You helped me locate someone to make labels but now I need a photographer to take photos for my LookBook. Had one but she had to leave the country for an assignment and I don't know who else to go to in Dubai. Any suggestions?

I have been designing jackets and am ready to see if there is a market for them. Most that have seen them really like them but I need to go the next step. Can anyone suggest a place where I can have labels made to my own design? Thanks for any suggestions!

We had our two gazebo covers replaced by Top Form. When they delivered them they looked great but with the first wind they started to rip in the corners and where they were connected by elastic straps. They did come and take them for repair but they now have different color material where they were repaired and they still do not fit correctly. If you use them make sure they do not make them so tight that they have no give in bad weather. However, they started to tear with just a little wind. We have been really disappointed and am thinking of finding another company if anyone knows of one.

In the past 3 weeks my daughter and myself have had to had x-rays on knee and foot and went to Medcare Orthopaedic Clinic on SZR. We went to emergency and within minutes saw a doctor and had x-rays. We are both on the mend and I recommend them highly.

I just finished reading a book by Rebecca Bricker and have received her blog. If you want to go to Italy to celebrate your 40th you might want to consider her adventure. " I’d like to provide a stage for a transformational travel experience that begins with plucking sun-warmed grapes off the vine as you stroll through a vineyard. Painting a landscape that inspired Leonardo da Vinci. Exploring the back alleys of an ancient village or the remains of Etruscan ruins. Roaming the countryside on a Vespa (mamma mia!). And at the end of the day, coming ‘home’ to a 14th century farmhouse where a sumptuous Tuscan meal awaits you – at a table where fellow travelers share their tales." http://rebeccabricker.com/blog I loved my 40's and hope you do, too!

Depending on what size, I may have one that you can have since my daughter choose to wear a different one. Email me at loriewcg at hotmail dot com but be sure to put something in the subject line that identifies you since I get a lot of spam.

I have used them for years and will tell them about how much I want to spend. They have been very accomodating. I never worry about what the arrangement will look like when I order from them.

I see Dr. Lynn Eckert at City who is US trained. However, I have also heard good reviews about Dr. Susan Norton at Dubai Physiotherapy and Family Clinic in Town Centre in Jumeirah. She specialized in the elderly when in Canada. Her number is 04 349 6333 and they have a 24 hour answering service.

I tried to attach the map but failed. It is on Road 8 behind Times Square. It is one of main roads through Al Quoz. If you email lauren at shampooch dot ae she will send you a map. It is the only place that I take my dog as he has had some horrible experiences in the past.

Hi Sevana, I noticed your post the other day and before I throw away my Sunset (featuring CA) and Santa Barbara magazines, I thought I'd see if you would want them. They help me with my California homesickness but I have too many of them and need to "recycle". We still have our home in Sierra Madre...not too far from Glendale.

You can contact In The Mix Studio by emailing Nash at [email protected] or Joshua at [email protected]. They are really busy right now so don't know if they could meet your deadline but they may know someone that would be able to.

I understand the mixed feelings that my previous post may have caused but there are two sides to the situation. My personal experience is that we have four adult children but when they were young one was diagnosed as very gifted, another as dyslexic (not less intelligent but looked at things differently) and two that were “typical” but did not always enjoy school. I was always keeping in contact with the teachers and administrators to make sure that my children were receiving the education that would benefit them in the future. I fought what they called “tracking” to be sure my children were all receiving what they needed. As a parent it is something that you have to be active in throughout their school years. During this time I was privileged to work for a renowned Child Psychologist in the US. His guidance and books that he wrote were very helpful. If a child is continuously disruptive so that the rest of the students are affected then action should be taken because it is not fair to the disruptive child or the others in the classroom. In Dubai parents pay a great deal for their children to receive an education and they all need receive the best for their children. I agree, that regarding the child in my daughter’s classroom (my daughter is 35 with 2 children), neither the teacher nor my daughter are trained for a special needs child which may be what he needs at this time. I think everyone wants what is best for all students involved. Perhaps, a Shadow Teacher would provide the necessary attention that the student needs to adapt to the classroom. Regarding CCDsmom, your daughter is 4 years old. To label her at this age is unconscionable. If she needs a Shadow, pick one that will help her with her self-confidence and whatever learning assistance that she may need at this age. Do not be too discouraged. I always celebrated that fact that my children were o.k. at being different. As grown children, two are very business minded, one is accomplished in music and one is very artistic and musical. Proud of them all and I am sure you will be proud of yours also!

I just want to add a different perspective to this thread. My daughter is an aid at a school in Dubai and for the last month on a daily basis one child has bitten her, punched her, kicked her and spat upon her. This happens as she intervenes between the child beating up on another child who is usually much smaller or when the child is supposed to do something that he just doesn’t want to do. Twice they have cleared the classroom because the child starts throwing chairs etc and they need to protect the other children. One teacher who has experience in working with special needs children says that the child should not be in the classroom as it is not good for him or the other children. However, the parents have said that there is nothing wrong but have agreed to assessment tests for the child. We have told our daughter that she doesn’t need to take the abuse but she doesn’t want to give up yet. She adores the other children and hopes that this child will be able to adjust. Personally, I do not feel this is fair to the child who needs more help than the schools in Dubai seem to be able to offer or to the other children who really do want to learn but the attention that this child requires throughout the day is disruptive to their studies.

I will confess that I did have the gastric balloon surgery a few years ago in Dubai. It is something that I would never do again and wish someone would have advised me against it. After 3 months, while on holiday, the balloon deflated and moved into my small intestine. I became very sick and was rushed into emergency for surgery to remove it. I have had problems since that time with scar tissue, blockage etc. Please do your research and talk to others who have it before you decide to go through with it.

I always buy from Harry and David when back in California. and have friends bring me my "fixes" when they come to visit. I love their Fajita Chili mix, Pepper and Onion Relish (actually all their relishes) and chocolate covered cherries. If they are close to Santa Barbara then I have them bring me anything from the shop at Gainey Vineyards, especially their Cranberries and Wine topper for soft cheese. Now, I'm getting homesick.

I have the Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 injections every 2 months as I too have a malabsorption problem after having stomach surgery a few years ago. The Vitamin D injection does not cause pain but with the B12 injection there is some pain.

Shriners Hospitals in the US treat children up to 18 for free. There are about 15 orthopedic hospitals throughout the US and they do treat Perthes disease. They also provide free transportation to and from appointments.

I agree with The Mango Tree in Souk al Bahar. It is one of the few restaurants in Dubai that seems to be getting better with time instead of going downhill after a few months. Try and get a table outside and you will have a fantastic view of the fountain and the Burj Khalifa.

We decided on the Al Nahkeel Villas and as I wrote previously here are the reasons why: "The Al Nahkeel Villas have a few available. They are not for everyone but if you like a community of older ranch-style independent villas with maids room, gardens on all sides, streets with mature green trees, swimming pool, tennis courts, restaurant, gym, easy access to SZR, next to Umm Suquiem and across from al Barsha, then you might like these. The community consists of singles/couples to young families and older couples. They have gone down in price so a 3 bedroom is around 165,000, I think." I do think there are still villas available but people seem to be moving in daily. They are older but the maintanance company is quick to take care of any problems that we have had since moving in. Our restaurant also delivers to your villa if you are too tired to cook or to go out. They have 3 and 4 bedroom villas and 2 bedroom townhomes. If you want contact info, I can get it for you.
