Hi I have had similar problems, and can highly recommend star international school umm al sheif. They have been absolutely brilliant with my children and friends kids. The one big advantage of Dubai is that it is a lot easier to hold kids back a year if they are struggling. Star now has a learning support department and they are very approachable.

I emailed them this week asking if they were taking applications for yr 7 and they replied saying from march 2013 they would be and if I'd filled in a registration of interest form they would be in touch once they started taking applications. I'm assuming that the school will be opening in sept but its a bit confusing lol.

Parents from primary had to pay a non-refundable deposit in November for places the following Sept. English college..... they are not automatically taking the primary school children unless their grades are top ones from next year... Yes that's true but next yr if your child isn't getting certain levels for everything they won't be given a place in secondary school..... And that is what the new head has told the primary head

Hi bella2323 I wouldn't think you would need your visa for it. If u look on groupon site it will list the terms and conditions of the deal but also a phone number for the clinic so you could ring them and ask direct :-)

I'm assuming here that all the posters objecting have never ever had a drink whilst they were with their children?? And never drink on holiday with said children?? Personally don't see the problem as long as the teachers were not drunk......

Hi my daughter is currently doing her art gcse and has come up with an amazing idea for her final piece project. Unfortunately I'm unable to help her as she needs pregnant models. Then I thought that there might be some lovely ladies on here who might be willing to help her..... All she needs is to take some photos of a few different bumps at different stages (no faces will be shown ) and for her final piece to do a belly cast. Are there any lovely mummies out there willing to help please. :-))))))

Had a look round Safa school last week and whilst my original impression from the look outside was I don't like it once inside I loved it........ Small class sizes great teachers and facilities too. I was very impressed with all the dedicated areas for yr groups and activity rooms. I went in looking for secondary places for my 11 yr old twins but am sooo impressed with it I will def be putting my 2 yr olds name down for fs1. I was also impressed with the schools outlook on education and that they are not just in it for the money!!!!

Don't believe I mentioned the police..... I was referring to the security guards whose whole purpose of job would be security???? Why have security if they don't have to do their job they may as well of had mannequins the use they were. The bag was next to my daughter when he grabbed it and ran, so can hardly say it was her fault.

the wii is a must for kids i have 4 kids and they love it. they are 18mths twins of 10yrs and a 16yr old. we also have an xbox 360 with kinnect and a ps3 but the wii is the one they love and play with the most. in fact my son is only one who ever plays on xbox. think they are more suited to older kids than wii. thou must admit some of games on wii i love playing too. and i find that for kids most of games you want are available on all 3 consoles. my kids have never shown any interest in the kinnect games edited by kissymac on 03/07/2012

Hi yes it was the speech and language therapist who did his assessment at BILD who said he needed it doing. Our peadiatrician said he didn't and when we told BILD this they said no he def needs it doing. There are certain sounds and letters he cannot say properly and this is affecting his literacy etc as he writes as he says. His tongue tie is from tip of his tongue.

just a quick note to let you know that uk end you cant book the flights direct with the airline anymore and has to be done via an agent and the travel boxes rules have changed. we had boxes made here when we left in dec 2009 and they werent acceptable anymore so had to have new ones made. james cargo made ours for all 3 animals and their prices were very cheap. they are also the company that heathrow airport use for all animal arrivals into uk. : )) also my cat is a persian so only airline she could fly with was british airways. edited by kissymac on 16/09/2011

I agree its fair but its not fair to not mention this deposit to parents until they invoice you it. i have a folder full of emails between me and the school and not once was this deposit mentioned. had it been mentioned i could of had the money ready. Not given 24 hrs to pay it after just arriving in the country. Everything else we have to pay for like car deposits agents fees and house deposits and school uniforms etc was all budgeted for and we had the money for ready. They dont have it it their prospectus or on their website either unlike all the other schools here. : )
