It's def. there, but cannot remember the costs Added: found this on EK webiste: "For AED 20 per bag, your luggage will be wrapped in strong transparent plastic, helping to keep your bags in pristine condition while in transit. You can find baggage wrapping machines just before the check-in counters in Departures." edited by Kermi on 08/11/2011

Gulf Air didn't have the seat back entertainment system when we last used them to UK. But as WaxMuch suggested, best to check it on seat guru.

Are you sure it's acceptable with EK? I was told, it must be forward facing and be able to be secured with a lap belt, which is not possible with the maxi cosi cabriofix? Sorry, can't help with Etihad. edited by Kermi on 05/06/2011

We flew with Emirates when LO was roughly same age as yours. We didn't have any problems at all in Dubai airport. On the plane, we asked for boiling water (we brought a flask), and then mixed it with water from the bottle. We had a bassinet, and preferred to change baby there. During take off and landing you have to take baby out of the bassinet. In our case, they didn't give us a seatbelt for the baby initially, only after we requested one. We could take an umbrella stroller till door of plane, but then it was put in the hold. Luckily it came out undamaged, just a bit dusty :) Yes, and we got it back only with the other check in luggage, not at the gate. So had to carry baby. Therefore best to travel light :) And take 2 or 3 baby outfits to change with you in the cabin. Where are you travelling to? We didn't want to carry the car seat and hired one from a baby equipment place.

I have also been recommended Conceive Clinic and Talwan Clinic in Al Ain. Any preferences on these clinics ladies?? Also can you advise what costs am I going to be up for. You most probably mean Tawam Hospital in Al Ain. Don't know anyone who went there, but they have a website with profiles of all doctors. Conceive Clinic is located at the beginning of Sharjah, and not too difficult to reach from Dubai. There's also DGFC in Healthcare City. I'd recommend to visit all clinics you'd consider in person, and then make up your mind. Good luck!

Try Mothercare. Not sure about the specific one you're looking for, but we have the Fisher Price Rainforest bouncer, and it vibrates. They have also a couple of other Fisher price bouncers in their catalogue.

We bought the quinny buzz 3 to go with the maxi cosi car seat. The adapters were included. The quinny is a comfortable ride for our baby and easy to fold/unfold, but quite heavy to travel with, and the wheels are a bit wide apart, so sometimes difficult to navigate between the aisles in small shops/doorways. I find also that the wheel part doesn't fold down very small and take up lots of space in the car boot.

The nurse gave us calpol and a syringe and advised us to give LO one dose once we reached home, which we did. Sorry Kermi if this is yet another foolish q, but we have to prick them ourselves too later at home????? Syringe to administer calpol. Sorry to scare you, should have explained better. How did it go today?

DD will have her 2 month vaccinations today. Like a lot of chicken mums, I'm more scared than she is. Is it hard to soothe them after all the pricks? Is there anything I can do to make her more comfy afterward, except to hold her close and snuggle up? I was the same :) To an extend that DH had to go inside with LO and I waited outside of the treatment room. Once finished, we gave LO the bottle, as Meals said. The nurse gave us calpol and a syringe and advised us to give LO one dose once we reached home, which we did. LO slept more that day and was otherwise just as normal.

I also have a health card so could someone please explain? can I get LO vacs free with that? what is the process? x edited by vixster on 21/04/2011 Your baby needs its own (DOHMS) health card. Then you can go to the Primary Health Care Center for your area (see here http://www.dha.gov.ae/en/Facilities/HealthCenters/Pages/default.aspx ) for vaccinations. They open a file and give you an appointment acc. to the DOHMS vaccination schedule.

No advice on insurance, but another option: Did you consider to get LO a health card? Vaccinations would be free then. Not sure about other medical expenses, but maybe worth to find out.

Ah, OK! Well it got to a stage for us where she was crying every time i put her in it, and i could tell she was uncomfortable, so i just took it out and didnt fling the car round corners etc. I was nervous for a couple of weeks, but she was totally fine. Might do just the same then. Thanks, Kelly_C and YorkshirePud.

ETA we have the maxi cosi so the head support is connected to the bum-wedge bit (im sure that has a proper name!) so thats what was making it all too small. If the head support was on its own, i probably would have left it in longer. edited by Kelly_C on 19/04/2011 That's why I was asking, also have the maxi cosi. LO seems so squashed with the wedge bit in.

DS is 3 months and is almost at that stage now. He can get onto his side but not right over. My sister sent me a Safe T Sleep which we use over top of his sleeping bag. Puts my mind at rest! www.safetsleep.com Great idea! If your sis is from UK, do you mind sharing from where she got one? According to their website there's no stockist in UK anymore. TIA! We're from NZ, so she sent one up from there. I think you can order from Australia maybe? Will try that. Thanks!

Vests, sleepsuits, sleeping bags, shorts, t-shirts, nappies if you have room (Asda had two big boxes for twenty quid last time I was home)... uh, everything?! :D edited by DubaiCat on 17/04/2011 DC, where do you buy vests and sleepsuits normally? I'm in UK atm and don't really find something nice in Next or Primark.

Bumping it up.... Would anyone know for how long can the shipping Companies in Oz keep the stuff with themselves or would we have to rent a storage place for the stuff when the goods arrive? Just contacted a couple of companies regarding this (albeit not to OZ). They had different policies on this, some charge form the beginning, others give a week or 2 before they charge a certain %age for storage. Best to enquire this from the companies directly.

When you buy a Bugaboo Cameleon, can you buy just the stroller bit or does it all come in a package with the carrycot too? And what about the Quinny Buzz? I need to go buy a new buggy but I don't need the carrycot at the moment. The quinny buzz comes without the carry cot.

Babyshop is out of stock of Maclarens! Called MOE, DM and Ibn! Does anywhere else sell them? Got mine from MCC branch. You can try also Abu Hail branch. Mothercare sells them as well, I think 100 dhs more. When I called the DM branch last month, there were in stock.

Kermi, how much did you get the techno xlr? What colors did they have? I paid 1095 dhs incl. rain cover and footmuff. If I would have made my mind up a few days earlier during the babyshop sales, it would have been 875. Colour range was limited, mine is dark blue. Ask them to call other branches if you're after a certain colour.

From what I found out, both don't recline fully. The back rest is reclinable, but not to a fully flat position. I bought the techno xlr at the end, and it reclines 100%. Check babyshop prices, they are cheaper and that's from where I got one. If you want a fully reclinable but cheaper option, check the chicco liteway. Goodbaby Bur Dubai was selling the standard one for less than 500 dhs.
