The best thing you can do is to speak with a qualified financial advisor. Someone who will undertake an assessment of your goals, both short and long term, your risk profile and also someone who is independent and not fee grabbing. You would be best to do your research on them and see if there are any negative or positive feedback, there are a few in Dubai who are "dodgy". Also someone from your home country will be able to explain the advantages and disadvantages of the type of investment you are looking at and also the asset classes that are suitable for your risk tolerance and if protecting your capital is a priority as well as tax implications. So rather than doing research on investments, start with researching a qualified professional who will help you achieve your goals.

Love it and Sopranos, watching House of Cards at the moment as well and Under the Dome. Is Under the Dome the Stephen King one? Yes, its the Stephen King one, I havent read the book but so far so good. Just hope it doesnt end up like Revenge and becomes a soap opera.

Also heard on the radio that a family in Sharjah are all in hospital after making a meal from their local supermarket and there are concerns about the quality and safety of the food they sold. Immediately made me think of this thread and whether it was the same supermarket or chain.

As much as I understand your situation and appreciate that you need your space as well it reminded me of my father-in-law. DH and I have never had children and my fil became very close to my nephew, from the moment he was born he would visit every day, drove my sister in law nuts. When my FIL passed away my nephew was 4 and had the most wonderful memories of him and now he is 13 and is still misses him terribly. SIL managed to tactfully speak with FIL and they collectively came to a compromise on what worked for them both, in the end he would take the baby out for a walk so they had one on one time and she had a little break, the more comfortable SIL became with the arrangement it ended up that they would spend more alone time together. I have some wonderful photo's of them hand in hand in the park. Ended up being a very special relationship and my nephew called my FIL is 3rd grandpa. Maybe you could gently suggest some ground rules or times that are more convenient for you.

Yes they can and it happened to me when I left my last job. The company advised the bank that it was my final settlement and they froze everything. Despite owing less than 1000 on the credit card they froze all my savings and my gratuity, so I couldn't even pay off the credit card. After speaking with the bank, many times over, we came to an agreement to freeze the credit card only and enough to cover the limit on my card so I could access my account. Which is an oxymoron because the card was frozen so I couldn't use it anyway! I was in a complete flap because my rent cheque was also due, once I had a new visa and a letter from my employer all was good. On the other hand when DH finished at his last job there was no notification by his employer to the bank that it was his final settlement so he didn't have his account frozen, but just in case he took out enough cash to cover living and other expenses so he wasn't caught out.

Just reading all this, and my interpretation is yes you have to complete the by descent form and the passport form separately but you will have to contact the NZ consulate in any event. Might be easier to speak with them and get everything sorted.

Cant help with citizenship by descent but the passport application is really easy and quick turn around. Just download the form online, complete it and send off. The only thing is that you need to have another NZ citizen sign to knowing the kiwi!!!

Actually massimo dutti staff are just as bad, one guy there was so rude to me I lost my patience and said he should drop the attitude and that if he hated his job so much maybe he should seek employment somewhere else. He told me to "f off"! I told his manager and then reported him to the parent company.

When we left oz for here, this was a major warning given to us by our accountant. He said that the ATO does look at medicare records for non residents and we were warned NEVER to use our medicare card and that it was better to ring them and have it cancelled. Apparently Dubai was/is on the ATO's "blacklist" for Aussie Expats, he frightened us enough, whether he was being a drama queen I dont know!

Pineapple, thanks for the feedback you have me wondering now. Where did you find the info about thinning skin and this region? I did a google search and couldnt find anything. Sue R - did the peel make much difference to your hands, I have tried laser on my hands but it made little difference and no matter how much handcream or sunscreen I apply I still have hands that I am very conscious of. Also its DLC. edited by littleone on 19/06/2013

The shop at Dxb Mall closed ages ago and there was also the store at Marina Mall but they had a very small selection. I order online from Oz, its much cheaper and you can get it shipped here very quickly. Have a look at shopstyle.com they have quite a few retailers that stock it, plus you can set up an alert for when a product goes on sale.

Here is the link [url=http://sleepinrollers.com/'>link[/url'>. I got mine at Sisters as well and thought that I would sleep blissfully at night and wake up in the morning looking like a glamazon! (hopefully 10kgs lighter as well, it doesnt hurt to dream) But alas, I woke up looking like i had been in a cat fight and was duly feral after an extremely restless night and DH nearly had his head bitten off at the ankles. Even the fur baby had a look of disgust at my sore and sorry state. Whilst my hair looked fab and volumous (which is exactly like my backside), I was exhausted! On the flip side, there is one that comes with a hairdryer thingie to "set" the do and I use this now, better as DH gets to giggle (yes like a girl) as I look like a, and i quote him, "my granny on a bad day"!

I have used them and will NEVER take any of my leather goods there again. I had a handbag cleaned inside and I could have done just a good a job myself if I had the time. So this service might be ok for you. I also askef for a pair of shoes to be cleaned, which they "restored" They were natural leather snakeskin and they painted them. I hadnt asked for it to be painted, was never explained that this is what they would do particularly as I wouldnt have had it done. When I explained to them I was unhappy that they had painted my shoes and never told me this is the process I got a shrug of the shoulders. Shoes were ruined and went straight in the bin and I also had the pleasure of paying for the stuff up. I will never use the service again, I would rather check with the manufacturer of my expensive leather goods if they offer this type of service. I wont go back.

Why as a tenant do you think you would be entitled to see the title deeds? You need a copy of the landlord's passport and title deeds to register the rental contract with Ejari. You need a registered rental contract in order to obtain your residence, sponsor a maid, obtain your Emirates ID, etc. Aaah I see, my husbands company is in the process of arranging all that for us now that's why I was unaware. Things really are done differently here... Incredibly different and its not until you get a landlord/agent who isnt fair, nasty and down right mean that you can fully appreciate why there are so many posts on the issues associated with leasing. And dealing with agents is just dreadful, I'm not allowed to talk with ours anymore because we continually fight each other. But then again she is a nasty b!

Yes I would. We just rented out our house back in Australia and the managing agent confirmed the tenants annual income, it is common practice. It definitely gives the landlord piece of mind when leasing out their properties. edited by Thunderbird on 30/05/2013 I was a rental agent back in Oz and the confirmation of the annual rent was what the tenant put on the form, the privacy laws did not allow us to actually check unless there was a waiver from the tenant, again just like here its all how good your agent is. The difference in Oz and here is there are incredibly strict laws for real estate agents, a code of ethics and regulated by the corporations act. Maybe its time for a review of the current laws here that protect the rights of both parties to the agreement.

He technically hasnt settled on the property, how can he technically be able to arrange inspections with other prospective buyers? I know I know it doesnt work like this in the region but maybe tell him you will allow his agent to bring through other purchasers when he provides the title deed. Sorry this bloke is a bully and if it was me in your position I would push back and be completely nasty, which is why DH usually deals with our lovely landlord.

Zabeel Saray, we did it recently and it was a great mix of those partaking and those not and was very civilised but with a good ambience. Whilst there wasnt an expansive selection of food the quality was excellent, absolutely nothing was sub par and there was plenty of food. The cheeses were amazing and 3 weeks later DH is still talking about the beef cheeks! There was also a two piece band. Have also been to the Sheraton at MOE and that was good, very casual and had a chocolate room, yes a room just for chocolate.

Its a dredging boat. There was a proposal approved by the government to build an island out of JBR, I would assume that this is what it is. There was a load of publicity about it. If it was diesel with the amount of power the pump has from the boat you would have smelt it.

No, unfortunately miscarried at 12 weeks, but had it until the miscarriage. The car sickness is resolved if I drive, or can clearly see the road. I get seasick as well and my parents were avid sailors so I pretty much ruined their party! The dizziness now, well thats really got me stuck because its only got worse since the tremors.

Yes, when my usual hairdresser from sisters beauty lounge was away on holidays for a top up! Over the course of a year i went from brunette to blond ombré, it wasn't a once off thing because my hair threw red/orange. I have stuck with Sisters as I can't afford Salon Inks prices and I thought that sisters did the same job, if not better. Hi littleone, do you mind if I ask how much the process cost at each salon? It seems to be one of those treatments for which a standard price isn't given it more depends on the individual. Would love an estimate though! Who do you see at sisters and is it the one in DXB mall? Sorry for all the questions! :) I see Calena at Sisters DXB Mall, the cost varies I would go and get a quote from each, as I have a mass of hair and it has "natural grey highlights" so I have to have my roots done as well. So I wouldnt want to scare you with the price I pay if you have completely different hair!
