Hi Amy, would you be interested in trying out Pilates? Its a great way to get started with exercise, to become more body aware (we call it mindful movement) and then whatever you choose to do exercise-wise the Pilates Method will always be the basis upon which you will draw from to reduce risk of injury, improve longterm health, feel better, fitter, less stressed and so on. I would also recommend one to one sessions first to ensure you get the most out of it.

Hi Sadaf Just a thought - divalicious is a private shopping event for women that I had investigated myself recently - could b a great market test and springboard for u . They're on Facebook I'll be checking it out in mid October as a visitor, there's an event at ritz Carlton. Not sure if JBR or DIFC at the top of my head!

thanks DC for the tips - esp on shipping, although looking at some of the apt sizes, some of our furniture appears to be suitable for the more spacious Dubai apartment living (!) so may be getting busy on Dubizzle methinks. Glad to hear that there isn't any picking on for the half Chinese kiddies, and still a good multicultural mix - there is a small chance he may have to go to a local school (as international school fees extortionate) but that's a few years in the future and depends if we become residents etc I guess. Hope to meet lots of Uncles and Aunties hehe. Well fingers crossed ....here's hoping hubby can negotiate a decent enough deal for a 'comparable/ comfortable' standard of living then the rest will be an adventure ahead! Curry laksa and chicken rice, Im dreaming of it now!

ahhh thanks dogcatcher, Genkigirl and Aineb - for your very insightful postings! I think I will settle (forgot to mention my family originally from malaysia but Im british born chinese origin, so theres some elements which will b familiar - and I am so looking forward to the FOOD!) . Ive been a few times on hols but to live there will be different than being in holiday mode im sure! Took me a long time to settle in Dubai funnily enough! So am sure once I get into the flow I'll be just fine and there are many things to look forward to. Dogcatcher: The very robotic system i can imagine - "Cannot, lah" being the equivalent of Little Britain's "Computer says noooo..." and the 'police state' culture being in some ways quite the opposite of Dubai (no police fine for letting your kids hang out the sunroof, etc!!) Being Chinese of ethnic origin, my Singlish/ Chinese isnt great unfortunately so I do fear I will get the "tuts" and "shame on you" "Ang mo!" comments haha! well at least until i can brush up. My son is half chinese, so i hope he doesnt get a hard time for it. I would be pleased if he can speak mandarin though, which would be a bonus of being in Singapore Genkigirl - you mentioned Keppel Bay very small inside, just wondering if you mean the apartment sizes or a particular apartment block (Carribean? Reflections?) or the actual area? If we do move, i'm wondering if its more cost effective shipping our stuff (havent got masses of stuff) or sell everything that we can. thanks again!

Hi there! Just a little thing about Bali - as I went to both Sing/ Bali last May with my 18 month old at the time. Keep the little one away from all animals as there are a number of rabies cases on the island - if for example you visit the monkey temple in ubud, the monkeys are incredibly naughty and will grab for absolutely anything even deep inside your pockets and can be quite aggressive. Not saying it to spoil your vacation as they are both wonderful places to go on hols, but better to be safe! Enjoy!

Theres a strong chance our family may be moving to Singapore after 5 wonderful years in Dubai (which if we go, I will miss!!!) . It's my husbands job opportunity that's drawing us out there. We have a 2 year old son. Wondered if anyone out there lived in Singapore recently, as a family and could give us any pointers on moving (relocation costs for example), how it compares to living in Dubai etc - or if anyone else out there is moving to Singapore soon? I know that accomodation is shockingly expensive, pretty much over double compared to here for a 3 bedroom apartment. International School fees - more expensive than Dubai! We're negotiating some kind of allowance for these into the contract if we can....inshallah! Location - Tanjong Rhu on East coast and Keppel Bay both look the most promising locations to live. Holland Village - maybe bit far (relatively) for husbands office near Bugis MRT. Be keen to hear if there's anyone who can share their recent experiences or are also relocating/ hoping to relocate there soon. thanks!

hi there, there is also some in the JBR spot, possibly reachable across the bridge in cooler months - Jebel Ali in Bahar (might be full this year tho) and a new 'Family and Friends' - in the Al Fattan building (the lowrise block behind the Al Fattan Towers)
