Abby, I didn't receive the email yet but thanks for the heads up. This way I won't get my hopes up when I see an email from Sidra. But knowing is infinitly better than not knowing. Makes the waiting easier if I know there is a plan in place.

The sad part for me is that every single morning the first thing I do before I even get out of bed is check my cell phone for any emails from Sidra....and most mornings I am disappointed all over again.

Wow, Thanks for the support everyone. I'll keep researching the travel idea. Also, sort of maybe, check out other ME hospitals in Qatar? I have my friend at Hamad. He has been there for 5 years. We use to work together at CNMC. But I really want Sidra. Abby, your husband is amazing. Has your attested Police Clearance expired as well? Or just your CPR cards? My Police Clearance won't expire until August 11th. But I only paid a few dollars for mine as I can get to DC to do it myself. But if it gets to be August and we haven't heard anything I'm sure I will look else where. RRT, I told my employer a long time ago, back in Nov. when I signed the formal contract. Lucky for me they are OK with it. In fact we are so short staffed right now that we have Travelers here. Mary Catherine, thanks for your input! I have heard that it is slow going once in Qatar with the RP etc. but that does not bother me as much as at least I will be working and getting paid. Are you in Doha now? If so, do you see men working on that building?

No, no news. But, although I like my job OK I am so ready to move on from CNMC. I was thinking about a travel assignment. There is an interesting one in Alaska for the summer and one in California. I don't think Sidra will move us in the next 13+ weeks. Maybe do that until Sidra starts mobilizing? Thoughts? Do you think that would jeopardize going to Sidra? It would make the waiting easier.

Thank you RRT, My recruiter update: (copied) In regards to your Visa application, my Manager was in correspondence with the Recruitment Manager for Allied Health today and was told an official update should be released to us shortly regarding specific candidates in the process/timeline- as soon as we have been advised, I will let you know. I needed this little notice. The past couple of weeks have been hard. Without having anyone to contact or get updates from any more at Sidra HR, I have been feeling a little lost and that bad things might be happening. So Thank You for some good news. On another note. At CNMC, where I work, we have another pt from Qatar in our CICU. I have been taking care of this pt and have been visiting with the parents as well. They are super friendly and have told me many nice things about Doha etc. They are familar with Sidra and thought it was opening soon as the building looked completed. The mother's sister works for the Qatar Fondation and she asked if she could have my email and that she would see if her sister would be able to give us a timeline of opening date. Waiting is brutal.

Abby and RRTNICU, went to the MOI site and found my visa but its the 'work-business' visa I told you all about when the Qarat Embassy stamped it into my passport. I don't know if its the correct kind or not. Its good for a year with a 1 month duration. Sorta doesn't matter as I've not heard anything about a license, or from Sidra at all as they now have the portal. Again, the hospital has delayed its opening and yes they will bring us over early to train and help set up units but they don't need us a whole year early. Back in Nov. I had been told via a phone call to me from Sidra that I would go over the 1st quater of 2015. That was before the delay. I know RRT is slated for an April/May departure. Hope that still happens. I still think that once one of us goes the others will be close behind. (I copied and paste from the website) Visa Number 1...... Name ....... KATHY Nationality Usa Passport Number 4........... Description Of Visa Owner Passport Holder Gender Female Visa Type WORK-BUSINESS VISA MULTI ENTRY Travel Index MULTI ENTRY Stay Duration 1-MONTH Date of Issue 2015-02-10 Visa Validity 2016-02-10 Visa Status VALID TO USE

Hi All, Heather, who is in Doha does not know when anything will happen. Just that its in the plans. I know that she is at the point where she would like more bedside staff as most of the managerial stuff seems to be on track. But she is the ED nurse manager and does not know what is going on in the other depts. Just the ED. There are several RN's from our ED that are going but they have been placed on hold. Just holding out hope that the Easter Bunny brings us all a golden egg. This is an interesting website http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/country_result.jsp?country=Qatar

Funny how our experiences seem to be different. Except the wait of course, that seems to be the same for everyone... I had 1 phone interview in Sept. 2014 and a skype interview a few weeks later. Both were easy. I had to provide 3 months of current pay slips with a detailed explanation of how I got paid, shift diff., charge, ECMO etc. plus paid holidays and amt of paid vacation time I get at my present job. Maybe b/c I've been at my present job for 10+ years? It didn't bother me to send the pay slips. My package was very attractive so maybe that paid off? I also got a quick email last week that I had been assigned to a recruiter. Not sure what that ment but no one has emailed me sence. Its a waiting game.

A13, Thanks for getting back in touch. Very sorry the numbers did not work out for you. You will be missed. Abby and RRTNICU, I did get in touch with Heather, we worked together at Childrens in DC for years before she left last year for Doha. She did verify that everyone would be working a short while at Hamad. She also indicated that that would be a good thing and she is looking forward to it. She misses bedside pt care. For me its what ever it takes to get there. Have not heard a thing from the 'portal'. I do check it almost daily. And every week I ask another question on the help and support page... Who knows, maybe Easter Sunday will be the day we hear some good news.

Abby, you and I went through Sidra and that maybe the difference. I went back and checked all my emails from HR mostly looking for the dates that I did send in my documents. I can not find where I sent in my attested police report so sent it to HR. (Portal is not working. I guess there are some bugs with the program, it happens.) But I signed my contact on 11/19 and last of my documents (except police clearence) on 02/18/15. On 3/16/15 they asked for more info on my BS. So I'm working on being positive and saving that it is truely being worked on. But still fear something my be missing/wrong about my file. So we will get there, just takes time

Good news ladies, I got an email from my HR recruiter at Sidra who forward to me 2 questions from the licensing department. The questions were about some college credits that had transfered and if I had recieved an Associates prior to my BS (which I do not) and the date that I started my BS program. Easy questions, but the good news is they are looking at our information now. Still no answer from the Portal FAST people. Abby, sorry about the additional snow storm. Where in Canada do you live?

I did upload everything AGAIN on the portal and asked for further instructions. Have not heard back and everything just says 'Pending' on my logistics tab in MySidra. As I live 1.5 hrs from Washington DC and do work in DC I did my own attestation at the Qatar Embassy in DC. It was quite the learning curve but now that I know exactly how to do it I could have another one done if needed within 2-3 weeks tops. But I'm not doing anything until they tell me to. I'm up to date on all they have asked. Just to make it worse, my cost for the attesting was; 35.00 for the gold seal fingerprinting, 5.00 for the Maryland state gold seal (and a drive to Annapolis) 7.00 to the US state dept gold seal and 6.00 to the Qatar Embassy. Plus of course the travel time and Uber taxis and the stress. Those agencies really stick it to people. But Sidra will re-inburse you. And the waiting goes on...Good things come to those who wait, right?

I'm not following? I went back to the Sidra website for jobs and re-read the requirements for RT III. I did not see any difference. I have a print out of the job summary for RT III that I printed out back in May 2014. In the new requirements they dropped the mention of AA and it still includes the ECMO/ECLS. The only real difference is that they are accepting Associates Degrees now and only 3 yrs experience instead of 5 yrs. That just makes us higher on the ladder as we have the more advance degrees. Were you hired in as a RT II? I was always hired in as a RT III. I too applied for the RT II as I'm not an AA but on my Skype interview with the Anesthesiologist at Sidra they moved me up to RT III and sent my offer to me as a RT III. My take on that was they did not have enough AA's applying and were taking RT's with ECMO experience. And Sidra, like all hospitals will promote on ones attitude, proven abilities and if you are a good worker/employee. We just got to get there first. On another note, a PICU RN at Seattle's Children contacted me when she got the Portal email and she was placed on hold. She sent me a phone pic of her email stating that her start date has been delayed. Did you both know that once your police clearance has been attested you have only 6 months for it to be valid? My was attested and stamped by the Embassy on Feb. 2. I also sent out today for the 2nd letter to have my license verified straight to Sidra. (It was required on the portal) I had done the one to the SCH back in 11/2014.

Plus it does not want to upload a folder so therefore I'm not sure on how to upload multiple items like all my certifications. It seems that it will only do one. But I will keep plugging along....I've come to far to turn back now.

Hi, lots going on right now. Abby, I did see something on the Sidra website where they updated the job discription for RT III but I did not actually read it. I will go back and re-read it. Did you both get the email from Sidra about the 'MySidra Online Portal' ? I got the email from Sidra on Saturday but was at work until Sunday night and could not open to read everything. (Our personal emails are blocked from work computers and hard to read/respond to everything on my cell). So opened it today and read through everything. First, it is a very impressive portal. I read the section under General Info. Very impressive. Looks like everything for me is 'Pending' when I go through my personal portal....not sure what that means. However, a PICU RN who is at Seattle Children's said her email said everything was on hold. I guess pending is better then on hold. I plan on going back through it all and resending my documents on the Portals site. Let me know when you get yours. As you 2 went through recruiters I'm guessing you will get that email today. I will keep in touch by Tuesday. RRTNICU. I just resent the friend request, not sure what happened to the 1st. one. And yes, it has to be you, you have a picture of Doha as one of your cover photos + it says you work at Tulane.

Ladies, Well as you know I work in D.C. and therefore I am close to the Qatar Embassy in D.C. I was able to do my own attestation of my police clearance. There was quite the learning curve on just getting the proper police clearance...but I got all the correct papers gold sealed. ( RRTNICU, the final signed and gold sealed document was signed by John Kerry! It is his actual signature and not just a stamp or photo copied signature). So I take all this to the Embassy and they said it was all correct and I paid them and they said come back in 10 business days. They had also kept my passport. So in 10 days I go back and they hand me my passport back, but none of my documents. The gentleman said I did not need those documents. The Qatari gentleman opens my passport and in it I have a Visa! Its a very impressive visa, takes the whole page has a hologram etc. Of course I'm pretty excited so I scan it right away to the HR person at Sidra who has my case. And then I start looking at it closer and realize its a Business Visa good for 1 month. I had expected to pick up my packet of documents stamped from the Embassy which would have been my attested papers per the instructions sent to me from HR. HR emailed me back and said it was not the correct visa and that they have sent this info along to other HR people to have it fixed. So, just waiting to hear back. I will email my friend who is the Clinical Manager of the Pediatric ED and ask her how long she had to wait once her paper work was done. She is very positive about Sidra and Doha. She has been there for over a yr and her husband and children are with her and doing well. The waiting is hard, but the hospital is not going to be open for another 8 months and we are all bedside care givers so why would they bring us over so early....I don't want to rain on our parades but that is kinda what I'm thinking.

Abby86 and RRTNICU, I have been unable to pick up my attested documents from the Embassy. D.C. has had a few snow falls and the city closes down to only 'essential' personnel. But tomorrow is a new day and I'm going tomorrow. After I scan those to HR at Sidra I will be able to ask better questions on a possible date. Did you both get the Sidra Relocation Handbook yet? Sidra sent one to me in Jan. and its been helpful. I have been in touch with 2 past co-workers of mine, one is an RN already working in Sidra and has been there for over a year. The other is also an RN but does not work at Sidra but another hospital. He has been in Doha for 5 years. Both are now facebook friends of mine and very helpful. The RN at Sidra, her name is Heather, worked in our ED. She is now the manager of the ED at Sidra. Her exact quote was "we really need some RT's to help set up the ED". She was very positive about everything. She even offered to pick me up from the airport. I will email her at her Sidra email for more info. Its good to know that we will have a friend when we arrive. ...RRTNICU in case you still work with any other past RT's from CNMC my last name is Mills. (Kathy Mills)

abby86, they started my license before Christmas. I have been working at the same hospital for over 10 years so I mailed off to the DOH (dept. of health) here in Washington DC requesting they send my Certificate of Good Standing directly to the Supreme Council Of Health, Qatar. I was instructed to do this by Sidra. (I'm not with a recruiter but directly with Sidra) I included a pre-paid envelope addressed to the SCH with my request to the D.C. DOH so that D.C. would have no reason to not mail it out quick to Qatar. A few weeks ago Sidra emailed me saying they received the returned documents. And then when Sidra called me 2 weeks ago she said it was my references they were having trouble getting back and waiting on the rest of my documents for my visa. So I think my license is OK and its the visa, but who really knows. I go on Wed, 02/18 back to the Qatar Embassy to pick up my documents as the attestation will be done, scan them directly to Sidra and then wait and see what happens next. RRTNICU and abby86. I just found out that 2 of my past co-workers from CNMC are already at Sidra. Both RN's. One was a RN in our ED but had moved into administration. She has been in Doha with husband and 3 children for over a year. The other RN was a CICU RN who worked bedside. I knew him the best although he was night shift and I'm day shift. So tomorrow I am going to friend them on facebook. See what happens....

RRTNICU, Did not work in Pensacola as a RT so did not know Diane. But did work with Jolie for the entire time she was here. I have been at Children's National for 10 years now, time flies! I always liked Jolie and although she may not fond memories of CNMC I have fond memories of her. She did a good job here, her only downfall was giving a few people to much trust. Does Ochsner do neo and pediatric ECMO? Gary said he was at Childrens. I'll ask him tomorrow when I go back to work. I have a co-worker who worked at Tulane about 10 years ago. Shelly Scheild. Also Kathy Regan worked at Tulane or Ochsner about 20 yrs ago. Did Authxpert get your attestment back to you yet? If so that was really quick. I pick my up this week. Abby, I am under the impression that my licensing is good to go but its my Visa that is not complete yet. I still have to pick up my attested documents from the Embassy in D.C. So ball is still in my court for a few more days. What country are you in?

Abby86, Went to the Qatar Embassy in Washington DC yesterday and handed in my final documentation for authentications. So many times I thought I was 'done' with all I had to do on my end. I pick these documents back up in 7-10 days and then scan to Sidra. Sidra did call me last week but I was in a busy hallway and could not hear her very well. I followed up with an email and will hear back on Sunday or Monday. I think she was calling about my references. My references were having trouble downloading the form Sidra sent. I think thats been resolved. My understanding from Sidra is that my licensing went through and now I'm finishing up on my visa part. But its still a wait.

RRTNICU, 1st. I was talking to my ECMO Director here at Children's and he had just taught a ECMO class at your hospital. Gary is a master in the simulation lab. Anyway, he knew about me and Sidra. 3 of his ECMO students at your hospital were taking the class because they are going to Sidra. They are docs and Sidra required? them to do this sims lab. Wish I knew this before Gary taught this class. I think I will be spending more time in our sims lab. 2nd. Sidra called me yesterday but I was actually at the State Dept handing in my documents and it was so noisy I couldn't hear well. I followed up with Sidra via email letting her know I couldnt really hear all she had said to me. Hopefully she will answer with an email by Sunday. 3rd. College transcripts. I sent my resp. transcripts and that was fine but they requested proof of my actual diploma. They absolutely had to have a scanned copy of my diploma and when I get to Qatar I have to show them my real diploma. Of course I have no idea what happened to my diploma. So I called the University where I got my BSRCP and they sent me a PDF plus I paid $35.00 for a new diploma to be mailed to me. I scanned the PDF to Sidra a few weeks ago. I will go today and do the fb page on Sidra. Abby 86....we are waiting with you....

All, Yes, the waiting that Abby is still doing is worrisome. I did get an email from Sidra asking for referrals. I sent referrals a long time ago but I know they did not contact my referrals. So they asked for them again and I resent them and Sidra has contacted all the referrals 3 days ago. So Sidra is still working on it. However, my police clearance won't be handed in to the Embassy until Thursday at the soonest. Thats providing that everything is correct. Hindsight being 20/20 I would have paid an agency to do this part for me. But it was $300.00 for an agency where as I live in the DC area and the fees are actually only a few dollars. RTTNICU, how is the agency that you hired doing on the turn around time? By the way where do you work in N.O.? I knew some RT's that worked at Children's in NOLA. I'm at Children's National in DC. I have a patient in our NICU that is from Qatar. They live in Qatar and are only here for medical treatment. The parents are very nice and they are thrilled to have Sidra as their child will need further treatments and they would really like to stay in Doha and be able to care for their beautiful baby in their own country.

RRTNICU, I'm confused, are you planning on opening a store account or some other proof that you are in Doha while still here in the states? I have not started looking at the whole tax issue. Guess I better start on that. I really do not want Uncle Sam taking any of my dollars that I earn in another country.

Hi Abby and Kathy! Ok I signed the employment agreement(16 pages). Today which was Thursday I got my Sheriffs certificate/fingerprint info(arrest record). Now its Friday(0100) here and today I will go get a bunch of paperwork notarized and get a **** load of passport size photos. Blue and white backgrounds. Will use the authxperts.com for Attestation that Sidra recommended. When I go back to work get my employment certificate. I will also call my licensing board here in Louisiana and get them to work on the certificate of good standing. Went to my Accountant because I had questions on taxes. The best time to leave the USA is at the beginning of the year because we need so many days in Qatar to be tax exempt (the physical presence test is 330 days for 12 months starting in Jan.). BUT there are other ways to show we live there/residents like: Your family(husband) accompanies you. You rent or buy a home. You participate in foreign community activities. Speak the language. Join clubs in Qatar. Have a permanent foreign address. Or get charge accounts(stores) in that country. Believe me I will do one or more of the above as this is the reason I'm going......to be tax exempt. Kathy it sounds like they are moving a little faster. Hope so. Im off to try to sleep(hard to sleep normal when you're a night shift worker) so I can get all that stuff done today.

RRTNICU Just got back today still working on my police clearance. Not quite as clear as I thought. I am lucky to be able to get to the U.S. State Dept. which is located in DC as well as the Qatar Embassy. I guess if you are using an agency for the attesting that is very good. Just pay the money. The needed documents and seals are inexpensive, under $10.00 each, but the learning curve is pretty steep. Plus everything is located here in DC. Not just an hours drive for you. However, on Thursday I go back to the U.S. State Dept with my final docs. Fingers Crossed all goes OK. They only take walk-ins from 08:30 -09:30. Everything else is done and has been cleared and OKed by Sidra. They have contacted my references. I think I am close. Time will tell. What Abby86 says is worrisome. Waiting on any gov't is usually time consuming.

abby86, Glad you are still pushing on. Maybe they are moving a little faster as I did hear from the HR person in Qatar and they needed another copy of my university degree. So I'm thinking they went through my file to be sure it was all in order. I go tomorrow morning to the State Dept. of the U.S. at 0800 to drop off my last document. I'm getting close, I think.

Hi, I went last Friday for the 2nd try at the finger printing part of my police clearance and pretty sure it was the correct type this time. Should be back by Friday. Are you using a recruiter or did you just apply online at the Sidra website? Did you get your provisional offer or the legal formal offer? They are the same, just using the legal terms in the formal offer. The formal offer does take a few weeks to be emailed to you. It is an 11 page document that you sign. I've not heard anything lately, just a short email saying they recieved some documents from me which can only be my copy of my DC license which was sent directly to them from the DC board. Or from the Hire Right company in the UK that does our background check. But the ball is in my court and they are waiting on me to get the police clearance done. Not sure what has happened to the others, hope all is well.

RRTNICU, I did the first part of the police clearance incorrect. I did get finger printed but did not realize that there is several different degrees of finger printing. I am very fortunate to live close to DC so that I can go to the Embassy in person. It was the Embassy that showed me what I needed. I will redo my finger printing at the Maryland state level for clearance for a visa. Not just for police record checking for employment. I have an appointment on Friday. That takes about 5 business days. I will take that back to the Embassy to be sure I have done that 1st step correct before going to the next step. Still hoping for a Feb. departure, but who knows. Did you decide on the RTIII or a supervisior position?

RRTNICU, Most of the documents are the same that you sent to begin the Provisional Offer process. Copy of your RRT, NPS, PALS, CPR, BS,License, Passport etc. Then it was a matter of getting the state that you are licensed in to mail your creditials direct to Doha, a letter from your hospital stating how long you have been employed on hospital letterhead. Really the basic stuff that any new employer would request. The police clearance is more time consuming and I have started that process but not through it yet. First step is to get finger printed in your state. That took about a week to get the results back. Next you take that paper to your state capital to the head of safety person (its the person who signed your clearance) and they have to noterize and put a gold seal on it. (I have not done this step yet so not positive how it goes) Then I have to take it back to DC for the federal safety people to noterize/gold seal it and then I take it to the Embassy. You will most likely have to do it by mail. BUT, don't forget I am in this process now so I may not have it completely right. It will be another week before I even start it on the state level as I will be out of town for the week. Sidra will give you step by step directions after you sign your formal offer which is like a 10 page document. Just keep on working and going about your life and know that there is always a bit of a wait. I never asked about scrubs or housing etc. They will tell me when its time. Scrubs I don't care to much (I'm a solid color kind of scub person). It will be nice to know exactly where the housing is but HR doesn't have that info. The Relocation Team handles housing. I will keep you posted.

RRTNICU Congrats on your offer! What position did you decide to accept? I seem to remember that you were interested in several possibilities. I just heard that a few of our ED RN's have accepted offers at Sidra as well. I am in my final phase which is turning out to be the toughest. It is the police clearance procedure. It isn't hard just time consuming. Qatar is very serious about safety and thats not a bad thing. Doha bound hopefully by the end of Feb.

To RRT NICU>All my paper work said a BS is mandatory. I have moved on to the next step which is a list of documents required for "mobilization into Doha". Most of the documents are repeats of information that I have already sent, so its easy enough to just resend.

Abby86 and RRTNICU, I am not sure what exactly Sidra has planned for me. But I am very happy to be going. I am not an AA. I too looked up all the requirements and I informed Sidra on my skype interviews exactly what my qualifications are and are not. I honestly do not think this is a supervisory position. My formal contract says RT III. I do have ECMO experience and currently sit ECMO when pumps are running. But as we all know its not like we have pumps running every day. I do not prime pumps. I do assist in cannulations but I am not the primary ECMO person during cannulations. I do set up and use nitric in our OR and in the cath lab and I do assist the anesthesiologist in the OR with nitric and the ICU vents during difficult cases. My housing is included in my package and is not a housing allowance. I will keep everyone posted on the steps. I think that if RT's know what the steps are and the time frame it takes for Sidra to process all that information it will help keep RT's from 'giving up'. I do know of a few RN's and RT's that became frustrated with the wait and withdrew their applications. I always have to remind myself that I am a bedside person and there are no bedsides at Sidra yet. But the waiting is hard.

Oh this is great!!!!! Said hello on FB also. I live in New Orleans La. USA. An RRT with over 26 years experience. NICU, PICU, ADULT ICU, CCU, ECMO etc. I do Transports, fixed wing, ambulance, helicopter. Right now I'm a Supervisor at a very busy Childrens Hospital. And I have applied through Cavendish Staffing Ltd for a position at Sidra. Have had all my interviews and waiting on the salary offer/contract. And you? Hello, first time to use the forum, very glad I found this forum! I have been offered a RT III at Sidra and could not be more excited! I currently work at Children's National Hospital in Washington DC and have been at CNMC for 10+ yrs. working in all ICU's + transport and ECMO + charge RT. I started this process back in June and just last week signed my formal contract. I have been notified by the background check company and that is being worked on by Hire Right Co. Right now things are moving pretty fast. Sidra's HR has given me a tentative start date of the 1st quarter of 2015. I was very happy with my offer. However, I am lucky to be debt free with some rental property in Pa. I'm married and my husband will be joining me when he retires from his job in June.
