What in particular did you like about it kkeene? Firstly, we were impressed with the design of the villas (which are actually townhouses), both from an architectural perspective as well as how they are finished. Admittedly, as the villas are new, you do not know entirely how they will work, but they certainly look like to be very liveable spaces! Secondly, we love the concept of Sustainable City. The idea of living in Dubai in an energy neutral neighbourhood is great, not to mention recycling (which I do not have in my current Emaar building), solar energy, electronic carts, and biodomes that deliver a weekly allotment of veg & herbs. Some of it might be a bit gimmicky (like the carts), but it sounds fun! We also have high hopes about lower monthly bills. Thirdly, we are hoping that the new community draws a cool group of people together and makes for a good neighbourhood dynamic. This is our first jaunt into the 'burbs, so we certainly hope so! : )

Hi, We're moving there in March 2016... We've been in Dubai 5 years and lived in Downtown in amazing places (incl BK) and SC is the only place we've encountered that has made us both WANT to live there..

Dear All: Thanks for your comments and support, with the exception of IOTS, who is clearly employeed by Emaar. It has been a bit of a battle and the end result is that we are moving out of our apartment into a smaller and much more expensive apartment, thanks to the inflated rental market. Very disappointing experience. My take away from the situation is (1) the system is broken and needs to be ammended so that owners who live out of country have service fees automatically deducted from the rent and (b) property managers need to have more accountability in this process, in order to ensure that they are not handing over rent cheques to owners who are in arrears with regards to service payments.

Just found out that the Burj Khalifa will turn off my elevator access in two days.......quite a statement from the tallest building in the world. Emaar is launching a new campaign to make owners pay their arrears service fees. Fair enough; however it means that renters (such as us) are being forced to pay for the financial indiscretions of owners. Emaar is punishing the wrong party. The real shame is that my apartment is managed by Hamptons International and, instead of doing the right thing and paying the service fees so that we can retain elevator access, they have decided instead to not pay the fees and not renew our contract at the end of this month. Technically, I guess this means that when we move out of the Burj Khalifa, we will have to use the stairs. Ah Dubai.......

Hi Guinness: I have been looking to join group tennis lessons in the JBR/marina area and would be very interested in joining the group. Do you still have room?
