Being a mum is the best job in the world, but it's also very hard work. If you are at home all day, it's tough. If you are out all day, it is also tough having to make up for the time that you weren't there. If you work, you feel guilty because you work. If you don't work, you feel like you are losing your work skills or that you are not doing enough with your LO etc. At the end of the day you have to do what works for you and your family. Nobody else has the right to criticise your decision, nobody knows why you have made it, and absolutely nobody has the right to make you feel guilty about it. Your LO loves you more than anyone else in the world, no matter what your decision is. Really Like!! We need a 'Like' button here!

Easy answer? Give up work. Your child deserves your full-time attention. No need to panic ladies I just checked my calendar and it is 2011 not 1956. Sorry but have children evolved in some way that I am not aware about that requires them to have less attention these days from Mum than they did in 1956? lets see shall we: In '72 when I was born my mum still had to handwash and mangle all the clothes...a backbreaking, thankless, time consuming and constantly repetitive task. Through all those hours at the laundry, was her time focused solely on myself or my sisters? Not so much different from 1956, though probably a slightly easier task. All food was grown/harvested/slaughtered/processed from scratch. Given the machinery involved was the attention of my parents focused soley on their children? All of the cooking/canning/sauce making was done from scratch Clothes were made by hand, knitted and sewn from scratch. Their days RUSHED at fullspeed passed them in the effort to feed, clothe and shelter us. Their justice was swift, sure and punishing. Their time was consumed with the effort of raising their children to be strong, healthy, and to survive. And if some mums had to work to make ends meet they did, and everyone got on with it. People of my generation know that you only had to be home when the street lights came on, that we could only go inside if someone was bleeding, and that there had better BE blood. That we drunk from the outside tap if thirsty, and made dam sure we ate what was put infront of us, because there would be no more til the next meal. Our children of today have evolved somewhat then it seems: they require, demand and get (and deserve to a certain extent) more from their parents than their parents ever recieved. They have our constant 100% focus much of the time as the the demands of just 'living' have lessened with the availabilty of clothes/food, household chores and tasks being made easier with technology etc. I've read some of your judgemental posts on this thread Lady luck, and I don't wish to even get into the debate with working/versus SAHM with you...but if you must make sweeping generalizations in an attempt to back up your critical messages to a lot of women...could you at least use a little of your brain capacity to reason it through somewhat? Love this post!

At your next visit to City, ask for the insurance coordinator, they should be able to advise you on whether you need to get a package or not and would be able to coordinate with Daman on what you can and can noit have covered.

also another thing that can help is giving the baby water from soaked raisins... soak raisins 2-3 overnight in lukewarm water.give the baby this water in the morning...this really works!! prune juice etc will def relieve hard poo but doesn't sound like yours needs a stool softener and is also too young to be given these sorts of things. cycling the legs and tummy massage are good too, especially for gas, as is lots of tummy time. His stool is not hard when it comes out, he just has a problem getting it out. Assuming I were to try prune juice, how would I measure this?

also try doing simple exercises with the baby... cycling motion of the legs... lifting legs up and down and towards the tummy... all this helps stimulate motion which will eventually help ease the poo... hope it helps... also another thing that can help is giving the baby water from soaked raisins... soak raisins 2-3 overnight in lukewarm water.give the baby this water in the morning...this really works!! I have tried the cycling motion, which he loves, but all he does is pass wind, the poop still doesn't seem to come out. How much water would this be? Can I fill the 120ml bottles with this? I'm assuming it would still have to be warm when I give it to him. Is that the case?

Actually it is medically very rare for EBF babies to get constipated, but it is common that they might only poo once per week as they digest BM so efficiently. DS was a once a weeker from about age 2 months until he started solids. They can get very red faced when they poo but should not be crying or distressed and the poo should be yoghurty in consistency. Try removing all formula for a couple of weeks as it is the most likely culprit. EBF babies should not be given water but FF babies might need a little. Are you still giving colic meds?, an EBF baby that is actually constipated (as in the poo is hard) actually warrants medical investigation. You could remove dairy from your diet but here is no point in doing this while you are still giving formula. Yes, I'm still giving him the colic meds. His poo is not hard, its the normal consistency, when it eventually comes out, but he's in a lot of pain trying to get it out and it still doesn't come out even after he struggles so long. Now it's even interfering with his sleep.

The problem is that he seems to be in so much pain when he's trying to push it out. Need to take him to the doctor but she's fully booked the next 2 days. I honestly wish I knew what it is I could be eating that may be causing this. Can infants develop hemorrhoids?

Can you not just get an agency maid but instead of her living with you, ask her to find a place/ or help her find a place and you pay the rent for this? This is what I am hoping to do so I really hope that this is workable. Most of them will definitely know of places not too far away where they can find accomodation but you'll have to factor in the cost of her daily transport as well.

I went through the same with my DH before we got married, i.e. the no s£x bit. It's just a month and the least we can do is respect their decision. My DH has no problem with my eating when he is fasting but as I was not comfortable eating while in the same room, I try not to. The past few years I have opted to fast as well (makes it much easier and breaking the fast together has much more meaning IMO). This year, as I'm nursing I'm not sure what I'll do, but will tackle that when it comes.

Hi ladies My 6 week old lo is really suffering from terrible wind pain esp at night. He moans, pulls he legs up and is generally uncomfortable and really can't settle. Went to see my dr and he suggested bonnisol but that seemed to make him bring up his food so have tried infacol and gripe water for 2 weeks now and not really seeing any improvement. I'm breastfeeding and find it hard to get any wind up after a feed it usually happens a good 30 mins after if at all. Would really appreciate any ideas you may have on how to help my LO. X My little one is 5 weeks old and we're going through exactly the same thing and have tried everything. If you do find a solution that works, please post here so I can try that too.

Government Hospital don't deal with insurance companies so you'll have to pay for it and claim. Make sure to get a list of all the documents your insurance will need you to submit when claiming so as to avoid making several trips back and forth to Al wasl after having your baby.

scarlett78 and ecossedl, what are the costs involved for the agencies you have mentioned? I have also been looking for an agency that does this. Called them this is what I got quoted: Ethopian Dhs 1900 / month (they have them right now so you can meet and choose which one would suits you best) They also have Filipina (2400/month), and INdonesian Dhs 2200 Admin fee: 2500 (non refundable one time payment) The price quoted is for a 1 year contract. Needs to give Dhs 5000 undated Cheque which you will get back when you return the maid to the agency. Am interested in the Indonesian one but they don't have any right now ... Which agency?

I've changed jobs twice since this issue began and have been very lucky to not have had my account frozen. I believe it has to do with the wording when your EOSB are sent to the bank. Maybe you could ask your HR and/ or Finance to avoid mentioning that it's a final settlement when sending the money to the account.

I've heard a certain version of 'whatsapp' application also drains the blackberry battery. Although my 'whatsapp' is working fine and is not draining the battery. edited by Diamante on 21/04/2011 I've also been told that Whatsapp drains the battery. When I first loaded it onto my BB my battery kept going dead but now it lasts at least a day

Ibakari which doctor are you seeing if you dont mind me asking? If I remember correctly you are at medcare right? Why have you been told to have a c-section? is this the first you were told about a c-section or has it been mentioned from the start? I have been diagnosed with polyhydramnios and a borderline gestational diabetes. So the doctor doesn't want to take any risks. Due to the polyhydramnios, he has now got too big.

Hi All. I had my appointment yesterday and also had my foetal monitoring done, thereafter, had a check up with the doctor and have been scheduled for a C-Section next week. I'm not really sure how to feel as I'd had my heart set on having a natural birth. Anyway, looking forward to meeting my baby boy next week.

I don't think it would be possible to get the baby his/her own separate insurance. Any child under 18 needs to be covered with at least one adult. As Kermi said, for vaccination, the best route would be using the Health Card and going to a government clinic. That's what i'm hoping to do.

KIA Sportage is the cheapest 4x4 in the market and I am very happy with mine! Cannot really comment on safety features though... kia cars are not the safest of cars, if you want safest then look to the volvos. now that volvos are being made in china are they still considered safe? just wondering.

Hey ladies, I haven't been on for a while. Great to see you're all getting on well. Lucy111, aren't you lucky to be feeling like you could be pregnant forever. I'm just about fed up with being pregnant and just want to meet my baby. I'm not a very patient person, so this waiting-for-things-to-happen is beginning to get to me. Can one get raspberry leaf tea anywhere?

Congratulations! A few months back as I was also looking for a job and was about 10 weeks pregnant by the time I was called for my second interview. I came onto EW to ask the wonderful ladies here what they thought and got some great advice. I chose to be honest and told them about it before accepting the job and I still go it. I have absolutely no regrets and everyone at work, including management have been very understanding and very accomodating. I think 10 weeks is a little different to 2 weeks though. Dont get me wrong, you did the right thing and it has worked out well for you but not everyone here is as understanding as that I totally agree that there is a difference and had I been 2 weeks at that time, I'm not sure if I would have done the same. My intention was to share with the OP the fact that there can be some positive outcome to some of these situations.

The ladies at Salon 180 are really lovely and they do really good mani & pedis. Not sure about their other services as I've never had to use them. Thanks.. Where is this Salon? Which Building? Which Cluster? Zen Cluster. It's in between the DEWA offices and West Zone Supermarket. I'm not sure which number that is.

All sold out. I've been looking for some as well. Rumour has it that some people are hoarding them and may sell them at a higher price closer to Thursday.
