding and not just snacking. Try stretch him to 3 hours between feeds (timed from the start of the last to the start of the next). Get DH or someone else to hold him while you try stretching him. He will smell te milk on you an it'll be harder for you both. But even with the 3 hour gap, they take about 45min to feed at this age. So by the time you've fed an burped him and he has a nap. It's pretty much feeding time again anyway. It is hard work. But it does get better. When he's older he will manage to feed quicker and possibly go longer between feeds. So it does get better. Have u got a play arch? Both my boys liked to lie under one from a very early age. You could try one.

I have NEVER anywhere in the world seen people buy as many boxes of tissues as they do here!! :\: Agreed. And I am yet to find tissue boxes as hideous as the ones sold here...the ones with the tomato's and carrots just KILL me. I mean, really? ha ha, I buy those sometimes! Oops, sorry. But they are just terrible. What ever happened to pretty pink flowers or just plain colours. Actually, come to think of it, I've never been a tissue box fan. hmmm... this is going to sound soooo an@l but i just love having cloloured tissues here...green and purple and blue for the boys' rooms... lolol... sorry :) Oh crikey...Monika from Friends springs to mind. I noticed the coloured toilet paper in C4 for the first time the other day...purple, navy, orange...! Noice;-)

I think of myself as a bit wimpy but i had no pain relief and was absolutely fine and dandy no stitches no c section nothing i did have a mishap whilst pushing though Lol :) LOL. This was one of my biggest fears. After DS was delivered onto me, my first question to my OBS was, "Did I do one?" hehehehe... lol, and did you!?? haha Well, no. And to be honest...I was quite disapointed I hadn't. LOL

It's not called "Labour" for nothing ;-) hehehehe...trust me, once you are in labour - all you will be focusing on is getting to meet your precious little bundle. And once baby is born - all will be forgotten. There are many forms of pain relief, from hypnotherapy and aromatherapy to Gas and air and the wonderful epidural...read up on it and ask your OBS to explain it all to you. RELAX and enjoy this wonderful time in your life. Oh and...stop listening to others. How on earth people can tell you you will suffer from PND is beyond me. Tell then to get lost.

The salaries are reasonable considering they have accommodation, meals, transport and they dont have to pay for their visas like other companies. Also, they guys I have used before usually make more in tips, and this is where the job works for them. I am a big tipper, especially when they have got my car and me home safely. They stick to the speed limit, and are very courteous and polite. Ive requested one of their drivers for 1 month as a private driver, as I cant drive at the moment. There is a market out there for this service, and I will continue to use them when I need (despite the fact I havent been out drinking for ages and now I cant drink because of the meds, sigh .....). Good Luck Safedriver Babylons. Sorry...this isnot related to this thread...but I have just read your blog. I had no idea. You mentioned being "out of action" on my "fat magnet" thread but I didn't realize it was that serious...thought u had flu or something ;-) anyway, please please please shout if there's ANYTHING you need. An if u need to be driven somewhere aNd want a bit more personal assistance then safedrive can offer - just say. I'll be happy to help. How are you doing your grocery shops? Are u still on the same mobile number?

At Festival City once: me pushing baby in pram and pulling along a trolly with shopping and toddler. Pushed the button for the lift and as the lift doors opened. 4 men barged through, got in, looked at me...realizing there was no more space for me and just shrugged their shoulders and closed the doors. I was FUMING!

We registered DS as a baby (6months) at Kings Dubai, an he only made the assessment stage by the skin of his teeth. Actually, he didn't until we kicked up a stink. We ended up getting our deposit back as we suspected they were doing a little juggling as far as the waiting list goes. Not shaming the school at all, I'm just saying that it's probably best to register as early as possible at prefered schools, but also expect schools to have their own rules as far as waiting lists go.

Take your own Shellly...EK give out the Hero brand and it's usually only the fruit one (banana) and if they have veg it's the potato (yuk) one. Ask the crew to warm it in a hot cup of water for a few minutes.

Once we heard DS was being offered a place, we were then asked to pay a 500dhs "acceptance fee" notnsure if this could be similar to what they require from you.

Chat to the neighbours. Go to the police station, gie them their mobile number and see if it's still active. They could track them down for you. Seriously, it's theft. Regardless of whether you were too trusting or not, theft is theft. Report it.

Just read a few articles on Bonjela, so will be swiftly removing it from the medicine cabinet :\: Had no idea, and wish that the packaging would come with the "not advised to be given to under 16" warning!!! I've told loads of mums about it recently... None of them had a clue! It's bad.

Read up about Bonjela, it's been taken off the shelves in some countries. Cold flannel/facecloth is DS fave. Those teethers with water/gel in...put it in a jiffy bag and stick it in the freezer for a bit. Give DD your fingers...DS loves going crazy on mine. Rub some calpol/Adol on her gums. It's so hard to see them in a little discomfort isn't it.

Say away from the yellow and go for the darker green rather then the light one. At a later stage you'll probably move them outdoors. And the light green and yellow look grubby very quickly. The ones that have held out the best are the purple, dark blue and dark green. The red is ok, but faded.... From being outside, inside-it was fine.

I could have written this exact post about my first DS. I have nearly every sleep book written out there went to see Dr Brain Symon (who worked with Cecile) ad basically drove myself potty. In the end, I gave in and continued cosleeping and soothig DS with a breast when he woke. Yes, it was tiring...but it doesn't last forever. Probably not the advice you're looking for. But I really couldn't do CIO and quite enjoyed havingy baby snuggled up with me, so I pushed the books aside and just got on with what worked for us. Now he's a great sleeper. Will fall asleep on his own and pretty much anywhere (since he turned 2). He's in his own bed, in a corner in our room. I'm constantly told by family visitors that he needs to be in his own room, but honestly. Both him and I love this set up. So for now, it's how it's staying. DS 2 on the other hand. Also exclusively BF, also started with co sleeping. But he loves being in his own bed, in his own room. All children are different and I think pushing them all into the same mould to follow a certain method just doesn't work for some and is more hassle then what it's worth. This is obviously just my story, but I thought I'd share it as like I said, your situation sounds similar to mine 3 years ago and I was beside myself. All the best, and if u want some books on sleep...just shout ;-)

You don't need a prescription for Zantac or motillium here buy I would highly reccomend seeing a paed before starting your DD on the meds. I can HIGHLY recommend Dr Michael Loubser at Infinity Clinic on al Wasl. He has helped both my DS's through reflux. He knows his stuff. You may also be interested in taking DD to see a Cranial Osteopath. There is a branch in Uptown Mirdif. I tool DS 2 to see Lauren there. After 3 sessions he was a changed baby and we never even had to medicate him in the end.

maureen is fine. cut and colour. she ain't cheap and i find it a bit off-putting having my hair washed in the kitchen sink - next to the dirty dishes and open tins of tuna cat food but! if you dont' mind that, she's fine. Have never seen a dirty dish or tin of tuna in her kitchen. But you're right, it's not for everyone. She does come round to yours if you prefer;-)

I only have 1, but definitely want more and the thought of only having one more pragnancy makes me want to cry!!!! I can see myself with 3 and maybe more! Then again I didnt have to push my first one out so this my be the decider if I do have to have a natural birth in future..... After a natural you will want more, believe me! I had my first via c section and my second was a VBAC...as scary as it was, it was THE most wonderful experience and one I'm just dying to experience all over again. Oh gosh...did i really just say that out loud? OOPS!!! Really? It absolutely terrifies me! I think because the c-sec was so quick and easy, no labour pains and I was healed in a couple of weeks, anything different to that just scares me senseless. I'm repared to give it a go though, I just don't understand how we can possible get a baby out, I guess its got to be experienced to understand :S Oh I was absolutely terrified up until D day. Every time I met with my OBS she would have to reassure me and prebooked various C section dates heading up to my Due date just incase I was going to chicken out. She knew how badly I wanted a VBAC though, so she always gave me reassurance of mine and my bodies ability to birth my baby. I also had a doula who was amazing. So I think these 2 ladies played a major part in making the birthing experience a wonderful one...but it was NO doubt an absolutely amazing feeling from start to finish. Yes, the contractions hurt like H3LL...that's what an epidural is for;-) all the fears I had went away as soon as the tightenings started and I realized I was about to meet my little boy. And when you hold that precious little baby in your arms...you know the feeling ;-) go for it. You CAN do it!!!

I bought some to use for my DS as he had reflux. I ended up not needing it in the end as it was mild enough to be helped by a few sessions at the osteo. Bought it 4 months ago and it's still sealed. Any takers? Would be a shame to pour it down the drain.

Indeed Shellly. Though I suppose MCC already has a few play areas so they though they'd try something different??? Will have to give it a go ;-) Though I have to say, I'm not huge on these play areas. I much prefer meeting at friends houses. It quiet, clean and doesn't cost and arm and a leg. But then again... It's not how Angelina does it now is it? Gotta rock it like the cool mums. Lol.

People who suffer from very greasy hair tend to use dry shampoo to extend the time between shampooing their hair, it is a bit like talcum powder. I remember trying it in my teens and looking like I was going prematurely grey! Hehehe... The first time I used it I ended up grey too. Lol. It's a lifesaver for those with children/newborn babies. But it'll never be one of my must-have products. I like to FEEL clean. I also found it used to make my face feel dirty/greasy. Probably all in my mind though. Lol

It's for those mornings when you wake up late or the children are under your feet and there's no chance of a shower and your hair needs a wash. Simply spray it on your hair and you're good to go. It's great but nothing like the real thing. It's basically the same as putting baby powder inthe roots to spruce oily/dirty hair up. Just more handy in and aerosol.

I have had a hightened sense of smell through both my pregnancies and it has continued for quite some time. When both my DS's were born till about the 3/4 month mark, I was convinced I smelled like raw onion. DH thought I was going nuts and I'd never had any complaints from close friends/family and a brutally honest 3 year old DS who won't cuddle me till I've brushed my teeth some mornings ;-) Just make sure the Chlorophyll tablets are safe to take if you are breastfeeding. Just today I convinced myself that I smell of raw onion ... I keep smelling it all the time I'm pregnant around 14 weeks ... Extra teeth brushing and perfume time for me and I could still smell it :@ Oh dear, it's horrible isn't it? Oh dont talk to me about brushing teeth and perfume...most perfumes triggered my sickness and I couldn't use anything but DH's blue Barney toothpaste throughout my pregnancy. Eeeeeew....! My teeth constantly felt dirty dispite brushing them 20 times a day with bubblegum flavour. hehehe

I know some will frown apon this advice but some weeks it was just so bad that I took Navidoxine tablets just to have a "normal-ish" day once in a while. Refused to touch meds during my first pregnancy but was more relaxed second time round so gave them a try. Best thing as it really helped. Guess I was a lot more desperate second time round too, having DS 1 to run after and entertain. Those days all the Ginger, coke, salty crackers, plain crackers....etc just weren't enough. Edited to add: obviously you'd need to check with your GP/OBGYN before taking the meds. edited by KellsBells on 28/03/2011
