At least you guys have access to your facilities! I found out last night that GM residents are going to have to pay for access to the pool and gym, when it eventually opens (if ever)! Our pool is finished but you cant/arent allowed use it and the gym is just a shell. I think that paying for access to the beach facilities is going to have a significant impact to the Palm in general, from both a revenue and reputation perspective. We have been pushing our landlord to get active in the owners association because ultimately it benefits him, if the tenants have good facilities and the owners associations are able to collect the fees and apply them to common area maintenance and upgrages it increases the rent rates and values for the properties. If the common areas are in good repair and clean (unlike the shoreline loo's) then people see value for money and pay a premium for it. Shoreline is starting to look very tired as a result.

There is an article in Arabian Business today about it, in essence if Nakheel get approval from the authorities it looks like it will proceed. This fee has been floating around for a while and I believe the owners association of Shoreline actually approved it, I guess this could be a result of owners not paying their fees for the common areas. Ultimately the end user (tenants) are the ones that will suffer as many owners who are residents will pay the fees. I guess it comes down to a user pays system, but then will it open up the beach club for non residents and then all and sundry will be down using the facilities.

I wouldn't count on a couple of weeks, I thought maybe a few months, DH as optimistic as ever says 12 months the way things work here. Honestly you would think in the interest of good PR they would have advised all residents of their timeframes, even if they over stated! Amazing what a bit of good communication can achieve in restoring good will.

They have actually put in some palm trees and there are pallets of pavers, so it looks like systems are go! I'm terribly excited as it will get rid of the dust bowl out there. We only hope this is an indication that tenants are going in in golden mile (hopefully waitrose). Our management have been in contact with nakheel and I have written to them to see when the finish date is, but surprise surprise no reply!

My mum had a mastectomy 11 years ago including removal of several of her lymph nodes. She also has the most aggressive type of cancer. She was amazing through her treatment and now is the strongest woman I know. She said whilst going to her docs she would get overwhelmed and always took some one with her just to make sure she had all her information right. I went to every chemotherapy session with her, I was there with her for every operation, every blood transfusion. I gave her injections to get the good blood cells ups after chemo. We fought, we laughed and we cried, a lot. We were close before this but now we are even closer, we both think that something wonderful happened to us because of breast cancer. When she was going through this she wanted to speak with other women who had been through the same situation, here doctors (all of them) were able to put her in touch with other women who had been through the same thing, maybe see if your doctor can do this too. Now mum speaks with women in the same situation, I truly admire her being able to do this, I know her struggle with coming to terms with breast cancer. She is australia, if you want to talk with her I can put you in touch. Let me know.

Hi NNes, We don't own an apartment but are renting and can answer some of your questions. 2) no facilities are available, there is 1 small pool which services 3 buildings. Although they are ready for use, ie. Full of water, we are not allowed to access. 3) parking can be purchased at an additional cost or you can rent them from the management. But I must say, they aren't particularly smart as they have spent a considerable sum on restricting access to car parks which are vacant rather than advising residents of the cost to rent and therefore have a further revenue stream for the owners association. 4) absolutely no way is beach access free, the cost varies depending on the time of year. Initially residents were offered at a discounted rate then it went up considerably. 5) we r in a 2 bed and the cooling is no more than 200 aed per month. We do like it here as the finish in the apartment is great and they are large, the other residents are for the most part great, but if you have children there aren't many places for them to play.

as an alternative I am sure they could recommend an ultrasound. For those with dense b00bs ultrasound is done in conjunction with a mammogram, so that could be an option that could be discussed with your doctor if you need to have the xray done sooner rather than later.

I recommended salon ink to a local lady I worked with, she was very happy and still goes there. She has never mentioned any issues with regard to her privacy, but I am sure the girls there would do everything they could to respect each and every customer.

One of our primary criteria was a big balcony. We were shown 4 apartments with no balconies....IN THE SAME BUILDING....what do they think I'm going to walk in and love it. Do most real estate agents know that in the majority of cases its the woman who makes the final decision on the home/house/apartment. Never never pee her off, listen to her and what she wants, will help you close the deal.

Irooni, you cant unfortunately. The decision is theirs and theirs alone. Like AA they have to hit rock bottom before they see the need and they may get there more than once. It's a terrible disease, addiction. I hope that your friend seeks help for herself and obtains the tools to manage and understand the situation. You can't help those who don't want to help themselves. Forgot to add, addiction can be extremely demoralising not only for the addict but the family and the need to help is sometimes overwhelming. Let your friend speak with gam anon, no one judges, they have all been in the same situation. Really is a great support for loved ones of gamblers. edited by littleone on 07/10/2011

PN your doing the right thing contacting the municipality. I'm sure the brute of a man will be more scared of the consequences he will face by having a government department rep at his door. And he may well have the dog removed, if not he will always have the knowledge that someone saw his cruel actions and reported him. Honestly I don't think they have invasion of privacy laws, but I'm not sure.

A friend of mine posted this on fb. I thought it was too good not to share. A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?" The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way: "Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are s3xually active and raise their children with great tenderness. They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia. They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires. Mermaids do not exist. But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish? They would have no *** life and could not bear children. Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad. And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side? Without a doubt, I'd rather be a whale. At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends. We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn't enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies. We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated. Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: "How amazing am I ?! "

Thanks Gege, makes sense as to why the are so unreliable, can't really wait to much longer so guess I will have to look elsewhere. It's strange that even other agents are so lax in replying to enquiries particularly with the market being tough. It's frustrating because a commission pays the bills! edited by littleone on 03/10/2011 because of darn predictive text edited by littleone on 03/10/2011

We had an un-neutered male cat and when he got older he started marking his territory. Including backing up to my little brother (6 yrs) while he was lying on the floor watching tv and marking him. It was terribly funny at the time, but my brother doesnt like cats now.

I have converted from books to the ipad and I love it. The ipad has sounds when you turn the page and I can change the text size, so its big and dont need my glasses. I love going on line to check out the books, i can get a teaser read before I buy, usually the first few chapters and then if I like it I buy it. The thing I miss though is the smell of the books, when you open up a crisp new novel and inhale. Saying that, I dont think I will ever go back to paper.

I have used this for years and only the foundation, never bought the set. I mainly used it for the sunscreen after I had laser done for pigmentation on the recommendation of the doc. I did try other brands when I first moved here as it wasn't available then but they felt gritty and didn't provide the coverage.

Paper lane is at Jumeirah now, no longer umm sequim, not sure of the name of the centre but is the one right before Mercato as you head to the creek. You could also try the paper shops at Dubai Mall, one on the top floor and the one on the ground floor (sorry dont know those names either). Also the big book shop at Dubai Mall (I cant say the name let alone spell it). The paper shop at mercato, upstair at the back to the left of the food court, has some stickers, I was there a couple of weeks ago and they had plenty for weddings. HTH
