DubaiCat, I have the cabrio fix, but LO is not comfortable in it. Basically, the chin is pressed against the chest. Was told that the pebble has several recline positions, so want to give it a try. Did you see the pebble on dubizzle? For your sister's visit, did you check rent a crib website? They have also car seats for hire.

sydneygal, did you buy the pebble or the cabrio fix? 715 or 815 sounds a very fair price for the pebble, checked online prices and found the pebble more expensive than the cabrio fix.

Did you contact the seller? Maybe just a mistake? Never bought from dubizzle, only through contacts from here.

We've done it in one of the small photo & copy shops near us. They kept it and we picked it up after some hours. Don't remember the price, but it depends also on your printer brand.

The airmiles cards should have come through automatically - our have always done that! (As we opened new accounts they sent more so have them stashed away and called Air Miles to ask them to link all the cards together to one account ). If I were you I would be pushing HSBC strongly to be credited with the airmiles that you would have got in the 3 years. Someone cocked up and it wasn't you! Same here. The airmiles cards came automatically. (Only time we had to register with airmiles directly was when we wanted to access our airmiles account online.)

OOOOhhhh Well. Can't see it via your link so looked it up on Amazon. Has 5 stars (admittedly from only 3 reviews) and is 74 pounds! So you got a bit of a bargain there MissB! May have to swing by Sharaf and contemplate. Thank you! Check also C4. Saw something similar there (not sure, which brand though, but 2 different brands).

Toys r us and walmart selling special travel bags with wheels, but no idea if available here: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3091046 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7812701&findingMethod=rr You could also buy this shopping trolley thingy people use for heavier things, boxes etc. It has 2 wheels and you could strap the car seat on it. I saw it here once, but again, no idea where to buy it here. <em>edited by Kermi on 10/03/2011</em>

Why don't you consider buying the single use bottles from Babyshop or similar and taking them and when they're used - toss them out. I know it's horribly bad for the environment but for ease over your flight it could be an option? Good idea. Do you happen to know if I can find them at Mothercare?

On the way back from the UK at Xmas they made me open all the sterile bottles containing water and sip from each and when i argued that then it wasn't sterile they were not interested, same with the ready made formula in the cartons. :( And did you have any problems at Dubai airport?

We didn't get either. Had DH with me so we had to go to a separate room for u/s and were told that the machine there couldn't print pictures. We also were told that 3D/4D is not possible. But maybe things changed, best to ask the doctor you see at antenatal.

I can recommend the spa @ Intercontinental Hotel Festival City. Find them really professional and the treatment rooms are spacious. Check reg. the pool access though, they have pool deck, but I never enquired if access is included.

What a tacky way of self advertising! UHHHH! So true. And babyshop itself just had a 25% discount offer on nearly all items, much better deal.

I used the Mia (I think) ringsling, which I really liked b/c it is adjustable. I bought it online from a crowd called bubsboutique (A dubai based online retailer like Babysouk). I just checked bubsboutique website. They have now the mini monkey sling. Can that be the one you used? http://www.bubsboutique.com/shop/Mini-Monkey/ It's looks really great and easy to wear! <em>edited by Kermi on 07/03/2011</em>

Used to buy it from C4 Ajman (Gyma brand), but didn't see it since long time. Tried 'Arabic Masala' from Union Coop, but it's not a replacement.

Peanut Shell Sling...read about it and quite impressive. Am actually confused on whether to go for a Sling or Ergo baby carrier when travellng with the NB. Is the peanut shell sling similar to the infantino baby sling? If yes, I saw a post reg. a recall on here: http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=139375

It's called Birds & Animal Market, and it's close to Sharjah Heritage Area/Rolla Area, between Al Merraija and Al Jubail. Here are 2 links with location maps: http://www.slc.ae/images/stories/Promotions/9NOVslcMap.jpg http://wikimapia.org/655774/Birds-Animals-Market

I made an appointment with both of them for next week, price wise they both charge the same. I am so confused on which one to go for, i know i should see them first before making up my mind, but I am so afraid to make the wrong choice again. If any of you Ladies has see both of them please give me some advise. Thanks a lot To choose a doctor is a very personal choice IMO, so reviews of others are helpful but cannot really decide for you. I would visit all 2 (or 3) places before you decide on a doctor (the third place would be Conceive in Sharjah, if the drive to Sharjah would be ok for you). Check also if you feel comfortable with the clinic set up, the nurses, the clinic timings, check if there's a 24/7 emergency support, and if the doctor is available outside clinic hours. Best of luck.

Thanks so much for all replies! Really helpful info. Freckle and Shilpa, DH will most probably be located on main campus near Oxford Rd. and I might stay at home for the time being :) We are planning to search for a quieter area, but with good public transport connections to the campus and to city centre. No ideas reg. budget yet, just starting to collect info :) Thanks again.

Every town in Manchester has its good and bad areas like most places but I would generally stay away from the towns directly circling the city centre (Moss Side, Longsight etc) and go for ones just outside those. For access to the university I would suggest Didsbury as the nicest closest town. If you have the money, renting directly in the city centre is nice and lively - maybe not the best if you have a family though? Do you have any specific requirements, I was born and bred so will try my best to advise! :) That would be great! Can I email you? <em>edited by Kermi on 25/01/2011</em>

Stayed there in autumn and had a great stay. Hotel is inside Fujeirah City, but has own (small) private beach. Very nice staff. We had a deluxe room with sea view, room was rather small but newly furnished. You can also have a chalet type room in the garden. Quite far from Al Aqah, 30 km maybe? Don't remember kids facilities, they had one pool with kids pool. Personally, with kids, I would opt for Miramar Al Aqah or also Sandy Beach Hotel, has a nice beach, more suitable for kids. Friends with kids like also JAL hotel. <em>edited by Kermi on 19/01/2011</em>

Do you mean the costs for the labour permit or the actual card only? If card alone, then this link should give you some ideas about costs: http://www.dubai.ae/en.portal?topic,Article_000802,1,&_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=general

thank you for the replies! have you check out the sales but doesn't seem like much in the way of discount on prams unfortunately...haven't tried Just Kidding so will check that out...I tried baby shop and they seem v reasonable but didnt have any sporty/3 wheeler options You could also try Goodbaby in Bur Dubai. As others said, wait for sales at DSF, Babyshop has often good discounts on car seats incl. Maxi cosi & on Quinny prams.

while we are at it, which one is better PERFECTIL or CENTRUM? TIA x Depends on what you want: if you need a nutritional supplement, then Centrum as a broad spectrum multi vit & mineral product. Perfectil targets more skin, hair and nail conditions.

Thanks DubaiCat! Yes if you don't mind asking your friend for the latest info then that would be great. I wasn't thinking of not paying for it it is just my experience when asking an NHS GP to do something 'for money' has led to blank faces and lots of receptionists running around wondering what to do with me or just flat out refusing to embark on helping me. And that was just for immunisations! This is maybe outdated info, but a poster on here (Nicola) contacted the NHS regarding maternity care and posted the reply: http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=68964
