Thanks ladies! I have called quite a few places and they charge extortionate prices - its double the prices of back home!! If anyone finds a good doctor at reasonable prices please do let me know...

Honestly - in my experience with him he was amazing. I went through a traumatic surgery (cancer related... 7 days after my son was born) and i am so happy he was my surgeon! He went above and beyond for me, and amazing bedside manner, and obviously a very good surgeon (pathology confirmed this!)...So yes i absolutely would recommend him...

Didn't he give you post-dated cheques? I would send him message that you will deposit cheque by end of week...if he bounces cheque he will to jail unless he pays up...

We did this move a few years back (from dubai to doha) and we actually brought our nanny from dubai...super easy! If not yes you do need 6 months from the time you get your residency. But you can also put your child in daycare here in doha as an alternative (quite a few until 6pm in west bay), and get maid from company to help out few hours per day or week (i have used quite a few companies and wouldn't trust most with my child - so if you wanted child care from agency do your research). As far as housing budget is low for west bay, villas in west bay are usually 25,000+ per month. You can look at the pearl (apartments in that price range)...

depends what your budget is, but nicest compounds/best upkeep are Al fardans gardens (there are a few in al waab area), y village, and i heard green village is good. Also there are new ones in Al waab city, but not sure if open yet!.. We used Nelson Park property who were great!

I have been to several dermatologists (including all the top ones, i.e.: Hassan Abdullah, etc...) in Doha and NONE have experience in melanoma let alone a simple mole mapping. There was a doctor at Al Alhi but obviously she left the country. Best to be done in your home country when you go for vacation. If anyone out there finds someone with experience please do let me know!!

As long as she is on your visa it's fine she can travel with you to any GCC country as long as she is with you. I had no issue traveling with only nanny and kids...

The GNC is not like in the US!! Mostly what you find there are for working out (protein shakes, etc...). If you are looking for vitamins your best bet is IHERB.com they deliver to your door in qatar...or what i do sometimes is bring with me in my suitcase when i go home for the summer!

Glad to hear fairy dust that they caught it early...I too had malignant melanoma and they caught it at early stage...but it is worrisome none the less, and you have to be vigilant to constantly check for anything new or different! I also see dr rizk at the gulf cancer center in Abu dhabi that I highly recommend, as they have me to blood tests every six months as an extra precaution. A note to everyone that my mole actually bothered me over a year before I had it removed as three different doctors told me it's nothing and not to worry about it...it was because I was pregnant/ just had a baby...finally pregnant with my second child I went again to different doctor and I insisted on it being removed...and of course it came back malignant melanoma....had I not insisted the prognosis would not have been good as as soon as it gets into your blood or lymph nodes things get worse quicker...so if a mole bothers you, just have it removed, don't take the chance!!! To MG if you do a quick google, you will see that malignant melanoma is indeed a very agressive cancer and if not caught in the early stage (stage 1a or less) your prognosis for recurence and survival are quite low...so indeed if not caught early malignant melanoma is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. What you wrote about basil cell carcinoma is a different type of less agressive cancer that the OP was not talking about.

Personally I would never put my 3 year old under GA...there is much debate about fixing baby teeth, have a quick google. Also is she complaining about her teeth? There is ways of naturally fixing teeth also (I would personally try that option since they are baby teeth)...there is a facebook group for going the natural route...good luck!

We did it last year...wasn't too difficult, and no she does not need work visa (only if you were going to be there 6 months +... Can only be done in Abu dhabi embassy, there are a few forms you have to fill out...make sure to go with nanny and sponsor (if it is your husband), in case you are missing any forms you can fill them out on the spot. Hand it in, pay, you get a response within few weeks. As long as she has been under your sponsorship for over one year, then you will have no problem. For documents needed look http://www.uae.gc.ca/ .... However is you live in Abu dhabi might be easier to just go pick up the documents (as we were missing one - website not so clear), and then you don't all have to go back to drop them off!!

I am in early pregnancy with two other kids in elementary grades...does anyone know if I want to give birth in my home country, would they allow me to pull out my two other kids one month early? I don't have many options other then giving birth and then being stuck here for the summer which just isn't ideal....anyone done it before?

Well it depends on what kind of health issues...there are not really any great doctors, and personally I don't find the doctors at future great...so if it is a serious health issue, then would suggest maybe one of the hospitals ... If you want more specialized doctor then need to know what kind of doc you are looking for!
