...DH arrived at 11am with DD this morning and it is unlikely they will see him until about 2pm... Is it that crowded there in the mornings? I was hoping to take DS this friday 6th morning around that time as we leave that same evening on vacation and no Santas (at least not the kind I would want to take a pic of with DS) where we are going :(. edited by sumi on 02/12/2013 I suspect today is busy as lots of parents are off and the children are off (I am at work though). Friday morning might be okay if you got there for when it opens. I would double check what time they open on Friday though

DH is still waiting, apparently 1-1.30 is his break and 2 - 3 is his lunch. DH not happy. Last year you could take additional pictures and parents go in with the child.

They are open 10 to 10 (as Plum2 said) but he goes for lunch at 1 for 30 minutes. DH arrived at 11am with DD this morning and it is unlikely they will see him until about 2pm. Wafi have been good as usual and there are lots of arts and crafts and things for them to do. The Grotto/shed has moved and is near M&S now.

I know this is an oldish thread but a great big thank you to all the recommendations for Celmetro, my DD dropped the mini iPad and the screen cracked. I called Celmetro yesterday, they collected it an hour later and I got it back this morning. AED 495 but worth it.

Unfortunately you will not find the natural stuff here as it contains alcohol, mine is 83% proof! But you only need a minute amount. Its the same for decent vanilla extract. Sometimes Spinneys has the synthetic peppermint flavouring.

Our DD is only 4 but we are keeping to what I knew in my childhood, a satsuma in the toe of the stocking along with a handful of nuts and some chocolate coins. The presents will all be small fun things, a couple of trash packs, a book, a small piece of Playmobil and a DVD.

Try the Abaya Mall in Mirdif. There used to be an abaya maker in the Spinney's Market shopping area and they used to do talioring.

We use the Dolce Gusto, would have liked a Nespresso but couldn't afford it. My brother has a Nespresso but likes the Dolce Gusto because it makes a better long coffee. It has pads for cappuccino and various other flavours. DH likes a cappuccino occasionally so I bought a hand held milk frother to make it frothy.

I bought my Singer from Tchibo, it is this one: http://www.johnlewis.com/singer-8280-sewing-machine/p231136647 It was around AED 350 and it is great. Basic but makes costumes for my DD and I can mend things, do hems, add button holes etc. Otherwise I think Satwa is a good place to look.

Ask her what she wants, ours only wanted a bed and a set of drawers for her clothes. She didn't want a TV so she gets a little extra in phone credit as she prefers to spend her time off talking to her DH & DD. She eats in the kitchen which she prefers. We got the furniture from Ikea.

I can't help with the process as DH did it all with the help of the company PRO, I wasn't involved. There is one thing that is missing from the the list, you also need your marriage certificate. We were done and dusted in 48 hours but we did pay for fast tracking of the medical. A friend of ours employed the services of a PRO and the DH only had to turn up when his signature was required.

Which Kidkraft kitchen is it? This looks very similar http://www.mumzworld.com/en/plum-mews-wooden-role-play-kitchen (I don't work for them, just spend far too much money on the site) Have you called Kidkraft? They may have a supplier here but they don't actively market the product.

We had the same but that was back in August and the first day of Eid, didnt realise it was a new rule :( We had the same problem and when we called 20 mins before hand we were told there was a 45 minute wait. My DH asked how this serves us better (the phrase they use I think), the guy kept saying but it does serve you better, DH asked how and the guy finally admitted it serves them better as a company. Apparently lots of people were booking but not being there for pick up or being asked to wait for 30/60 mins. We will try careem when we next fly.

Dr Nto at Mediclinic at Arabian Ranches is amazing, she used to work at the Mirdif branch and we still drive up to see her. She manages to make you think you are her most important patient, she takes as long as it is needed to listen to you to diagnose. She is UK trained.

The helmet is easy to make, we made one last week. A balloon, paper mache, white paint and lots of patience. If you google it, you get lots of ideas. If that didn't work we were going to use a bicycle helmet and use tin foil to shape a helmet. Two large soda/water bottles painted white with ribbon for arm holes makes a good backpack. Sorry I cannot help with a ready made one, have you called Mr Ben's Closet?

We do, didn't think not to. We did say that occasionally we would ask her to switch it off, i.e. if we are streaming something and the internet is slow but so far all has been good. She asked for it as she likes to watch programmes from home. We did offer her a TV but she declined saying she preferred to watch via her phone. She hasn't abused it so far, house still clean and daughter is happy.

Good Luck in your search, there are very few good agents. We have been lucky with ours as both landlords (8 years in one villa, 4 in the current villa) have agents just dealing with his properties. Both landlords are business men and looked for the right tenant with a view to long term rental rather than short terms wins. When you have found something, please come back here and ask the ladies what documents you should get from the agent/landlord before handing money over. I can't advise as my DH got his PRO to check the documents before handing anything over.

Hi, we live in Mirdif and have done for 12 years now. Uptown is very much under the flight path. Are you hiring a car or using a taxi service? The side with Mirdif City Centre has the most villas under the flight path. The opposite side, behind Uptown has the least. 47th Street is a good place to start. Where are you or your DH working?

Maven Spa in Mirdif Uptown is great. They are about AED 240 for a massage and give you 20% off if you go before 1pm (or at least they used to), they also give a card where you pay for 9 massages and your 10th is free. Number is 04 288 8480 It is opposite Mediclinic. edited by Ladybirdsarethebest on 23/09/2013

I'd love to have them (how much do you want for them?). I'll wash them before use, no problem. You can have them, I loved using them and happy to pass them on to someone that will use them. I would ask, that you pass them on to someone else (if still usable) when you are done. edited by Ladybirdsarethebest on 18/09/2013

Try TKD in Town Centre, the number is 04 385 6353. I haven't seen them in there but I wasn't looking. I recently bought a swimming skirt (with a bikini top) to wear with my rash vest so they might. I had to go down a couple of sizes as they were huge. The sports shop next to ACE seems to have a big selection of swimming outfits as well.
