We had a company come in and tell me that they had to replace our whole AC vent system as it was "bad fitted maaam", and rattled like a freight train. Quote to replace - at least 10K, got another company around, the guy got out his screwdriver and screwed everything into place put a peice of rubber where the grate went and voila, no train. Cost was my tip. I would recommend that you get another company yourself to come around and give you an opinion.

Yes, my boy went this morning! Shaun is a fantastic groomer, personally we prefer the way he grooms compared to other groomers as our maltese boy always comes back looking great. We initially used the mobile service then switched to another groomers but have gone back to Shaun. We are probably more loyal to the specific groomer rather than the company, however Shampooch are always professional and clean.

Why dont you also think about getting wedges as opposed to stilleto's. They are much more stable and often more comfortable.

Our lease expires every December and we have found it really difficult to find anything. We have decided that we will take something in either late October or November just so we have a bigger pool of properties to choose from if the landlord doesnt exhoribitantly increase our rent. We have put it down to the fact that most tenancies expire around the big school holidays and people are pretty well set in around the December time (ie: its the middle of their lease). Its an absolute pain, but it is exactly the opposite to Oz. Most vacancies occur at home around December/January, the end of the school term, whilst here its July/August. We have also found that the prices are slightly higher as well around December. My recommendation is try and get something earlier, stay at home for Xmas or rent a short term for a month or so then you might have a bigger pool to choose from.

Contact the facility manager of the building. There should be a requirement for "quiet enjoyment" for residents, regardless of the lenght of the leases. Each resident had the right to enjoy their surroundings and you are well within your right to lodge a complaint. We did with our facility manager after we had kids playing (and screaming) in the foyer who acted immediately and have been very prompt in rectifying any issues. If you have no luck there write a formal letter to the Interim Owners Association and lodge a copy with RERA. I guess it depends on how much you want to stay and whether you're up for the fight.

As there is no chilled water service to the villa, you run an airconditioning unit which is powered by electricity and therefore billed by DEWA.

I think you also have to consider the integrity of the tyre and its compound. I recently had to change my tyres and our service centre said that we must check the dates of the tyres when we purchased as if they expired or were more than 2 years old they wouldnt pass registration. I got a price for nearly 2K cheaper than he was quoting but on further inspection they were to expire in a year meaning I would be up for the 7k again. The compound was completely different and would not survive the extreme heat here, we ended up getting our service guy to resolve.Honestly I wouldnt risk my own safety or that of others just to get a few more miles out of a tyre. On another note, my car failed registration for a sticker of the southern cross on the back window and clear tinting on the front window.

Not worried either, I find it rather reassuring seeing the fighter jet flying over each evening and now that the US mine sweepers are making their way in to the Strait feeling very secure! Plus, Plan B is in place.

We have been in both situations, back at home I was the main breadwinner for the majority of our marriage. We moved here and DH became the BDE (big dollar earner), now it is switching back as he is about to finish up his contract and start looking for work. We have always worked it together, I would pick up the slack when I wasnt working or was able to be at home on time and the other way around and we dont have children which makes it slightly different to your situation. Being in a job that we loved makes a huge difference to how you deal with it as well as we didnt resent each other when the other was working longer hours. I really feel for you having to go back to work so early after having your bub, would your company be prepared to let you have a little longer maternity leave?

Personally, yes I think you do, but it will depend on your space. In the villa we had plenty of room for a dryer and a washing machine, but once we moved to our apartment we didnt, so we now have a washer dryer. What I wouldnt do for a proper clothes line...or a much bigger clothes airer.

With regards to switching off the A/C it just gets better by the minute, we believe our LL has paid but even still I wouldnt trust Nakheel at all. Anyways owners meeting tonight so lets see what happens - not holding my breath ! They did exactly the same thing at Golden Mile, we had AC off first, followed by the water and more recently access to the car parks. In the AC and water cases they were only off for a few hours, but I would suggest that you shut your curtains and crank up the AC in each room and shut the doors. We did this and it made the rooms cool and bearable as it started to heat, keep the fan going whilst the Palm District Cooling is off and it should circulate the air. Just get the apartment as cold as you can.

Remember that Aus has a different plug so you will also have to get an adaptor or have the plugs changed. Plus you have to pay for the shipping when you move. I would look on line and see how much they are in Australia and then compare with here. I bought my Kitchen Aid here because it worked out cheaper (only slightly), blender you can get anywhere and cheap or expensive. The kids outdoor play stuff you could get at a garage sale or in the trading post.

Thanks Ladies, no the package is only 2lbs and I have been in touch with Aramex, via the online query, which I got a prompt reply that they would be in touch and then I checked and they have closed the query. Which only riles me up even more. Usually they are so quick, usually within 3/4 days. Guess I am going to have to ring.

I think ignorance is a poor excuse..."sorry I didnt know the laws"...umm...did you book the flight...or was it a whim. Honestly how many women do you you see walking around the mall with half their "ask your mother for six pence" hanging out their shorts ...yes I can see what you had for breakfast....and my other faves the greyhound skirts...an inch away from the hare. I'm over it, maybe the malls should just hand our some horrid coloured pashmina for those inappropriately dressed..but I guess they would still stand out. For goodness sakes, its all about respect...where you are visiting and for yourself! Yes, I'm having a whinge...thank you for reading I feel better now! edited by littleone on 12/06/2012

Its was at Building 20 and I think it was the stray because it was loud and not at all bothered by the dog. I will keep an eye out for you just in case he makes the journey back to the Palm and let some of our doggy friends know as well, they live in quite a few different shoreline buildings.

Kathy what building were you in? We walk our dog last thing at night and last night there was a cat meowing but couldnt see it. Although there is a vocal stray which it could have been. We are usually walking between buildings 19 & 20 and near the monorail.

In which shop in Marina Mall are you able to purchase Seafolly? Would love to try them on first before buying online. TIA I dont know the name of the shop but its on the first floor next to MAC, its blue and white, it also stocks Tommy Bahama, which are ridiculously expensive. They dont have a huge range but it will give you a sizing indication. I also love Jets, by Jessika Allen another Aussie designer, Harvey Nicks sometimes stock the brand but not often.

From what I understand the market in Qld is generally quite depressed, so you could get a "do-er upper" for this price, but I guess the old addage is to buy in the best location is key. I would get on to realestate.com.au and look at the market and see what is available but also get some feedback on areas. Obviously the closer to the city the better but this also increases prices. You can look anywhere from the city to the Gold Coast to find Queenslanders.

They are very true to size (Australian). If you are a 12 US, you will be a 14 Aus, 16 UK. So if you dont have the time, stick to your normal size.

I love Seafolly, I have a tankini set that I have had for over 7 years and they have not lost elasticity and still look as good as they day I bought them. I buy on line because they are horribly expensive here and usually manage to get them on sale from an online site, unless they are current season. The Seafolly in the shops here are from Australian 2012 summer which are now on sale.

Not necessarily good news for tenants ours PDC was cut off last month after the landlord "forgot" to pay the capacity charges. This will be another way that the tenants get shafted by unscrupulous landlords.

Moroccan Oil - The Shampoo & Conditioner and the hydrating mask. I add a little of the oil to the conditioning/mask stage. I dont have curly hair, but dry over treated hair and this has been the best routine so far. I staighten my hair as well and havent had to deal with the humidity frizz and my hair is shiny. I order everything on line at Amazon.

Yes, can definitely recommend them, they are very professional and patient. I did the beginner and the intermediate classes and havent used my automatic setting since attending. I also did one of their tours, where you catch a bus with everyone and wander around taking shots, had a fantastic day down the creek and got some great shots of Dubai, I would definitely recommend their courses.

Monnie, you could try the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ), they regulate real estate agents and will possibly be able to guide you on the charges. http://www.reiq.com/
