Coffeegal, try also in Mamas and Papas. When I was buying maternity clothes months ago I realised they are more expensive than my regular clothes. Bought most of my maternity tops and dresses in Mamas and Papas. For the maternity jeans/trousers and shorts bougt mine in Jennyrose (MOE), they are not so cheap but very comfy.

DS rediscovered Sophie the Giraffe in his toybox this evening and was having a good old chew on her while I made his dinner. He managed to bite off a piece from her foot and had it in his mouth. Luckily I was watching him and made him spit it out straight away, but this could have been dangerous as the rubbery material could easily stick in the windpipe. Just thought I'd share for all Sophie owners. I've read the same story before somewhere so i didn't buy this STG for my baby Sophie.

BabyBezza, I know how you feel; feel sorry for you. I was preggy last year and my first 4 1/2 months were awful. I was sick all day and night. I could not keep any food down. I tried everything (e.g. ginger tea, lemon, ice cubes, mint, honey, etc) and did not work. I was prescribed Zofran and Navidoxine and did not work either. I remember for one week I only survived eating one green apple and a glass of water per day. I was also worried about taking those medicines but in the end I gave birth to a healthy baby girl through vaginal delivery, without episiotomy and epidural. Sorry I cant help you except sharing my experience. PS since then I hated green apple :)

Oops, sorry. I didn't realise (probably not reading things properly!). Hope you find someone suitable soon - I know from going to the doctor with my sister it's so incredibly frustrating when you feel they're just not getting to the bottom of it. it's alright. There is a new German hospital here; they dont have a permanent pedia yet but I have read good feedback about their Family Medicine doctor (Dr. Sobek). Will try her. Cheers.

We live here in Abu Dhabi and quite hard to find good pedias. My doula recommended Dr. Maurice but for whatever reason it so hard to get an appointment with him; the receptionist gave me reasons twice that ''Dr. Maurice is not in town''. So I have to call again on Saturday (1 Oct) if I can get an appointment for Sunday.

Reflux sucks :(. My sister had a horrendous time with her DS because of it so you have my full sympathies! PS Also as kiwi says, at four months they should begin to develop habits with regard to sleep so you're looking at it at exactly the right time and you have more chance of avoiding some of the more common pitfalls that lead to sleepless nights (or so I believe, anyway). Thanks much Dubaicat. Actually, we're still looking for a better pedia who can help DD about her reflux. I am not happy with her current pedia; she does not explain much about silent reflux. I also would like to find out if there is anything else that bothers DD physically as she is really a not-so-happy-baby.

unhappy right after a nap means nap was too short, yes, I heard this before from cousins when their babies woke up crying so they did their best to put them back to sleep. If earlier/later nap times don't work then you can try other techniques like going in and soothing her the second she starts to wake, with the hope she will transition into another cycle. Or, if the sleep was only 20 minutes and she won't go back to sleep, try putting her down for another one after only 30 minutes or so of "up" time. Thanks much, will try this. edited by kiwispiers on 23/09/2011

Have you had her checked for reflux? My nephew was the same - screamed unless he was upright and being held, and even then sometimes just carried on screaming - and it turned out, after many trips to the GP and eventually a reluctant referral to a paediatrician, that reflux was his problem. Yes, she has a silent reflux. :(

Ladies, many thanks. DD is gaining weight and she has regular wet/dirty nappy. Happy baby? Hmmmm.... She is only happy after she wakes up in the morning (she can play for 30 to 40 mins). I notice she is not so happy after her day naps; when I put DD in her playmat she plays for less than 5 mins then she cries so I play with her but after a few minutes she cries so I pick her up or sometimes she does not want to be put down. She prefers to be in upright position, honestly, I cant understand anymore why she still cries even she is already in my arms. :( Hello.Again.Kitty - yes, I have been reading The Baby Whisperer. I also have GF's book which I think is strict and can't be implemented to DD. :)

Thank you so much Kiwispier. I really waited for your comments. :) You and Hello.Again.Kitty have been very helpful not only to me but also to other ladies here in need of help about pregnancy and baby matters. I feel happy now to know that I am not doing anything wrong. Been miserable for the last three weeks because of negative comments about DD. For a new mother like me, tired physically and emotionally then will just receive negative comments about her baby are not very helpful.

Oh yes and like you and your baby, we also co sleep en still bf, everybody says thats why she is like that. Dont know. Thanks Snowflake12. DH and I are thinking of putting DD in a nursery next year (maybe Jan or Feb) even for a couple of hours so she can see other people. When we were in England 2 weeks ago I somehow got offended / hurt when people were commenting that DD is a ''mummy girl'', ''she always wants her mummy'' and ''mummy syndrome''. But actually there were two people (out of 10) who cuddled DD for more than 30 mins and she didnt cry. I guess DD can sense those people whose intention is to give her affection and not just to cuddle her. :)

Kiwispiers, thank you so much for giving an information about colic. Will tell this to my husband and my baby's pedia. I thought colic is gas so I thought burping after feeding is enough. I really have to read again my baby book. we're really thinking of getting a maid or nanny but finding a proper nanny here in Abu Dhabi is not easy at all and my husband is quite hesistant of getting one because of the funny and scary stories he heard from his colleagues about their experience of having a maid / babysitter. I must admit also sometimes I want to have a nanny for my baby, sometimes I dont because right now once I hear her crying, I dont have the heart hear her crying and just let my mother takes in charge of soothing her (so what more if is a stranger). I still want to do it myself even I am already tired or my back is already aching. OR maybe I really have to stop ''playing SUPERWOMAN'' who think I can take care of my husband, baby and home. I have been ambitious that I can do everything.

SuzyDuzy, Kiwispiers and Dally, Thank you very much for all the tips / information / opinion. Dally, I play classical music (Sleeping Time) by Mozart every time I put my baby to sleep because vacuum cleaner and hair blower do not help. I make her burp after feeding so maybe it is not really colic that makes her unsettled. Kiwispiers, I was just so tired yesterday thats why I wrote ‘’wants to cry and giving me a hard time’’, I didnt mean it literally. I accept now that my baby is a bad sleeper during the day; I should still be glad because now she is already sleeping before 10pm unlike weeks ago 1am, 1:30 or 3am. I shall not let my baby cry again for more than 5 mins, I let her cried once for 5 mins just to see if she’d be settled but that was the first and last as my husband does not agree also letting her cry for more than 2 mins. She sleeps beside me every night. This afternoon I put her in the swaying hammock which I get tailored somewhere (hung the hammock on the frame I bought in ACE hardware). She cried so I gave her a dummy and put a small cloth to support the dummy as she was spitting it. I managed to put her to sleep after 30-40 mins of swaying the hammock even she only napped for 10 mins and 20 mins but at least I had a chance to give my back, shoulder and neck a rest. I just really hope and pray that I will be well all the time so I can take care of her day and night especially we really don’t have a family or relatives here in Abu Dhabi so I have no one to call to in case I get sick.

Norak - thank you so much for sharing what you've experienced. I went to pedia before, her pedia made me so upset only so I ended writing a post here or I would have exploded. This pedia told me to let my baby cry otherwise she will not learn to sleep. I asked what if she's crying for 30 mins or more than 30 mins, she only said to let her cry otherwise i'll be with her till shes 3 y/o. Of course, I didnt follow her advise but I was so upset the whole day and night because of that advise. I tried letting my baby cry once for 5 mins, I picked her up because she only made her cry louder and she looked like hyperventilating. To all the ladies here who shared their tips/advise, thank you so much.

SuzyDuzy - thank you so much for sharing your tips; you are so sweet. My mother is here but going back to our home country on Aug 27. Big help for me and my husband that she's here; she does the shopping, cooking, cleaning and ironing. Only God knows how I will be able to cope when my mother leaves. Sometimes when I am really tired and my back is already shouting for a break I will give my baby to my mother but when cries louder, I get her back from my mother. cant stand my baby crying/screaming and I am not there for her to get settled. Yes, I saw your post reagrding 3rd baby, I only got shy to write ''one is already too much for me''. :) 2Blosom - I live in Abu Dhabi. I havent tried Suzyduzy No. 1 tip.... because she is still in my arms sleeping for 5 mins or less than 20 mins and she gets awaken. Or when I she is already asleep for at least 20 mins and I think she is already in deep sleep once I lay her to bed, she gets awaken easily. Aryanwynn - yes, I have a sling. just bought it 2 weeks ago. I tried it already for my baby, she fell asleep but up already in less than 10 mins. :( I really avoid letting her awake for more than 1 and a half hours but for whatever reason she does not sleep longer. :(

But as soon as you see some signs of tiredness, put her into bed. Possibly with a little classical music, or with a baby mobile. Let her play a little bit in her bed, with the room not pitch dark but not too bright either. This seemed to work well with DS most of the time. I never put him to sleep on my lap or my arm, unless he was feeling sick. Remember that if they are too tired, it becomes harder for them to fall a sleep. Best moment is when they are just a bit sleepy, but not exhausted or nervous Good luck! Klijn, I have tried this but in less than 10 mins she got bored then she just cried. :(

Daza, that is also the reason why my husband prefers us to travel in the morning. Now my baby is already sleeping. I gave her a bath, fed & burped her, read Paddington (didnt finish because she cried) so I swayed and sang a little for her (took me 1 and a half hours) and now she is sleeping like an angel. BUT WHY CANT I MAKE HER TO SLEEP DURING THE DAY? :( she is a horror one during the day. Do you think the best thing I can do is just accept that maybe all she wants for the mean time is cry and give me hard time during the day? And just wait for the day I can make her sleep during the day?

Ladies, thank you very much for sharing your tips. Sad to say, she is still in my arms while swaying and ssshing her, she falls asleep but after 5 - 10 mins (havent laid her to bed) and she's already up. Tried waiting till her sleep is already deep but still once I lay her to bed, her eyes are wide open. i avoid coffee and choccies. I tried many times putting her in her cot, or on our bed or pram after feeding and burping her; she'd be happy and we we're hoping she would have fallen asleep but unfortunately, she only cried so no choice but to pick her up if she's already crying for 5 mins. Yes Kiwispiers - I do remember you replied on my post one night I was crying because I didnt know what to do with my baby. she sleeps better now through the night.

HAK - thanks much. I know the cues when my baby is feeling sleepy already; yawning; rubbing her nose against my shoulder, etc. And I always avoid letting her awake for more than 1 and 1/2 hours as per the advice I got here before. I can put her to sleep but for whatever reason after 5, 10 or 20 mins she is already awake. :(

KKS - thanks for the advice. I tried swaddling her many three times after feeding, burping her and calm. but after 10-mins she cried and made it louder which made her hot and sweaty. will try baby swimming but not sure if can we find a swimming pool here in Abu Dhabi that suits for babies. I vaguely remember her pedia told us before that we cant bring her to the swim pool till she is atleast 6 months old because the chlorine is quite strong. she is 2 months and 2 weeks old. my husband is working in a power plant, leaves the house at 8am and gets home between 7:30 to 8pm. I can ask him to at least do the food shopping for us and maybe cooking at night. Sometimes when I am really exhausted I so want to get a nanny but sometimes I dont want and scared to get one. Even my mum is around and help me to put the baby to sleep but once the baby cries really loud, I cant just ignore. Even I am so tired already I will still get her from my mum. We will go to England before August ends for baby's Christening. Getting nervous now for the 7 and 1/2 hours journey by plane as my husband prefers us to travel in the morning. Morning and afternoon our baby does not sleep properly. :(
