why dont you try bringing some relative??. I am having the same dilemma now, although still 6 months away to give birth. I am really going to try to get MIL to help me or some relative, after 1 year I will put the baby in the daycare I think, I dont think I can trust a maid. I only get 45 days maternity leave so will have my mother coming over to help at least until the baby is 3 months old, after which she has to go back as she still works. My mother-in-law can't make it.

JoannaS, I work full time too but not sure I can trust a maid with my baby. Every time I tell people I'm planning to take the baby to daycare they look at me like it's a really insane idea. I would feel safer with the daycare as I'm sure they're trained for this but thought to ask you ladies on EW just incase there was something I may not have thought of.

I was covered with them for years and was very happy but, as with all insurance, make sure to [u'>really[/u'> read the small print.

BeckieK- Are you buying your AXA insurance in DUBAI? If so can you please tell me how much it will cost you? In dubai whenever I called to find out most quotes were around 16-18k a year for health Insurance for one person over 50 years of age which is way too high.... These should be the rates from AXA: http://www.axa-gulf.com/for-individuals/health-insurance#

Just wondering if April/May was a good time to visit Kenya (ie is it rainy season?). This might be useful info for October. The weather right now is pretty unpredictable (just like everywhere else in the world) but, it used to rain in March/ April and dry from may through to August with the 'cold' season in June/ July.

I would think the prices should be just about the same all round. There's an Emirates Driving School at Ibn Battuta.

According to osn website it starts 2nd feb on america plus (channel 40). Doesn't say which season but hopefully it is. Can't wait, its not going to be the same without simon though! Why so late? It's usually aired the day after it's been aired in the US. Izzy99, is it any good without Simon, so far?

Why don't you send them a polite email to find out what happened. Any employer that would choose to hire someone based purely on their looks is probably not worth working for in the first place.

We get ALICO (silver) through DH's company - you could try them - I assume they deal with individuals, as well as companies.....we have never had a problem with them. I don't think Alico handles individual covers, but I could be wrong. ETA: I've just checked online and Alico now have a new individual product: Metlife Alico.

That would depend on what you're looking for; whether you need to be covered for the UAE only, whether you travel often and need to be covered for the places you travel to, whether you have children, planning ot have others, whether you want dental, optical and/ or pre-existing conditions covered. As aline_JLT has mentioned, Daman is good, check out Bupa, AXA, Goodhealth, Aviva, Cigna, Allianz, etc for international covers

sorry to hijack but does anyone know when the rest of the stations will open on the Red line? RTA seems very vague about it but its been more than a year since the first ones opened. All the stations on the red line are now open except for the Jebel Ali ones that come after Ibn Battuta.

Yeah, but it's all relative at the end of the day if at the end of the month for example you were left with exactly the same amount in the bank in either country where would it be better to be? Does that make sense??!! Then I'd definitely pack up and go home.
