Yes, It is considered to be a "multiple entry visa" valid for 30 days. It does not start over every time you leave and re-enter. I believe it is the same in other places as well (like the 6 month leave-to-enter in the UK). Sorry this happened.

We rented from Diamond Lease in 2010/2011. The cost for a 4 door sedan was about 1,500aed/mth inclusive of the insurance and we did not have the ability to drive into Oman without paying extra. "This was their Ramadan Special" Never had any issues. HTH

i am planning on exiting dubai whilst still within my 30 days (day 13) period and will be travelling for 29 days ..will i be allowed back in on a tourist visa ? thanks I have learned there are "tourist visas" and there are "visit visas" which are looked at differently. Usually a 30 days is viewed as a "multiple entry" which means you can leave and enter multiple times but the clock does not "start over" when you come back in. You are not eligible for another visa until the 31st day. Can you clarify your passport country and if you were sponsored to come in? That will answer some questions.

Dubizzle.com has 2 bedroom flats available under the classified "properties for rent" and then under "short term." Avg is about 15,000 a month (month to month) but a few for less and many for more. So happy your visa was sorted! :)

If your DH signs a contract for a serviced apartment which states utilities (DEWA) is included in rent then that can be accepted for visa sponsorship. Easier if his company has a good PR. We lived for years in serviced apartments and never had a problem renewing my visa. Hello there, That is fantastic news. I am pleased to hear that. I know when we lived in Dubai previously the lease was in the name of the company and we never had a problem. I had concern however when I was told a serviced apartment would not be good enough. After some review we are leaning more towards a serviced apartment now for the first year. I appreciate your reply!

Yes. It is enough. Not a lot, but enough. Your allowance can easily get a one bedroom flat for 11,000/mth...even in the nicer areas. Your monthly basic salary is more than enough to pay the bills and eat out more than twice a week. You can even buy a decent car with that transport allowance as well. You won't save much, but it is doable. I know people with kids that lived on less (granted they had tuition covered as well.) Welcome!

Hi there, We are returning to Dubai after a break of several years. We thought about staying in a serviced flat for several months and even possibly longer (6-12 months) until the dust settles. It never occurred to me that DH can't sponsor us unless we have a lease? Any advice on this? Not wanting to do visa runs with two children. Thank you in advance.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended not using these as they are considered choking hazards. (No judgment on my part). My pediatricians office had an article posted. There are quite a few but be careful... there are countries now (just recently) that no longer accept distance education degrees... even done partially online and even from very reputable brick and mortar institutions! I know Qatar has this rule now for teachers seeking employment. This rule "may" also apply to the UAE . I would double check locally before spending the money. I am only assuming this might be for teaching as you seek an Education degree but am not certain about this rule for other professions. Good luck.

I've read parents are not actually allowed to meet teachers per their guidelines. I find this suspect (odd to say the least) and worrying as to the qualifications they require for staff and if teachers are qualified. All reviews point to bad. :(

Thanks ladies, I did leave UAE, i went to Manilla. I have an exit stamp from UAE on 15th, entry and exit stamps for Manilla. I have been self scanning my passport on arrival, so have no stamp for that and wonder if this could be the issue. Will see what happens when i return on the 28th. I think you have your reason there! If they did not stamp your passport with a new visa at return then a new visa was not issued. Interesting situation. Keep us posted.

Hi there @ ThirdCultueFamily We have wondered the same thing but keep in mind that the agents get paid on the rental price. Negotiating the price down on any desirable property is hard, as a result. I do not know if they are required by RERA (or whatever governing body licenses agents) to take your offer to the LL no matter what. They may just refuse your lower offer and not even give the LL a chance to consider it to keep their commission higher. Does anyone know what the requirement is?

I have just been fined at the airport for over staying my on arrival visa. I was on day 28. The immigration officers stated that when i arrived on 29th February this started the 30 day visa and despite me leaving Dubai on 15th March and returning on the 21st March, this did not stop the original visa and my 30 days with 10 days grace had now run out. I though if you left Dubai it stopped the 30 day visa and another started when you next entered, have the laws changed??? They gave me a letter permitting me to re enter when i return from the uk, any ifo welcome Like the poster above, I am wondering if you left the UAE? I want to say that yes, it was implied in your post, but just in case we misunderstood, did you? If you did leave the UAE then that is very odd. If you left and went to Oman (or wherever), did they stamp you leaving the country at your exit? Did they stamp you re-entering when you returned? I would think that if they did then this makes no sense.

Thank you ladies. I appreciate it. I have noticed some used cars being sold by dealers on dubizzle that have advertised "no down payment" but they are small dealers. Wasn't sure what to think. Too nervous to do private party sales at this point. We were really lucky once and very unlucky once! Hello, I got a car loan with HSBC years back in 2012 and it required that 20% of the value not be financed. This required a good size down-payment. We are now thinking of getting another vehicle. Have any of you put less down? We are hoping for only a 5-10% down-payment this time around. Thank you in advance :)

They would have to prove that you knew that you were pregnant, I would think? If you were considerably along (like 4 months) then perhaps they would have a case to argue, even if you had no symptoms. At that point it is "reasonable" that you would have known. Still debatable however. Let's say that I am asked if I have a pre-existing condition (heart failure, or diabetes, for example). I have no idea that I have such a condition and answer "no" but it turns out that I DO have this condition which is discovered for the first time after coverage starts. I would think it would need to be shown I had been previously treated for or had been made aware that I had this condition before I applied.. Bottom Line: How can you disclose something for which you have no knowledge?

Can anyone who knows the rules and regulations (and has possibly even confirmed this with authorities) answer the following? Can a woman on a husband's visa be allowed to work as a housekeeper (or even as a nanny) with only a no objection letter and without employer sponsorship? I ask because I know for certain that us expat women can work in Dubai with this letter and still remain under our husband's sponsorship. Thank you

Hi ladies , anyone had experience if changing from american to english is difficult for 10th graders.is it a bad idea ??? What r the consequences ?do they drop them ir raise them a class ? Is it easier or more difficult? Any advice would be appreciated . I think in the international schools of Dubai it is different than home. The blend of expat kids and teachers from different places gives the curriculum here a bit of a twist. After all, it isn't just what you teach but WHO you teach and WHO is doing the teaching. I think personally, it depends on the child. If your child is taking the IB program in an American curriculum (or other curriculum) then changing to the curriculum of the UK may be a challenge. I say this because IB is much more inquiry-based while the British is less so. If your child is used to structure however and thrives by knowing what is expected with clear instructions and when it is expected, the change could be a good thing. It's hard to say without knowing more. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for responses. She is a Srilankan maid. Looks like I made a wrong calculation at the time thinking of about 7 to 8,000 including deposits Etc. ! I'll try to go and understand the situation a little better before giving the money to PRO! If I can somehow figure out which office I have to go to for the residency etc ? Sri Lankan maids require an additional deposit with the embassy in order to be sponsored which is separate from the standard deposit with the department of residency...unless rules have changed.

Hi ladies, I am getting a little uncomfortable as DH PRO at office keeps asking for money to do the maid's paper work! We've paid him 6,000 which seems to be spent on: Visa application about 1000 Deposit of about 2000 Change status & over stay of 900 PRO has the balance of about 2000 and is asking us to pay another 5,000 saying it will be spent on processing fee! Does it mean I have to spend 11,000 knowing the 2,000 deposit will be reimbursed later on for one year of having the maid? Is this normal? Many thanks for your clarifications. Not that this might help but I remember that many of those fees can now be paid with a credit card. You could spread the upfront cost over 6 months or a year.

May I ask what tricks they used? As a former real estate agent, I know most would work their pants off to try to rent it out. The owner never pays a fee, so I don't know what these agents been doing... May I ask you as a former real estate agent a few questions? If the owner doesn't pay any fee, (thanks for clarifying that), what incentive does the agent have to help a tenant negotiate the rent down? Your fee is based on the rent value, if I am not mistaken. Do you represent the owner or the tenant? An agent wants the highest rent they can get as it gives them more comission. If the agent tries to negotiate the price down, it generally means that the price is set too high for rent. @ Silvstet Thank you for the quick reply. Curious... does it hurt a commission if the tenant wants to pay in more than one check or does the agent earn the same no matter what?

Thanks SarahLou and LadyLavender. ValGal. In addition, it looks like the Ministry of Interior has an online application for people who are expecting guests to apply for 90 days visas. Might be able to handle it directly versus an agency. If anyone has used this before please let us know! http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/apply-for-90-day-visit-visa-online-says-uae-s-ministry-of-interior-2015-09-27-1.604777

Hi Maril, You will find when you receive your work contract here, that you will see the salary broken down and listed in a way that includes housing, there is a percentage from the total of the salary that is counted as housing allowance. If I am not mistaken most companies do provide annual return tickets to country of origin - that used to be standard practice recognised by the Labour office, maybe this has changed in the last few years, someone who knows more here, can highlight this. I cannot advise you on schools as I didn't get that far yet. But I can tell you after living here for so long I would say that this is doable indeed but you have to do a lot of research on where to live, where to shop, how to shop. Also saving funds for emergencies over here is very important, small surprises can pop out of the blue, ie. traffic fines, medical occurrences that are not covered by insurance. A lot depends on your family, what you like to do, what kind of lifestyle are you seeking? etc.....Best of luck! This is actually an ongoing problem in Dubai for some people who have housing provided by the employer in addition to their salary. I have seen those who work for major companies (whose names I would love to mention) that have their housing paid for separately... YET their contract suggests that half of their actual salary (what goes in the bank as theirs) is "housing allowance." Since end of service gratuity is based on BASIC salary only... it allows the company to get away with claiming half of their employee's actual salary is not really salary (though it is). This allows them to pay only 50% of what is owed to the employee as gratuity at the end of the contract. :( @Lady Lavender - the labour law contract requires that the employer provides a percentage (If I am not mistaken it used to be almost 40% of the total salary toward housing) most people don't realise this until they have a legal problem with their employer. People often don't understand the employment contracts they sign, one with the employer and one with the labour office, this causes all kinds of confusion, not only for those that have housing provided but sometimes even worse for those who don't have housing provided. It's a real shocker when it comes to the end-of-service benefits because all kinds of miscalculations occur. This is why I always advise everyone to keep all their documents and paperwork up-to-date, always have a written statement translated by a VERY reliable English to Arabic translator before going to deal with any governments offices or law firms. @UmmSofia Let me ask propose this to you and you can offer your thoughts. A person gets (for example) a 25,000dirham a month salary (direct deposited) and they also get separately, their housing provided. This housing is paid for by the employer. Would it be legal and acceptable to put on their labour contract that they earn 12,500 "basic salary" and 12,500 "living allowance" which they define as applying towards housing? After all, none of their salary is going towards their housing. That is already covered seperately. Doing it this way means that at the end of their contract the employee gets paid gratuity on only the 12,500/mth even though they earned double that and none of their salary was applied towards housing. I say no. I feel it is a way for an employer to get out of paying 50% of what an employee earned as salary. If I am not mistaken, using my example, the employee should get paid gratuity on all 25,000/mth they earned per month and nothing on what the employer paid for their housing. Am I wrong here?

I am curious (OP) if you can share what these agents ask of the owners like yourself? Do they charge you a fee as well as the tenant? What is their fee, if any? What "service" do they offer exactly? As a person looking for a place, I would like to always work with owners, when possible! It is nice to know both sides

Would those of you that currently live (or previously lived) in the Layan Community offer your thoughts on the experience? The pool? Gym? Security? Are you (or were you) happy there? Would you recommend this area for an expat family with younger kids? We are comparing Layan and the JVC community currently. It appears that Layan may be a bit father away from Barsha (the area we lived before) but we will have a car. It also seems to have less construction and is more established. Since we are seeking a 3 bedroom townhouse (or a ground floor apartment) in the 130-140k range and a place to live that is around other expats families this seems to fit the bill. Thoughts? I greatly appreciate the advice and input!

The UAE considers *** outside of marriage and any subsequent pregnancy resulting from it, illegal. They do not discriminate with whether the "breaking of the law" occurred prior to arrival to the UAE. If you had a child outside of marriage they are supposed to deny your visa. You have proven to them that you have broken their laws. Only divorced women (who had their children inside of marriage) are approved as this is not illegal. They also require a letter from the father giving permission for their children to reside in the UAE (even if father has no custody). Somebody mentioned it happened once to their knowledge and was seen as a humanitarian case. My advice is that you are most likely going to be denied. Not good news but I feel the most likely outcome

I am curious of this law of applies to nannies and/or maids? I ask because if a parent works 8am-4pm (for example) they are working 8 hours. They would also need commute time. If we are allowing for one hour each way that comes to 10 straight hours of help needed per day while the parent is gone. How would a nanny get a one hour break "every five hours" in this situation?

Hello, I am not sure if you are trying to ship a personal book already owned. We have ordered books on Amazon in the past and were astonished at how quickly they arrived from the USA. Some in only days and without paying for expedited shipping. I hope this helps.
