I used them for tables and chairs for my DD's birthday party. I booked about 2 weeks in advance, got a reply back saying the booking was made and they would be there at 11am (party was at 2). I called at 10.30 to check all was on track, they had no record of my booking. They promised to call back in 5 minutes with a solution, they did as they promised and half an hour tables and chairs were on their way. The manager also called to apologise. Staff were brilliant at setting up the tables and were back at the allotted time to collect them. They had a virus on the laptop and all information had been wiped apparently. I would use them again.

My husband said it was Dr. Saphra. We used to use Nicolas & Asp but their prices are very high. We were forced to find another dentist and found Dr. Saphra.

I have also been to TKD and it is very hit and miss as to whether you get the right size. The prices are also very expensive compared to the UK. I will accept a small increase but 50% plus is just silly. I order from the UK or wait until i get back.

I would buy one with the highest amount of storage you can afford. It is amazing how quickly it fills up. We bought the iPad air 128GB with wifi for AED 3,099 from Sharaf DG and on Amazon it is GBP 530.

Also remember, that although the staff salaries are cheap you need to add on visa, flights, accommodation, gratuity etc. on to that. Trade licences are not cheap and if importing food it has to be checked it can be sold here. If you go one day over the inbuilt storage time at the docks then the storage fees are very high. Yes some shops are very expensive and take the mickey. I usually wait for sales or shop and ship.

You might have a problem with the colours as they will be classed as liquid (assuming its the one in the small pot). Have you tried Tavola/Spinneys for the colours. Apparently there is a new Wilton shop in the G&D park, maybe they can order for you.

Hi, you are right swimming is an important life skill. Please call Maya on 055 575 2888 or email [email protected]. She is the owner of Waves Swim Academy and she has children of her own. She will listen to your concerns and look for a solution. If your DH doesn't like swimsuits on your DD perhaps try a UV vest with shorts. My DD wears them all the time. Mothercare have them but I buy mine from Monsoon as they are prettier. I also order from Landend.com. My DD swims a lot so she has lots of costumes.

Unfortunately they are all over priced wherever you go. Hamley's make it less painful as they often have entertainment for the children. The Entertainer has started to open a few shops and they have some new bits and pieces. I did say to the manager there when she asked me about what i thought about the shop that I was disappointed that they were stocking the same as the other toy shops and that everything is very expensive compared to the UK. i.e. Lego here can be AED 159 (about GBP 25) and in the UK the same item will be AED 57 (GBP 8) so even with Shop and Ship charges it is cheaper to bring it over. She said they are tied to the same suppliers and with their prices. It was an interesting conversation, she said she had had the same conversation with a lot of people. On the plus side they had the Elsa jewellery (cheaper than Amazon) and a great collection of loom bands. If I am buying a pricey item, I shop and ship it from Amazon. Or when I come back from holiday I pack a suitcase full of presents to bring back.

I used to go there but changed as it was a pain to get to with all the construction work. We have recently joined the Aviation Club and get a good discount at the Nail Spa. Was disappointed, finger nails chipped within 12 hours and just felt they wanted to up sell. Then they didn't want to give me the discount as it was nearly Eid (about 4 days before) despite having a notice outside the door reminding members they get a discount. I had also mentioned that I was a member when making the appointment. I will go back as it is handy but I will still use my old place when I have the time. <em>edited by Ladybirdsarethebest on 18/08/2014</em>

[i'>[b'>I wanted to try a new delivery for food, after spelling my street name 5 times including with phonetic alphabet the girl taking the phone orders doesn't get it slightly right, so back to Pizza Express as they have my address in the system when I give my phone number. Solution: If I don't want pizza and don't want to cook book a table at a restaurant.[/b'>[/i'> Have you tried 24h.ae, we did recently and we have tried 3 restaurants, each time delivered without the irritating call 'we are outside your house but you are not inside' (could that be because you are at the wrong house). 5 minutes to set up and you can put in work and home addresses.

The WPS thing is huge. Before i joined my company the boss was paying his two employees by cheque which meant that he had a ban on employing any more people as it had registered that for 3 months employees hadn't been paid. It was also a start up and only had two employees (I made no. 3). We had to process the 3 months through the WPS before the company could process any more visas. I think after the third month of not being paid you can report. If you haven't been paid by the 10th of the month you can ask them to call your company to remind them to pay you. Don't quote me on this but this is my understanding from our PRO. WPS is so simple to process (if you have the money of course). We have ours set up with UAE Exchange and once a month I process salaries with the WPS and pay via UAE Exchange. The set up of employees is time consuming but only has to be done once. I know it can be done via the bank but we have more control this way, i.e. if we want to pay early.

I bought one from Ali Express in China, sent it via the UK for free and quicker shipping (30 days to UK, 60 to UAE (and $ top post)) took 21 days in all using Shop and Ship from UK. I paid AED 65 per dress including postage from UK (bought 5 in all - for friends). I bought one size up. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1PCS-Free-2014-Hot-Selling-New-Style-Girls-Frozen-Dress-Elsa-Anna-beautiful-Dress-Fashion-princess/1923995429.html It is lovely, the white is coming off under the arms but the site has lots of options. Mr. Ben had some but not very authenic looking, it was the right colour but that was about it. The Little Explorers shop in MCC had lots of wands/tea sets in the Frozen theme.

Cafe Ceramique food is not great but that is not what you go for. Probably too hard for your 2 year old to do any of the painting. More food is okay/nice and lots of it. Pizza Express is good. Other option is Carluccio's, nice food and they may give you the option of the children making your own pizza if you ask. I know they do this at the weekend.

We pay AED 100 extra if she works on her day off but it isn't usually a full day. We pay extra for babysitting on a Friday night, the rest of the week is not paid for. For babysitting she gets around an extra 50. It sounds mean writing it down but she is happy and she gets lots of extra bits at other times of the year i.e. Christmas, Easter and her birthday. She will also get a bit extra at the end of the Summer as DD has been around a lot more (at Summer Camp most days but shorter days than school).

Sorry didn't read the start of the post, Dr. Ulrich Honemeyer at Welcare in Garhoud specialises in high risk pregnancies, he saw me through mine. Very little in the way of interpersonal skills (or didn't 5 years ago) but he knows his stuff and when you are in his office you and the baby are his only concerns. I had a scare at 20 weeks and he saw me, calmed me down and I had an amnio. It didn't matter about the patients outside, me and DD were his priority.

Part of the problem is that we all pay the high school fees so expect very high standards so very few of us would give excellent reviews. There is always something that (in our eyes) could be improved. My DD is happy, all her friends are happy and they are progressing. She's 5, I want her to love school at this stage, not be able to count to 1,000 backwards, forwards and sideways. She has many, many years of education ahead of her

My DD Is at RDS and loves it. She has only done one year (FS2) but wakes up every Sunday asking if it is time to go to school. She has a countdown calendar for when she goes back. The transition they did in the last week to Year 1 was handled very well. As with a lot of schools, it is down to the teacher and she had an excellent teacher for FS2 and it appears it will be the same for Year 1. We had one or two problems but as soon as they were mentioned they were corrected very quickly and we were kept in the loop. We use a bus service to do the drop off and pick up so aren't in every day or week so communication is important. She was at Emirates British Nursery for 4 years before she went to school and it is lovely. The old deputy head moved to the branch in Motor City but she is coming back to the MIrdif branch. She is amazing, The needs of the children are her priority and she is always looking for ways to improve things for them. Yes DIP is a bit of a trek but its on the motorway so should be okay from Mirdif, you just need to time your exit out of MIrdif. Miss the window by 10 mins and the journey takes you half an hour longer.

I am not sure how the prices compare, for me it is the ease. I recently paid AED 10 per yard for chiffon and AED 20 for crepe but he gave me a 20% discount at the end. I am making an Elsa costume so quite picky about colours. Parking is easy, paid at the front and back and free in the basement. It is a nice little mall, very much geared to the people living locally.

@Ladybirdsarethebest What kind of fabrics are avaible in Bin Sougat Souq? I'm looking mainly for kids fabrics or jersey but i found the designs ins Satwas not really nice. It isn't the best choice but lots of plain fabrics, i haven't really looked for children's fabrics although I did see a dinosaur fabric in one shop. There are about 6 shops, most really helpful. There is also a place that sells ribbons, button, rhinestones and that sort of thing. I can spend a fortune in there.

Make sure she gets there early, they have a numbering system and when my maid went home in December we dropped her off at 6.30am and she was number 150. She packed herself some lunch and a spare battery for her phone. She was home by about 3.30 is memory serves me correctly.
