One of the teas you can buy in Spinneys is made from the flowers, I have to bring it home with me when I go back. Dimla or something, the friend that always wants packets was told about it by Emirates flight crew. She was struggling to sleep on a flight to Australia and was made a cup by the staff from their own stash and I have been buying it for her since then.

The landlord on our office has tried this with the, this is the rent now but we will increase it if the calculator says we can on the date of renewal. I called RERA and they said no way, 90 day or it stays the same.

Fortunately in MCC they are around the corner from each other so you can price in one, check the other out and buy what is cheaper in each shop. I bought a cupcake/cake carrier and it was about a third of the price in Tavola compared to Lakeland.

My DD goes to Royal Dubai, they are doing it to break the world record for the most number of people dressed up as characters from Wizard of Oz. They have to be instantly recognisable to be counted. This is why I made a Dorothy costume, all of it made for about AED 80.

Is this for a Gems school? We got the same request. If you are handy with a needle & thread? I bought a blue check mans shirt and made a Dorothy pinafore and plan to put a white shirt and skirt underneath. I bought red sparkly shoes from Monsoon near Next in MCC for AED 40 (they had loads).

We saw Dr. Reem Zahrawi at Medclinic at Dubai Mall with our 4 year old when she had conjunctivitis, she doesn't prescribe when not necessary. We went to her as the other ophthalmologist prescribed a long list of medication. She and the nurses were very patient with DD who doesn't like eye drops, taking time out wasn't a problem. For a GP we always go and see Dr. Njideka Nto (pronounced NJ) in Arabian Ranches, she is very anti unnecessary medication, especially antibiotics. She believes in talking to the patient, getting to know the patient before prescribing. My DD is 5 and has only just had her first course of antibiotics because we have always tried other remedies first. Even this time we tried other things before antibiotics (DD wasn't in pain). She called a couple of days after starting the antibiotics to check DD was doing okay.

Are you wanting a valuation or a full structural survey? If it is for a mortgage you will need to check with your bank which companies are on their 'board' and then go from there. Most banks have special rates with valuation companies. Otherwise give CNC a ring, www.cncgroupltd.com

I also usually refrain from commenting on these threads. Church is very important to my maid and she has said she would prefer to have the whole day on a Friday off but if necessary she will work on a Friday but would like the time off for Church. Perhaps this is an option for you. My DH always drops her off at Church as the metro doesn't work that early on a Friday and then she comes home. So far we haven't had to take her up on her offer to work a Friday. We also swap her day off when she requests and she does the same for us. It is a two way street. She shouldn't have threatened to not come back the next day. Perhaps a sit down and a discussion about the way things are working and what needs to change/what works is needed. I do this every 3 months with the office staff and our maid. I couldn't do my job without any of them.

Totally agree, Shop and Ship is the way to go but check which websites deliver here. Monsoon and Lands End (both the UK websites) deliver here for GBP 15 no matter what the size of the parcel and they take the VAT off, so spend GBP 100 and your postage is covered. Liz Earle deliver here, not tried it as my Mum keeps me stocked up so I don't know if they take VAT off. My Mum uses them for delivery to the UK as you always get free samples with your order.

I will say though, that this new law about not smoking with children under 12 is a joke - why? Because it's illegal to now smoke with children in a vehicle and yet they still HAVEN'T passed a seatbelt law for children! Riiiiiiiiight. I thought the same thing. Madness

The Early Learning Centre has some great games, they have an egg and spoon race game and if/when the eggs drop off the egg cracks revealing a (fabric) yolk and white. They also have inflatable gloves in the shape of hands, great fun for balancing things. Not too expensive (although as usual far more expensive than buying in the UK).

I had the same fear so when my DD went to FS2 and we had to put her on the bus (I could do morning run but not afternoon run). DD was delighted. She doesn't have to go on any major roads which put my mind at rest they also have a bus driver and nanny on board. She also has a bus card which she has to log onto and out of the bus with. She was being bullied by one of her peers on the bus but could speak up for herself and the bus nanny was trying to keep him under control. The minimised to the other parents about what happened but they did deal with it when I spoke to them and the bus nanny was given additional training. My DH and I did have to (and still do occasionally) have to rein in our desire to follow the bus to school to make sure all is okay. Another thing I didn't think about but did on the first occasion I drove her to school, is that the buses at her school park on the school grounds so no roads to cross but parents have to cross the road from the parking area. No cars are allowed where the buses park.

I had a c-section due to health reasons. I argued with both of my doctors but both had valid answers for every question. I didn't think I was missing out on having DD naturally and to this day I don't think I missed out. The only time I was annoyed was when women I barely knew would say you can't feel like a real mum, did you bond eventually, you aren't a complete woman etc, etc. Fortunately I am strong and could walk away but for others it could be a problem. I recovered quickly, my obyn was amazed how quickly I was up and walking and demanding to be discarged. My only problem was that I discovered I was allergic to the adhesive on the bandages, I itched for ages. Now that was embarrassing, it looked like I was scratching my lady bits! What I am saying is, like WhiteOrchid said, No matter how you deliver your babies, they are yours.

We pay 4 cheques but we struggled to find a landlord that would accept this (2010). My DH works for government and they won't give the housing allowance unless the contract has 4 (or more) cheques on it. It is a private rental not via the government they just give DH an allowance but with many strings attached (correctly so).

For luxury I head over to Nail Moda in Wafi but for a cheap and cheerful mani/pedi, I use Lily Pond (04 284 5923) in Mirdif City Centre. Apparently the salon in the Aswaaq centre is very good. I haven't found a decent hairdresser in Mirdif in a salon, someone comes to my house to do my hair.

I agree with Hobo about being on the other side, we are looking for staff, admittedly in a fairly niche market but looking for young enthusiastic graduates. The number that don't bother turning up, or bring family in with them for support or just fall asleep in reception (after being there for 2 mins not hours). Minamiller, I will email you after I have posted this. Please check your junk mail as I am emailing from a gmail account.

I have just checked mine on the Rera calculator and no matter how low I go, the increase is never more than 20%. I went to AED 10,000 and it still said only 20% or AED 2,000. My current rent is AED 100,000 the average prices would have to be over AED 200,000 before it gave me a 20% increase so even if the RERA prices go up it would have to go to super silly levels for your landlord to be able to justify 20%. We chose a complex as it would be harder to prove he needed it for family/himself.
