Hi derien, its on Jumeirah Beach Rd right near the big flag. Its directly opposite The One & the big mosque. Its actually quite a nice little centre, easy to park and easy to find. I will post their details on the site when I get home later tonight to make it easy for you. Otherwise you could search facebook for them.

There is a new shop at Palm Strip Mall that does repairs and rejuvenations of handbags, I think its called love my bag. Unfortunately I dont have access to fb at work so I cant look it up, they do some pretty amazing restorations (ie: the do before and after shots). Also do shoes.

I just hope my PT isnt on here....I have approval for a few vino's this weekend not for an all out sugar fest. Blue clinkers, you must be a serious clinker aficinado (?spelling). GM - luckily my scales arent working battery may have died, or been mysteriously removed by the sugar fairies.

I lurve the pink clinkers....Mum just sent me a care package and put in pineapple lumps (kiwi heritage) and minties....woohooo! I can have a sugar fest this weekend. Although I asked DH to hide the violet crumbles as I have no self will, I'm hoping he hid them at our neighbours otherwise I am sniffing out those suckers this weekend.

I lived in Ashmore with my family many many years ago. Its about 20 minutes from everything, although a little older but still good. Its really up to you want from a lifestyle perspective. Ashmore has its good and bad parts, as Basil said Varsity and Robina are good "newer" areas and close to one of the best shopping centres on the Gold Coast. Plus there are some great new schools around that area and about 30 minutes to Surfers Paradise, close to a railway station. For Ashmore you would probably shop at Southport Park where the Woolies is as it has better parking and more shops than Ashmore City, which use to have a Franklins, sorry dont know what is there now. Ashmore is close to All Saints which is a good co-ed private school with a great sporting and academic reputation and its even closer to Aquinos College, but I wouldnt let my children ride to school at either of these schools, you would have to do a school run. If you really like Ashmore have a look at Royal Pines there is a small gated community there on the golf course which is really lovely and modern and green. Stay away from Molendinar if you are looking at Ashmore its very close and sometimes called Ashmore.

Definitely stay away from Nerang....unfortunately what use to be a lovely community has changed for the worse, include Highland Park and Worongary in there too. Also stay away from Southport, unless you are down by Southport Park, otherwise its a little feral. There are some good new schools at Coomera now, but I'm not a northern suburb girl either.

Majoe, We have lived Paradise Point (pensioners point), Southport, in the good and bad parts, Broadbeach Waters and Robina. We were very happy at Broadbeach Waters because it was based on our lifestyle which could play a big part in your decision of where you live. I guess you need to decide on what is important for you from a lifestyle basis. That will definitely help with the recommendations from the Gold Coast girls!

We had a massive increase in our water bill when we were in a villa on the palm. It ended up that the float valve in the water tank was broken, which meant that when the water reached a certain level it didnt cut out. Kept on flowing and our bills were nearly 7k a month and there were 2 of us in the villa. If you have a water tank then get that checked.

I would stay at Peppers Broadbeach over the Moorings, its just too old as is Chidori Court, which is in Main Beach. There is also Circle on Cavill to stay at if your intent on Surfers Paradise, but I would avoid Surfers like the plague and Im a Gold Coast girl, its just too taky now. The Sheraton at Main Beach is a lovely location but that too is in need of a renovation and the only things for the kids to do is to go to Marina Mirage which can be a bit dead or the beach and at that time of year there wouldnt be any surf lifesavers on plus its winter and the water will be cold. That area has quite notorious rips, DH saved a lady there a few years ago. Aria and Waves at Broadbeach are also pretty good location wise, right in the middle of everything great cafe's and you must go to Mario's restaurant its a bit of a Gold Coast institution. You can also fly from Sydney to Gold Coast (coolangatta) and hire a car there. Return flights from Brisbane to Dubai are either at 8.30 at night or 2.00am in the morning, I recommend the 8.30pm as you arrive here at 6ish and its not too taxing on the body. Enjoy your holiday. ETA - Car hire is expensive, around $1000 per week for a Ford Falcon or Holden Commodore (family cars) and it cost us nearly $150 to fill. Brisbane to Gold Coast is half a tank. Oh and there is insurance and e-gate (salik) which is additional to your hire. (think thats it now) edited by littleone on 04/04/2012 edited by littleone on 04/04/2012

Mine is only part time, but the good thing with Howdra is that they do replace if your not happy. I started getting a complex because I'm on number 4 or 5, thought I was a whinger, until I cleaned my shower on the weekend.

I recommend you do a google search and a you tube search on these products and search online reviews, I did prior to buying the product and didnt end up proceeding.. I have tried everything for hyperpigmentation and only laser and a good sunscreen works. However, I use the Obagi Vitamin C eye oil and its awesome. Save the bucks and get the laser. edited by littleone on 02/04/2012

Flowergirl, I swear that I would have written your post, word for word, except ours isnt live in. We are on our 4th maid since September and she came last Thursday for her usual three hours and I had to re do the whole cleaning again. What I am paying for I have no idea. We have had nothing but drama's with this one, but she does what needs to be done. We had the best maid from them two years ago but she went home. Since then its been a disaster. I dont know what Howdra are doing with training and have suggested to them on may occassions that they need consistency with their cleaners and what is expected as a minimum. Obviously we all like things done a certain way so there is room for change. We are seriously considering cancelling our contract with them because its just not worth our while, particularly as I end up doing a proper job of cleaning while I think they are just doing a cosmetic clean.

We were there 2 weeks ago with guest from Oz and it totally blew them away. The food was excellent and to quote DH, more prawns than you can poke a stick at, the view is absolutely amazing and the staff are courteous and attentive. I always had a drink, if not 2, in front of me and its not packed and full of debaucherious p!ssed yobos, although that can be entertaining! Watching the skydivers and looking out over the Palm really makes you realise what an amazing city we live in. I would definitely recommend it, we are actually going again in a few weeks with some more visitors.

There is a shop at DIFC that has antique watches which include all major brands, my DH has been raving about it since he saw it last week. He said the guy who owns the shop is extremely knowledgable and most of the watches come from Germany. DH also said that the prices were reasonable and that the range was "AWESOME". He is to watches like I am to shoes, so it must be a good shop.

Rarely they have Twisties at Milk & Honey on the Palm. Call them and check, the more that ask for them maybe the more they will bring out. DH paid AED 15 for the last pack they had, which was around Australia Day, but oh my they were yummy.

I would recommend that you pre-book your tickets for the Eiffel Tower, it saves anywhere between an hour or two waiting in line and with littleones Im sure that would be a pain. We did a guided tour in the Louvre but didnt spend nearly as much time there as we would have liked it would have been fantastic to have the whole day there but we only had a few hours. Definitely a wander around the latin quarter and a stroll up the champs elysee, even pop into the awesome LV store! Sorry no more tips about your other locations but enjoy the journey.

I used one of the firms in JLT for a BB repair and felt the same way about giving my phone away. They repaired it same day and rang and gave a quote for the repair. Sorry I cant for the life of me remember their name, but the were extremely professional and were referred by the EW ladies. Maybe do a search for phone repairs.

Yes skinmarket is still running, I made an order last month and although there was a little issue, there customer service was excellent, prompt and resolved the matter really quickly. I do prefer eskin as they have a better range and they ship quicker.

I only buy my cleansers, toners and moisturisers on line now and through eskinstore or skinmarket.net. what I cant get at one, I get at the other. I have purchased my skincare range that I use to pay hundreds of dollars for back home from the dermatologist for half the price and my absolute favourite is my clarisonic. I cannot believe the difference. I always buy my makeup at a department store overseas as I find in Dubai that the consultants are a little heavy handed and I end up way way too made up which ends up with DH in fits of laughter!

Invest in a good air purifier Agree, Air Purifier has made a huge difference to my wheezing and allergic conjunctivitis. Dont clean your house, get the maid, or an agency around if you have no maid, you dont want to aggrevate your allergy by swishing up the dust in the air. Set yourself up in a shopping centre while they are there, I find the malls have good air purification and the shopping is a good distraction.

I know the feeling SK, if I'm cooking I have to be in and out of that kitchen in 30 minutes. The only thing I will make that takes longer is Pavlova and thats only because it has to sit in the oven for an hour and a half.
