Try Loving My Bag at Jumeriah Palm strip mall on Jumeriah beach road. I have just dropped off two pairs of shoes in varying states of disrepair and their servic is excellent. They have a fb page. They also have preloaded bags that have been refurbished and they look brand new. https://www.facebook.com/LovinMyBagsMiddleEast?ref=ts

Unfortunately I need the peppermint oil to breathe at night (ie: I dont like to snore and have this whole dainty image of myself!!!) and I keep the air purifier on the other side of the room. I have pretty much had the purifier on the whole of summer and I turn off the oils during the day. The model we have also elimates odours and when I switch on the oil swishy thing it doesnt seem to detect it, I dont know why. But if I use the purifier following cooking steak, which I am notorious for burning, it detects the odour immediately. However, if I use an oil burner then I turn off the purifier because as you say it becomes pointless.

Yes, I bought a dress a couple of months ago. The service was good and quick, the quality was what I expected based on the amount I paid for the dress.

"Also, pasta being hand made in view of clients without the use of gloves. Yuk." Sorry, I should have clarified, he was wearing gloves and a hair net and was very careful on how he was handling the pasta and the equipment. I thought the hygene standards were good. The kitchen areas are open so you can see most of what was going on. I find the food quite good but like most restaurants with a "name" they are a little expensive but I guess the owners have to pay the licensing fees! The wine list seems to be a bit better as there was a fairly good choice and the staff were attentive, although it was a weekday and it was quiet.

There are quite a few on the market and ones that have the humidifier option. Do a google search and see what takes your fancy. I purchased the LG as it has a HEPA filter which is washable, so no need to buy replacement filters. I found that it helped with my allergies immensely, particularly when there was a dust storm which is when I suffer the most. I use this in conjunction with the water swishy thing that you add essentially oils, sorry I cant remember its name!

I had lunch there the other day and sat watching them make the pasta, all different sorts, I was mesmerised! I dont find it to be a fine dining experience but its lovely to be in a place that feels more like the restaurants at home.

I hope its not the water fountains making your LO sick, I cannot believe you tasted it! A couple of years ago there were issues at the shoreline pools because they werent being maintained properly, heaps of kids with gastro and ear infections. I remember reading it on EW, it had to do with the maintenance charges and the transition to the owners associations etc, so it maybe worthwhile testing the pool water. I know a couple of the maids that take their "charges" to the play area I will check if they have had any issues.

The track was supposed to be finished in March, its still not "officially" opened and they are still working on the landscape but you can use it. Many people do. We think it will be officially finished by next summer! We also only ever see the maids with kids at the water area's too, usually not watching the kids. The other fountains in between the buildings are a bit feral, very green and nasty looking. Saw a man the other day washing his face with the water from it, nearly heaved! eewwww...its green and nasty. At least the fountains are circulating the water but I always wonder if the water quality is good. I dont have kids but I wouldnt even let my dog play in that water.

Just be careful which version you buy, the US version is available here and there is support from various retailers but if you buy the Australian version there is absolutely no support and you have to call Australia for support and queries with updates. Which ever option you go for, check the support that is available.

As you walk in there is a counter just before check in, it has immigration (i think) on the signage. To the left side on the same counter is the e gate office. I did mine last time I left and took about 10 minutes, maximum. Its very easy to find, ask any of the staff floating around and they will send you in the right direction.

. Surely, the shipping it over won't cost that much, specially if you have SnS account with Aramex. But you might get charged with tax/duty on the way in through customs, so could negate the saving.

It happens every year and its a result of a combination of poor design of water circulation water and the water temperature. At the end of the fronds at the canal cove ends there are waterfalls, but they turned them off because they were too noisy. It will go as the water temp drops, its not just confined to the palm, some of the beaches also have the problem.

Coffee Mate, keep on the case with them. I actually ended up speaking with both Aramex and S&S as they are in different departments, as well as logging a complaint via my account on the website. Keep at it, you just never know it may show up. Apparently the NY office is very very busy and they can be slow at allocating and sending stuff sometimes. I had so many versions of what had happened to my goods, it wasnt until I spoke with a young lady at the S&S office (not Aramex) that things got sorted.

I have had an order from esty just disappear and never heard any response from the seller, but another seller to my China s&s account was received in a week. I would definitely check with s&s here as NY "lost" one of my parcels, which they refunded me the cost of my purchase. So after re-ordering, and receiving my new goods, 2 months later Aramex guy turned up with my original order! ETA: ring and lodge a complaint on line. It took me about 6 goes to finally get the refund. edited by littleone on 03/09/2012

CP, sorry to butt in on your thread but if I remember correctly your new puppy is coming from the UK. Before we moved to Dubai from Oz we were also concerned about living in an apartment with our pup so we got Barkbusters in to train him, we only had time for one session and we haven't had any problems with him since we have been here. Maybe you could do the training back in the UK as opposed to here, if you have the time. I highly recommend them, they actually train you and not the dog! Our boy is home most of the day and use to bark incessantly now he doesn't even when the door bell rings, we just have to keep up the reinforcement of our training and was the best money we ever spent. It's an option for you anyway. Here is the link to their website [url=http://www.barkbusters.co.uk/'>link[/url'> edited by littleone on 01/09/2012

We stayed in the beach villas, single story over looking the lagoon. We were looking at the water villas but are glad we didn't pay the extra for these as they weren't very private. We booked through an agency but you can book direct with the hotel if you email them they are really helpful. I cant remember how much we paid but as we were there for over 2 weeks the all inclusive package was better for us. Plus we hate a drink! So the all inclusive gave us heaps of options. As Yorky said, we also left the hotel at 7am and the staff arranged everything it was a very easy transfer. Friends have stayed at Lilly Beach who recommend it highly.

We recently stayed at Holiday Inn Kandooma, 45 minutes by boat was a fab holiday we even extended. We also took the all inclusive package which we really felt was excellent value for money. My Husband surfs so the resort choice was a great compromise for us as we travelled with another couple. The resort is a family destination as well but for couples it's just as good, I would go back in a heart beat. With flights we took the 10am emirates home as there isn't a great deal to do on Male and it gave us time to get organized when we came back to get ready for work. I recommend you check out trip advisor for reviews on whichever resort you choose. Hope you have a fantastic trip, it's a beautiful part of the world.

Dumbblonde, I am just reading on the the link that someone else posted and it says that "notify each other of such amendments at lease ninety day prior to the expiry date unless the tenancy contract provides otherwise". (article 13 & 14). I would be inclined to take the matter to the rent committee and read up on info and your contract. eta: fixed up my horrid spelling edited by littleone on 30/08/2012

We love our tempur bed and when we leave Dubai its coming with us (only because it cost a packet). You do get use to the sinking/dead bed feeling and as I have the bedroom AC on arctic all year round I dont find the warmness of the bed an issue.

There are play areas across the road in between Golden Mile and Shoreline. When the weather is cooler there are loads of kids playing there. Nakheel are currently building a 2klm running track which has some kids playgrounds in the middle, but of course its about 2 months behind schedule. Otherwise there are play and grassed areas in between the shoreline buildings. Waitrose will not be finished anytime soon, the space where its supposed to be is still a shell, work hasnt started at all, so dont bank on it. The nearest grocery stores are in the Marina or on Al Wasl Road.

Unfortunately the Waitrose fitout hasnt started, its in our building. Initially the fitout was to commence in March 2009. The whole podium level at Golden Mile (all buildings) where the shops are to be loacted is under dispute between the master developer and the JV partner. The hotel at Fairmont looks like its close to being finished, it would be great to know when its opening as its only a short stroll from our place!

Turn off the hot water system in the house, then use the hot for cold and the cold for hot. We had to do this during the summer in our villa, couldnt figure it out but the water tanks heat up and the cold water runs hot hot hot.

I have been going to sisters at Dubai mall for the last 18 months to have my hair ombré. My initial stylist has left but I now see Calena and she does a great job, my hair is very dark brunette bad throws red, I have battled with this along with the bleaching drying your hair but is managed with regularly going back to have a ash shade of toner applied. I have also had this done at Salon Ink.

Its a shame that the Olympics are losing the true spirit, but I guess its a sign of the times and that countries want to be seen as all powerful and its not about who is the better sportsperson on the day. The media...well...what can you say, they have to increase circulation, sell papers, sell ads and make money and if sensationalising winners, losers and cheats gets the bottom line looking healthier then they will do it. China will always be an easy target because they dont conform to the "norm", your right SoL why single out only one country. Even my home country has been tainted by drug scandal and he is competing at these Olympics but I wont support him and if he wins a medal he still has the shame of being labelled a drug cheat over his head regardless of whether he is clean. Vicious circle I think. But I am enjoying the coverage of the games here this year, better than 4 years ago.

Unfortunately China and many other countries have abused the rules and have been caught out as drug cheats before. Unfortunately they will always be labelled as drug cheats because they failed the tests. There are ways to get around performance enhancing drug use prior to a competition and some athletes will definitely flout these rules in order to enhance their performance and results whilst other competitors play by the rules. When they threw the badminton games, they deserved to be disqualified, they were loosing so that they could play in a lower grade and get to the finals. I dont believe there is an anti-chinese sentiment to the games, the comments are being made against people who exploit the rules to win, they dont play fair.
