so now we know.... Nah, if I was going to cheat I'd go five star baby. Hey daza, Thank for your wise words, I wasn't guilty, nor I was driving. May had some typos. Things are better after I broke some plates. (Lolz) Its not a good idea to have alcohol empty stomach. And I am not serious. ?

Hi I'm hoping someone might have some experience and can give me some advice. We've employed a new maid and she went 2 days ago for the medical fitness test. I ordered the 48 hours results and was hoping to take her to immigration first thing tomorrow morning to do the visa. Problem is I haven't received an SMS or results from the courier. I called DHA and they said I had to speak to the medical centre, I called them about 20 times today and they never answered their phone and now they're closed. Do I wait until I get word, or do I chance it and just turn up immigration. My husband has had to block time out of work to do this and wants to avoid multiple trips if it can be helped. Is it likely that the results have been sent through and they haven't informed us? Or is it safer to wait? You would have got a token of courier, most probably zajel. Contact them. May be some issue with address. You can also go and pick up from courier office. Its never late. So better to track with the tocken which you got from medical center.

I have no problem paying Satwa prices, it's the cr*p they produce that I have a problem with. Just had an expensive mistake at Coventry Tailors, a simple sleeveless top cost AED150 to make and the workmanship was utter rubbish. This is why they charge you more, because any Asian won't make an issue out of such issue. "White" people do expect high quality and if don't get they keep whining about it. That's not the case with Indians or Philpinos. By the way I get what OP meant but did she ever though of such things while receiving salary? Why do White skinned people get higher salaries than Indians/Pakistanis/Sri lankans? Why don't you feel same about it that time,? We face such racism everyday, everyone knows and we are living with it. You should not have pain in paying a guy few bucks more than someone else. You probably are earning 100% more than him. He didn't complain, you should not too. P:s. No hard feelings but I feel it redicilous when we have no heart to let people take a tiny advantage of you. I happily, knowingly don't bargain for such items. If someone is making a little living out of me , let them. God will give you more.

So school fees have increased, rents are increased, local sponsors are charging more, shop attendants or helper's salaries will need increase, prices or materials are raised and only SATWA shop keepers are to be blamed that they are charging high? Did you notice subway has increased 2-3 dhs every item on their Menu? All the food outlets have increased prices so are groceries going higher and higher. In my opinion its mean to blame poor shop keepers for this. Its just survival of the fittest.

I actually asked her. its same korean salon as Asti is telling. My co worker paid a fortune to get it done. I wanted to check if I can get anything cheaper. 1500 AED for perms is not what I would like to spend. no matter how much I like it. but thanks ladies for your time. edited by lilly111 on 05/03/2014

I am looking to read reviews about digital perm. Anyone did that? Someone in my office just did it and it looks amazing. Her hair looks like she has done professional blow dry with soft curl. And that's only after wash and quick dry. Anyone tried and can recommend from where I can Get it done and how much it would cost? TIA

I don't think treating your hair with any chemicals is good in the long run. I have straightened my hair thrice before deciding to stop it once and for all last year. Thanks to pregnancy for helping me refrain from doing it again. Now I have my natural and definitely much healthier hair. Once you chemical treat your hair you are more likely to end up doing it again and again because when your hair grows you wouldn't love it looking that way-half treated and half real hair and it being a shortcut to looking tidy and stylish. Initially you will be amazed with your new look but in a while you might get split ends and hair fall-may not be true for all. I Am much happier now that I have my natural hair back. edited by mssassy on 29/10/2013 I have always been happy about my hair treatments. Your hair should not be over processed. Hair dresser & products should be good. Than off course home care. I am still loving my hair...straight & sleek without worrying to blow dry it. edited by lilly111 on 07/11/2013

Rosy24 check dubizzle.com for used furniture. There are loads of expats leaving country and selling their furniture in good condition at reasonable price. But if You are looking for brand new Ikea is only affordable option.

Hope it works faster. ITs such a shame, big salons do not take precautions to prevent such damage. They charge a fortune for this mess :-S I have lost my faith in all fancy salons. :-S

I have been straightening my hair for years and never had any issues. Last December I had Keratin done and 2 weeks later my hair started falling out. I had an almost bald patch on the side of my head. My hair is a mess. I am now taking biotin tablets to help my hair grow, but because a large percentage of my hair fell out I now have wisps everywhere if I want to tie up my hair. Basically I can't wear my hair up anymore in public as it just looks ridiculous. On both sides if I run my fingers through my hair, you can feel that half of it is missing. The salon just fobbed me off and said it was down to stress! On one side my hair has never grown back, so I have a few mm of hair near my crown and have to pull hair across to cover it up. My hair is now thin and you can see my scalp in loads of places. It feels like a dried up mess and I now have hair like an 80 year old woman. Anyone have any tips on how to help my hair recover? edited by Niggly on 29/10/2013 Hi Niggy, Sad to hear about your exp. I was really afraid to go for any such process but the hair dresser I went to was good enough and made me comfortable. In Your situation I guess best option is to check with a dermatologist. They can see what damage is done & how it is treated. BUT go to a good one who is not after money. Or You can at least take a consultation from some good hair dresser. They might help.

I think my budget is around 300 Dhs. Is this reasonable or too low? DD's cheapest abaya was Dh8,000 which makes me think that yours is a low budget. She always buys from Hanayen. 8k? Hope that was a typo :-) I also hope so Ladie$, ladie$... You forget there are people who live in a different world of their own. And where is that world :-S

Will the police contact my company first before making their report? You dont need to worry about it. No one can stop issued cheque. Police do, only in certain cases where fraud or cheque book stolen is reported. If check is "To Payee a/c" It might takes 2-6 days in some cases. In Your case customer cant do anything. edited by lilly111 on 03/10/2013

The water is desalinated, has many chemicals (otherwise would not be safe for consumption) so it is best to use a shower filter (I use Blu). You will still experience hair loss but a lot less and your scalp may not be so itchy. Thats what probably I need to do. thanks for pointing this thing. Also use decent shampoos not shop bought ones. I know they are more expensive but believe me they help :-) Thanks Sarah I am already using best shampoo. hope filter would help I have blond/fine hair. It is usual to have hairfall as we get older. Now bald patches are a problem @ Sarah [i'>[u'>[i'>[b'>" It is usual to have hairfall as we get older"[/b'>[/i'>[/u'>[/i'> this could star WW3, I m just 27 & very concious about age plzzzzzzzz :-/ I am 41, it is nothing but a number! I have very curly & thick hair. I used to love my hair but after I came here & started having so many issues. Its becoming a trouble to manage my hair. Specially in morning before going to work. I had never done anything to my hair before except hair cuts. ( no color, high lights etc) SO can You ladies suggest me easiest way. Any permanent blow dry type things? I read alot of women going for Brazilian blow out or keratin straightening. Which one would be recommended for Asian thick curly & long hair???

I dont think anyone in Dubai has a healthy scalp. If your not suffering with excessive hair loss you will probably get chronic dandruff. Its the water here. I just dont know what is in it that makes peoples scalps react that way. Cant be good... Slight exaggeration, if that were the case the population of Dubai would be bald! I've never had any issues and lived here for years in different areas. Excessive blow drying, bleaching, colouring and inadequate diet is far more likely the cause. I never do blow dry, bleaching, coloring & my diet is super healthy. Noy even stress, I am leading Allhamdulilah happy life. Then I dont know any reason why would I have hair fall? except my change of region.

I dont think You should buy Abaaya online. We need to check stitching, fabric & size before buying. There is market for local women in Hamriya Center which is Deira & also loads of shops in Satwa area. I bought some Abaaya for my MIL from Satwa. Prices varies from 100-3000 AED depending on style, shop & fabric. I bought a decent one for 200 AED. You can always bargain with them and it can save You a lot. At some shops from where local women buy they had beautiful collection but was way expensive starting from 550 AED and above :-/

En vogue is a big NO NO. They are rude...massage is nothing more than someone putting a little oil on your body and spreading it all over with a little hand pressure and nothing more. Facial is worst than this. And if in any case You are 10 mins late they will deduct this time from your massage duration. Such a pathetic salon.
