Al Ain zoo? I think you can take your own picnic. Sharjah petting farm? Definatly take your own food Safa park or any park? My DD loves being outside (especially with a picnic) can you tell? She was about 2 when she got a scooter and 2 years later it still comes with us to the park. One of the voucher sites had vouchers for a days us of a hotels pool & beach. Yas Waterworld. Lots for that age to do.

We are in a 3 bed villa and our bills for the summer were about AED 1,200 per month. In the winter is drops to about half that. My DH has put rubber seal around all the doors to stop any cool air escaping that way. If we feel any warm air coming through the window edges or if, after a sand storm we have any significant sand in the house DH goes and checks the windows./doors near by to see if any seals have broken. We keep the AC about about 24 but with the fan on so the air is moving. DEWA want to help you cut your bills, here is a link to their website with ideas: http://www.dewa.gov.ae/community/conservation/conservedefault.aspx

My DH has gout, his biggest trigger is stress. We have also discovered that prawns set him off as well. He can have a glass of red and red meat doesn't affect him. He sees Dr Basel Darwish at Health Call in Health Care City.

I disliked the Miramar. Inattentive staff, dirty pool in that the grout was black (they were cleaning it when we were there a few months ago). Badly managed Kids Club, bracelet making consisted of twisting 2 pieces of wool together. Having said all that the pool staff were lovely, the room service was great and the dive centre was very good. I do like the Meridian and the Rotana.

My DD is nearly 4.5 and is also not night time trained. I am not stressing about it, from what I have read the doctors don't investigate until they are 7 anyway. It is a hormone that needs to switch on in their brains so lifting won't work. My nephew was nearly 7 before he got it and hasn't had a wet night since. You will hear stories about children that were dry from 18 months but, as I have to keep reminding myself, all children are different. I also don't want to limit my DDs water intake. I need the water and she is far more active than me so she must need it. I do hate buying nappies though and will be happy when she 'gets it'.

The Thai Kitchen at the Park Hyatt is fabulous, my parents love the brunch there on a Friday, especially when it is cool enough to sit outside. I haven't been to Thai Chi in many year but when I last went, it was okay but not amazing. There is a significant price difference though. The Thai Kitchen being the more expensive. I would say Thai Chi is treat but not a special treat. The Thai Kitchen is a special treat. I hope that makes sense. I haven't been to Spice Emporium so I cannot comment.

I remember there was an announcement recently about adding the egate facility to the emirates ID. Not sure if it works well but the cost is just Aed.150. Check the emirates ID website. My DH asked to put his egate card on his Emirates ID and was told it was possible but didn't work s well. ow whether this was a ploy to get AED 50 more from him I don't know but we got the separate card.

It isn't cheap, they charge AED 250 (or did) for registration and then we paid aroudn AED 1,700 for a class a week for a term. They used to do taster offers, around AED 300 (incudes registration) and 2 classes and 2 play area passes or something like that. Staff are lovely and my DD loved it.

H&M is great, keep popping in though as they are always replenishing their sale racks. Matalan quality is not the best (or the cheapest) in my opinion. Mothercare is expensive so not worth buying for painting/messy play. Babyshop is okay for quality. Pumpkin Patch is also good, keep an eye out for sales. Gap is lovely but keep an eye out for sales, they often have leggings for AED 14 or AED 19. Gymboree is also super cute. I usually order this from the US, sign up for their sales and they often have half price sales, then another 20% off and if you order up to USD 100 the shipping here is only USD 15. I bought cheap and cheerful/second hand for nursery and kept the nicer stuff for the weekend. Can you tell i have a DD.

I thought Aquaventure was undergoing maintenance or is that completed? We Wild Wadi but after going to Yas a few weeks ago it is our favourite. We were staying in Abu Dhabi. We got there are 9.30am and they opened early. There are vouchers for it in the Dubai Entertainer as well but not in the main section, about 4 or 5 pages in on an advert page.

I often do it myself here, often the pumps are busy and lots of drivers are honking their horns for attention so I just get out and start. The guys used to fall over themselves to come and help but in my local station they know me and let me start and then they come over and finish off. I have no problems with this, I have to do it when I am back in Europe. Don't get me started on the pumps in the UK, I didn't realise you had to select pay at pump or in the kiosk before starting and had a voice bellowing over the loudspeakers telling me what to do.

Ladybirds.. How did EBN in Mirdif handle the transition-separation from you? My daughter is very attached to me and this subject is really stressing me out as I don't want to stress-terify her with just leaving her in a completely strange and new place.. Any input on this please.. My DD went from 3 months old so there were no problems. They do a settling in period, where the child goes in for an hour or so on the first day and then 2 on the next day, etc. until Mum/Dad and child are happy. Most children love it as there are lots of toys, swimming, outdoor play, dressing up, arts & crafts, music and stories. My DD loved it and is there for the Summer camp.

The Organic Shop does 20% off on the third Saturday of the month (and Friday?). It is great for stocking up on items like maple syrup, oats, chicken and bread. Although for the chicken you have to be there in the first 30 mins of it opening as they run out quickly.

On this page you can see what there is to do. Unfortunately you have to keep clicking on the UK flag to get English everytime you change the page as it reverts back to German. My original reply got lost, we will be going with Orient Insurance. I think it is about 2,300 for the year but there are cheaper options, we have chosen a mid range with only AED 50 deduction. It also covers more medicines and hospitals rather than just clinics.

I have also noticed that a few of the UK companies now deliver here for nominal postage. I have just put in an order for around AED 700 from Landsend (UK) and they are delivering it here for GBP 15 and they have taken the VAT off. Monsoon also deliver here. M&S will if you have someone in the UK that will go and verify the delivery. Gymboree in the US also deliver here for a minimum spend, the delivery starts at USD 15. I bought loads for DD and a friends DD and as the sale was on there we got loads for USD 100. Tshirts were around USD 4 each.

My DD and two of her friends went last year. They loved it and felt special. They arrived, were given robes to wear, they picked the soak for the foot water and chose their nail colours. They had fruit juice with HK stirrers and ate HK cookies. It wasn't cheap but it was their reward for being good all Summer. They have asked to go again and we are planning it at some point during the Summer again. If you register with their Facebook page you get notification of discounts.

Spinney's usually has the white rolled stuff. I did marshmallow fondant when mine was dried out and it was late in the evening. It was yum and did the job. Very easy as well. I was making a cake for friend and she said the icing was lovely. There are recipes using marshmallow fluff or small marshmallows.

I don't have a problem with it although I do tend to hang clothes up on every other line so lots of air circulating. It takes no time at all to dry anything. It doesn't twirl around. The one in Tchibo is one you fix to one wall and pull it across to another wall. Lines are close together.

We have been in Mirdif for 11 years. Our daughter is starting at Royal Dubai in September. Shorooq is expensive as it is gated and fairly new. I haven't been in one, so cannot comment. We are on the side of Mirdif near 47 Street and we rarely hear planes. When we lived on the other side it was loud when you were outside. You get used to it. Traffic was fine, they have put toll gates (Salik) near Sharjah so drivers are going through Mirdif to avoid paying. Hopefully it will sort itself out soon. Access to other places is fine. Jumeirah (for beaches) is about 25 mins. You get used to it. Both of us used to work in Media City and didn't find the drive too bad, we are both work locally now. Mirdif has lots of shops and children's activities now.

Office Depot in MCC. The basic one is AED 189, or they have an offer for AED 399 and it includes a laminator that they retail for AED 300 or they are doing a shredder that cross cuts, I think we paid around AED 300 - 350 for that one but they have a deal on that one as well. I don't work for them, I was in yesterday looking at laminators/shredders.

I am not sure how to explain this but our pool has a nozzle that cleans/circulate the water and it is near the surface. We adjust it so that it circulate just on the top of the water, this is enough to keep the water cool. Not chilled but comfortable to be in.
