Hi all, I'm after some advice from residents of The Villa! Possible move from the Ranches to The Villa and want to know what its like living there? Whats the school run like in the mornings, I would exit onto E311 heading North and need to u-turn at the SO turn off to come back down the E311 towards the Ranches What facilities are there; supermarket, communal pools, parks etc I'd really appreciate any advice and information any body has. TIA

I have lived with Ulcerative Colitis for over 12 years now, and last year during a routine colonoscopy my consultant came across a tiny polyp, it was removed and tested and thankfully all was ok. I am totally aware of 'what could be', but i refuse to let it rule my life. I exercise and eat a healthy diet, get screened regularly, but most of all i stay positive, why worry over something that hasn't happened!! Try not to worry to much, and wish you good health.

Your best bet is to register it with an agent - they can handle most of this for you. But depending what sort of boat it is, will decide how easy it is to sell. It took over a year for us to sell ours. Thank you FairyDust. Do you mind me asking which agent you used?? TIA

Hi, I'm looking to sell my boat. It's registered in Abu Dhabi, and was wandering if anyone knows the process involved in selling it. How do I transfer ownership, get my deposit back for the transponder, do i have to take my boat someplace to be seen etc etc. is there a company that does it all for you???????? Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

You could try Shadows in Abu Dhabi, they will pick up and deliver your sofa and make and fit your curtains. I've used them for curtains and a friend of mine recently had her IKEA fabric sofa covered in tan leather. They are very good and quick! Sorry can't recommend anyone in Dubai! Good luck!

I'm from North Wales, born and bred, it's my Homeland and I love every inch of it, miss it terribly! I can highly recommend; Snowdon railway Castles (Conwy, Caernarfon, Harlech etc) Bounce Below - i did this last summer and depending on the age of you kindly winks, i would not take them if they are under 10yrs! (don't be fooled into thinking you are going to bounce on a trampoline, they are cargo type nets and you'll come away with bruised shoulders having gone down the net tubes!!) Great Orme Copper Mines very interesting GreenWood Forest Park for a fun filled day Mountain Biking in Betws-y-Coed. The list is endless, not to mention the beautiful beaches around the coasts. What ever you decide, I hope you have a wonderful time!

I stopped going there few years back, their service was dreadful and the staff were so rude. I emailed the area manager with my complaint, and guess what.....never even got a courtesy reply, diddly squat! Zero! Take my business elsewhere..... The Nail Spa at the Golf Club, lovely place make you feel really welcome and their treatments are fabulous! :-)

Can anyone recommend a good Handyman/Decorator?? After the torrential rain last night, I discovered this morning that it had made it's way through the exterior wall into our lounge ceiling and down the inside wall! So I'm looking for someone who can seal, patch and paint basically!!

Never seen senior management in the 2 and half years i've been at the school, only the security guards, and they only stop traffic to let children cross. As the school doesn't own the sand pit area of a car park, they won't take any responsibility what so ever if any incident happens, we have to call the police!! I had a very traumatic experience when another parent (Male Sikh!) verbally attacked me in front of his children, shouting and swearing his head off and i mean really swearing, because i'd asked him to move his car as he was blocking me in, i was so socked at his language and manner, I phoned the school straight away and they told me to report him to the police, not their responsibility!!

Nice to hear Dubai Police are 'Nice' Abu Dhabi Police on the other hand, 'AWFUL' I got stopped once when I lived in AD, I pulled over, he got out and walked to my car and demanded not asked, for my docs. His english was so bad, I couldn't understand a word he was saying, and because I was taking a few seconds to try and figure out what on earth he was asking me, he started to bang down his hands on the window and then started shouting at me, it was awful, I had my 8yr old with me and she started crying, we were both really scared! Nasty, nasty man!

Make sure you ask for the correct background colour, white or off white! I went to the Kodak shop in Arabian Ranches mall and argued with the guy there as he was adamant the background colour had to be light green for UK!!! I got the correct colour in the end, and even went back with a print out from the official website and showed him!! Idiot!!

Had this happen to me, it's such a pain in the posterior! SZR supposedly speeding at 12.50pm, yet was at work, didn't leave until late afternoon, go figure, such an incompetent system!! I was told once when I went to re-register my car that there are duplicate plate numbers/vehicles in other Emirates, so it seems which ever shows up first on the system gets the fine!

I got mine from Lakeland. They have different sizes for quilts/blankets or curtains/cushions etc, I would recommend them, they are really good!.

Hi there, I used Hairworks in Abu Dhabi for 5 years and now use them at Ibn Battuta, never had a bad experience, then again the girls I went to were British, very well trained and qualified. Prices are expensive, but i'm willing to pay to get good results. The girl I go to is called Heidi! Good luck!

I've had the same issue, it's now been 9 months since old LL inspected his villa, (which he sold as soon as I vacated by the way!) and he couldn't praise it enough about how clean and well looked after it was! To date, i've had so many empty promises like; 'I'm out of the country, as soon as I return i will contact you' and 'I'm not going to run off with your deposit'. Since leaving the old villa I have found out that my old LL is a very dodgy bloke, dutch/moroccan, wheeler dealer, he'd turn up at the villa in a brand new Ferrari one week then a brand new Aston Martin the next, fingers in pies type of guy!! No shortage of money there, which baffles me, as the amount of deposit he needs to return would be like pin money to him!! So i'm really reluctant to go to the Rents Committee because of the kind of person i'd have to deal with, i'd be constantly looking over my shoulder and i don't want to live like that, so i've now written it off as a bad experience and hope to god I don't come in contact with the likes of him again. I hope you get yours back without any further hassle very soon.

Lived in Abu Dhabi for five years and never had an issue, first rental after moving to Dubai and it's been such a hassle! At least I have all paperwork, visa/passport copies, so I guess it's my next move to go to the rent committee/police. Thanks.

I had a call the other day claiming that I'd won 500,000dhs from Etisalat, obviously I knew it was a scam, so I thanked the person on the phone and asked them if they wouldn't mind if I passed their number onto the police??, they hung up straight away!! Not had another call since!
