try taste.com.au it has loads of recipes and they are usually fairly easy. If ever I am stuck I just type in "chicken" and a load of recipes come up. I made some very yummy and easy chicken enchiladas, risotto and a few veges. My other lifesaver is Donna Hay and her Ipad app, now I dont have loads of recipe books lying around, she does a fantastic chili, lemon and prawn pasta dish. Loads of flavour and its all over in 20 minutes max. [url=http://foodgawker.com/post/2011/11/08/130455/'>link[/url'>

kts, i just reread my post and didnt mean for it to sound like a whinge! I will definitely get in touch with the organizers, thanks for the link, and share my thoughts and I believe the event to be positive for everyone including non dog owners. It's a good family event and great outing for the dogs and helps to socialize them with other dogs which helps to kerb the aggressiveness. Its even better when the weather is so nice.

We got the lady vet and she did use a alcohol wipe to sterilize the thermometer, but I wasn't impressed (neither was my dog)! She only did every other dog and didn't tell us she was going to do it. I didnt think this years show wasn't as good as last year as the football fields were a great place for the pups to play off lead and no one was really on them because of the incident. Apparently it was a little poodle that was killed. There were a lot of aggressive dogs there and their owners were not able to restrain them adequately, if you know your dogs aggressive put a muzzle on it! Maybe the organizers should consider a way to have an off leash area but separate the big and little dogs.

Sounds like the puppy has chosen you to be his master. I was never a dog person, always a cat person but my puppy has stolen my heart and I love him to bits. Also you can try to socialise him and there are many good boarding places for dogs. Ours goes to Woof and he is always happy and exhausted when he comes home. Congrats!

I had the same thing, rang RERA and was advised that they cant charge the fee. The agent went ballistic and said that it doesnt apply to freehold, so I asked her to prove it. I still havent paid the fee but I would be happy to if I thought they actually did something over an above the 5% fee I paid when I initially rented!

I have a sony cybershot and I hate it. I wanted a little camera to pop in my bag and give me good quality photos rather than lugging my slr around. The Sony doesnt do this and is awful for night shots they are very pixelated. I would seriously recommend buying a point and shoot from a manufacturer that makes slr's. Not an electronic company. Go for either the nikon or the Canon. They are always bringing out new models so just see what one takes your eye and has the features you are looking for.

Emily, Amy is being very honest and quite true in her advice. I like you have no university degree and am more hands on experience, I found it very hard to get a job when I arrived, it took me 18 months. However, I am much older than you and have been the Head of a department in a very niche financial services sector. It is hard to get a job here without local experience, my advice would be to try and get a job in Aus in Dubai if thats what you really want. Whatever you do, please dont buy a one way ticket, at least have an out if things get tough and you need to get home. Good luck with your decision.

You can make it a few days in advance and keep in an air tight container at room temperature. I normally make it the day before. I never use foil under but use paper, and cut it rather than slide it off the paper. If you have an iPad Donna hay has a great app and the latest edition has a few great tips on pav's

We are on the Palm in Golden Mile and yes Dewa did cut the services to the building, mainly water and lift access. These were common areas and the disconnection was a result of some landlords not paying their fees and the owner association not paying the Dewa bill. Personally, I think Dewa are within their rights to cut the services off, they are not a credit provider they are a business and businesses are to make profits or to get paid for the services they provide. We were lucky that our landlord, who owns property in both shoreline and gm, showed us the receipt from paying his owners association fees. So that gave us comfort that he has met his obligations. But has he met all of his obligations under the lease, no, we were told that we would have access to a pool, but we dont and that's three years down the line. DH and I were discussing this issue last night. DH suggested RERA should sell one of these apartments to claim back the owners association fees but that then leaves the issue of a mortgage to be paid out and if there is anything left over to pay the fees. Its all a vicious circle. I dont think Nakheel is doing its premium product any favours, in fact I think they seriously need to engage some good PR to fix the mess that they have done to their reputation and to the Palm. If the owners dont want Nakheel as their owners association, vote them out and appoint other strata managers. The only thing I am sure of is that this saga is like "days of our lives", its a never ending story and the residents are the ones bearing the brunt of the frustrations.

Yes Big Blue I think we are in agreement and I think Dewa and other utility providers will continue to do this, which is their right. No service provider is a "charity" nor do they give their services for free otherwise they would go broke. If the owners/landlords dont like what is happening, get on the Board of their Owners Association and make things happen, challenge the decisions and work collectively to improve the value of their property and make it a place that tenants/residents want to be. This drives up the value. My personal belief is that eventually these properties will go to the pack and that their inherent values will be diminished as a result of poor management and ongoing maintenance.

Big Blue, agree that as a tenant you must be very cautious when entering an agreement given the current situation. But I cannot believe that investors purchase apartments and do not meet their obligations. Surely if you are an investor, you reasearch what costs are associated post purchase and for many to believe that the developer will bear the cost or the tenant is extremely naive. Unfortunately GM isnt the first case of this occurring its just it got the media publicity. We (at GM) also run the risk of having our AC cut off for exactly the same reason. And I agree with you that this is the only leverage that some of the owners have but many are not active in their Owners Association or are facing financial stress, like the rest of the world. Its just a vicious circle with the tenants being the ones most affected. We still have no gym, we have a pool but no access. And we are told so many fibs by the resident manager that I actually think they are a bunch of Wally's with no idea of customer service. In the end its the tenants that will suffer as a result of ignorance and petty fighting.

It's back on now, but there are many owners who haven't paid their association fees so that the mangers can pay the building connection fees. We were all advised this was going to happen if our landlords didnt pay their fees which resulted in Dewa cutting off the service, just as I got in the shower! A letter was issued to every resident and there were notices in each of the lifts. Hopefully if all landlords pay we will get our pool and gym.

oh, sorry. :( fingers crossed she gets it all sorted soon. thanks - we're getting there slowly! My best friend suffered severe migraines and would end up in hospital on a regular basis for days, and they only got worse following the birth of her LO's. Her mum was on a mission to find a cure as she also has rheumatoid arthritis and these two conditions really impaired her life. She read somewhere that a hole in the heart can also trigger migraines, so following a test they found out she had a very small hole in her heart which was repaired and she has had one migraine in the two years after the procedure. She is a different woman now and has loads more energy, unfortunately she is still suffering with the rheumatoid but much happier. I hope you can sort out your daughters migraines soon.

I bought Apple Tv on the US website about a month ago and they shipped it to my SnS account, didn't get charged customs duty but that could be because it's not expensive. I was speaking to someone who works at Apple here on the weekend and he said the prices are the same as the US.

I got it to work! Just follow the instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4085. Essentially I had to make sure that the mirroring was on by double clicking on the button and swiping to the left and hitting the airplay button and turning on mirroring.

I just checked on apple forum and the app I have is only sound on AirPlay. When i hit play and you choose AirPlay my icon only has the speaker option so the app doesn't have the capability for streaming, which is a shame! Check when you AirPlay if the icon isn't just sound. Hope that helps.

Agree and appreciate everyone's feedback, ironically this is not the first time we have been asked either. And we are living in a much smaller apartment than home as rents here are still horrific. Our main purposes for being here are saving and travel as home is so far away from the rest of the world. Just really got my hackles up and the more I thought about it the more it made me realize that people really don't understand that Dubai isn't all glitz and glamour and diamonds and flash cars. Yes we have a maid, but not a live in, I had a cleaner at home, I still do my own ironing, yes pedicures are cheap but healthcare can be more expensive. Food, well I spend double here than what I did at home. Clothing is more expensive and thank goodness I don't have kids because from what I hear and read its way overpriced.
