I looked around for this a while ago and ended up going for the IKEA option. I got a full wall with built in wardrobes - dark wood, one full mirror door, some shelves, hanging rails, wide drawers etc. You can really configure it any way you like. I now have 8 doors of wardrobe space and lots of shoe racks! Highly recommend IKEA. They were very helpful in the design and very quick in the fitting Worth checking out

I disagree about CF - totally! They have the most methodical and consistent approach to diet and exercise I have come across and the results speak for themselves. The level of fitness achieved is far greater than the average PT session and it instils a healthy lifestyle out out of the gym too. This is why it works long term. It is a lifestyle change NOT a bootcamp class. Most of the people here at CF have been doing it for many months, some more than a year without injury. In terms of CF advertising , there was one campaign which was in v poor taste and was immediately pulled around a year ago. This was 1 poor judgement and does not reflect at all the spirit of CF and the people who go there. Just wanted to put this out as I am a huge fan of CF - they changed my life. In the end its a personal choice and you have to choose the diet/training option which suits you best. Good luck :) In the end you have to choose what suits you best.

Hi there First step is to go to the bank and get a liability letter/clearance letter. This will state that the loan has been cleared and he no longer owes the bank. He doesnt need to register the car separately into his name before selling. When he does the sale contract with the buyer and goes to RTA he needs to provide the letter to RTA along with the usual docs so the new owner can register the car in his name. Hope this helps

Hi there. I own one of these villas. They were only completed end of October and we got keys early Nov. They are great and standard of finishing was very good - we had practically zero snagging. I think it is very quiet there at the moment but also close to Ibn Battuta and roads so not far away from everything. It is a bargain just now as once the community is more established (landscaping, shops etc) it will become more expensive. DEWA is connected and everything is in place in that respect including Smart Home facility etc. Most of the real estate agents have listings - we put ours with Better Homes but there is plenty of choice in market Good luck!

I would also highly recommend Michele Soudi - she has a website now too - eyebrowsdubai - and you can see some of the nice natural tattoos she does. She is a lovely lady and would put your friend at ease. I am sure she would give a free consultation and advise her on best way forward as she has been doing this for years.

My DD goes to a "popular" BC school and I can assure you there is more than 40 nationalities there and more than 50% of her class are "non-western or middle eastern" I think you are being a bit narrow minded giving out this "advice" - I don't believe points 2 and 4 of your post to be true across all Dubai schools. You shouldn't put people off from applying where they like... I know you may have the best intentions but you shouldnt stereotype schools like this. edited by kitten67 on 27/09/2012

Well done for only having 2kg to go. It may be your diet is the issue rather than the workouts if the weight is isolated around your tummy. Try to eat very clean for the next 2 weeks and see if it makes a difference

Hi everyone I did Al Furjan snagging yesterday! You will be so pleasantly surprised. My husband does this as part of his job and we brought a big checklist with us, measuring tools etc. Needed nothing! The standard of finishing was the best I have seen in Dubai. We had 2 chipped floor tiles in maids bathroom which will be replaced. That was it! Everything else was immaculate and the house had also been cleaned ac and electricity on so you could get a really proper look. After waiting so long for the house to be finished it was a relief that Arabtec had done such a good job. So dont stress about getting a company to do snagging for you, any little jobs should be v minor. Congratulations on your new house!

Hi I am a Finance Director here in Dubai and know the market very well. If you want to have a long term senior finance career you will end up being involved in other commercial parts of the business so the MBA would be great for the future. (It is also more widely recognised). The most important thing is to do a professional qualification after university. You could even start doing something now instead of MBA and work in a low level finance job when you are studying part time at evenings/weekends. Due to regulations such as SOX and internal controls, multinational companies CANNOT and wont hire staff for senior Finance roles unless they have professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA etc. I strongly advise you to research these qualifications and decide which one to pursue. The professional qualification should be your top priority. Unfortunately your current qualifications (or even with the masters) will not get you a "good" level of job in Finance. Most people in the market have professional qualifications and experience in a Finance function. Nowadays there are many candidates to choose from so you need to have this as a minimum. I would advise you to seek a junior position in a reputable organisation and do your professional studies part time. this will give you the best chance for the future. I wish you every success!

If you liked the Dior Airbrush - try Diorskin Forever OMG - I love it! I used to use Chanel and Bobbi Brown but am completely converted to this. It gives a great coverage but doesnt make you look too "done". At the same time it gives your face a more flawless look without being cloggy. They do a great pressed powder for it too which is good for keeping everything in place in this humidity or on nights out. Check Dior counter in Harvey nics or Debenhams - I am sure they will give you some samples to try Good luck! edited by kitten67 on 01/08/2012

Unfortunately, the best option is really to have a nanny at home for afternoons. We have a live out nanny that we sponsor. She does housework in mornings and looks after our daughter in afternoons. After school is not a popular concept here. I can understand why. The few times my daughter had an extended day at school for special activities she was exhausted. They are up around 6am to be at school for 730 so 2pm is already a 7 hour day for the kids. with this heat it can be very tiring. Best option is to get a nanny.

I have bought 2 villas here in Dubai. Sold one - made a decent profit and will be selling another one later this year. I believe investing in the property market here is really a personal decision. Timing wise prices are good at the moment.... It is not necessarily a bad investment at all - especially for villas where prices are increasing again. I have friends who recently purchased for a great price in the Ranches as they wanted to settle in a family home for next 5 years at least and were sick of moving around. If you want to go for it I would consider the following points carefully: 1 How secure are your jobs? 2 Do you plan to stay in Dubai medium term? 3 Choose the area/development very carefully - location is v important for future resale value 4 Do you have a decent deposit to negotiate a good mortgage deal/rate? 5 Bear in mind all the incidental fees - mortgage, registration at land dept, real estate fees etc 6 Consider using a mortgage broker to help you shop around for good financing deal The market is much better regulated and organised than before and if you are buying in a reputable development, it could be a good option. Many people are a bit negative about Dubai as a long term option. I personally am more positive based on my personal and business experiences. Only you can decide based on your personal circumstances.....

I understand - I used to get nagged sometimes. When one of us has a trip away or has a spate of working late (not often thankfully) it can be hard. I think how you communicate it can help but he has to be understanding that you are not a Little Woman waiting at home with dinner on the table. When I have a late night I am VERY apologetic, try to give some advance notice and always plan to do something nice the following day/next opportunity. There has to be give and take on both sides in marriage - life doesnt run like clockwork and he has to understand this. I think you are very normal btw!! edited by kitten67 on 04/07/2012

I firmly believe you must set your own boundaries and priorities. I have an executive level career, a 4 year old and a fab husband. The only way that I manage this is by being realistic in my priorities. I work to live - I DONT live to work. You need to decide what is more important for you and get a better balance. My family are my number 1 priority and I have made this 100% clear at work. I leave on time every day (people know better than to ask for a 5pm meeting with me), I don' t work weekends, minimise my travel and use my BB and laptop to keep in touch when something urgent is on. Trust me - working women are some of the most efficient organised people out there! You have to be really honest with yourself and don't use work as an excuse. Do you want to spend more time with him and give him more attention? Yes or no? If so, you need to arrange a couple of mid week dates - call him and surprise him during the day. Make an effort to talk on the phone or text for a few mins during the day. Its nice to keep in touch! Men like a bit of romance and pampering too.... Work will always be there and if you set the parameters, you can progress your career at your own pace. If you set exceptionally high expectations at work, you will burn yourself out after a few years and may lose your marriage. Aim for continuous growth and improvement in both! Good luck x

Hi my daughter just finished FS1 @ Safa school. The bathroom rule is quite strict which I think is fair enough as it is not the teacher's responsibility to manage toileting for 18 kids. In the initial weeks, the class assistant will guide them to the bathroom, make sure they wash their hands etc but they will not be helped in the cubicle. After this they are expected to raise their hand when they need a bathroom break and attend to themselves. My DD is very good about this although she tend to keep "number 2s" for home only! My daughter had 1 wet accident in the first term when she was quite poorly and they changed her and gave her a spare uniform. However, this was a complete one off and there were no children regularly having issues in the class. She has been toilet trained since 2y 6m and started Safa at 3y 6m. The teachers in FS1 are absolutely LOVELY, I cannot recommend them highly enough. I am sure with enough focus over the summer, your DD could be ready. I think it could be hard to get a FS2 place next year with the move to the new campus and lots of kids in FS1 this year. Good luck!

I agree! I have a full time live out nanny/maid and I pay double what you are offering! (Mine I pay over the odds as she is very experienced in childcare having trained as a nurse and worked in nursery school here) I think the going rate for live out should be between AED2700 - AED3000. Most maids can earn AED1500 at least for live in job. Accommodation will be at least AED600 up to AD1,000 per month depending where they live and under what conditions. Then they need their bus pass/food allowance etc. I would increase your offer to at least AED2,500 and you may get more interest.... Good luck!.

I took a year maternity leave and went back to work. I put my DD in Blossom and it worked well for us. I was honestly very happy for the adult interaction again and it made me treasure the time with my DD more and spend more quality timewith her. It really is an individual choice. But I would think no harm to try it and see. One word of caution - when they are ill they cant go to daycare, so you need a back up plan. I was lucky to be able to work from home on such odd days or my husband and I would take turns to have a day off. However, if they get a bad cold or something, you need a flexible employer (or a nanny!) Good luck! edited by kitten67 on 03/05/2012

You should buy the Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow in "bone" colour. This is skin coloured shadow which acts as a great primer for your eye make up It goes on as a cream and dries quickly - doesnt budge all day. Anything you put on top stays put Highly recommended :)

The Philipino night club is good fun for a group night out. There is a girl band dancing in crazy costumes. Atmosphere is a bit cheesy but generally just people having a good time, cheap drinks, dancing. Very friendly crowd Next door is Indian nightclub which was definitely seedy - mainly male patrons staring at bored dancing girls. I felt uncomfortable when I peeked in there.
