Golden Mile doesnt have beach rights or access unless you buy a pass through IFA for Fairmont or buy a yearly pass from Riva at Shoreline. They might have monthly access (I am not sure) but convenience will depend in which GM building you are looking at, its a fair walk from Building One in to Riva in Summer. There is no pool or gym facilities open at GM and unlikely to be until the JV partners resolve their legal issues. No buses to anywhere from the Palm but its fairly cheap for a taxi to MOE. Shoreline I believe that you have to make sure that the Landlord has paid all the community fees so that you have access to the beach, so make sure you get a copy of the receipt that these are paid. For us the tradeoff between the gym/pool facilities available at Shoreline versus GM was the apartment size, we preferred the finish and size of GM to Shoreline and I am not a beach bunny so wasnt a big issue for me. I just needed somewhere that could accommodate my shoe collection and GM have big walk in robes. Also Marina Residences and Fairmont Residences are based off the same apartment layout as GM so these are both good options. They also have pool/gym facilities that GM dont have but are slightly more expensive apartments. edited by littleone on 30/03/2014

I am the same, just the grey stars and I cant do anything with them. i *think* the stars will be related to how many thumbs up / thumbs down you get.... so if you have some stalkers you will be all golden starred. ;) thanks Izzy, this is all too confusing on a Thursday afternoon, I am more focused on my grape juice waiting for me at home than figuring out how to get the thumbs up to work! Its all about priorities. lush ;) Darn it...my like/thumbs up isnt working...yes...lush...but a happy little camper

Waiting for the lift to arrive you stand inches away from the door and get in before anyone gets out. Drives me bonkers!

If anyone says have you seen (insert product) anywhere, I stock up if I find them just in case they are never to be seen on the shelves again, like beef oxo cubes. And if you see any product from your home country you get on EW and let all and sundry know, unless they are twisties and clear the shelves! I have also gone from calling home by its name to "my home country".

google, Edmonds carrot cake recipe. Edmonds are an old NZ company and they produced a cook book with the recipe. littleone have you made the carrot cake from the Edmonds cookbook? Is that how you know or do you have some inside 'dirt'!!?? I actually have a copy of the Edmonds cookbook and the butterfly cakes were my favourite too - it was the first thing I learned to bake! I dont have dirt, well maybe a little. I usually make the Edmonds but also sometimes use the delicious magazine receipe, which can be found at taste.com.au. Unfortunately I cant make the butterfly cakes they turn out like flat mini frisbee's. My whole family cant make a sponge to save ourselves, doesnt matter what recipe we use they are just disasters. Can make a mean Pavlova though!

I love Limetree because it reminds me of the goodies my Mum and Nanna made when I was a wee little girl in NZ. try this: http://www.edmondscooking.co.nz/Default.aspx?PageID=1405288&A=WebApp&CCID=3374&Page=2&Items=4 the butterfly cakes on the first page were my absolute favourite as a kid.

Our fur baby came from Oz to DXB with Emirates, arranged with a pet relocation company and whilst he was happy to see us when he got here, he had been in the crate for over 20 hours which included a stop over in Singapore but wasnt taken out of the crate. He didnt pee the whole time and when we let him out it was a sight to behold, the relief on his face was bliss for him, very embarassing for me. That night he couldnt hold his bladder (he is little and sleeps with us) so not a great evening. Personally when we go back home and if I have the choice of a stop over and he gets a walk I would consider that option, but now that there are direct flights it may be easier on him. Overall, Emirates were excellent a bit of a saga at this end trying to find him in Cargo City and then getting clearances etc. So you might want to check where you have to drop him off because we had to collect from Cargo City. A friend sent her dog back to Melbourne (14 hours) without the use of a pet company and her 13 year old boy was fine. Go with what feels good for you and you Lab.

You might need to have a big chocolate bar, get those sugar levels up! This morning I was definitely wobbly, loads of activity on the tracker in the US. Not the usual feeling I get before it happens in this region though.

What a shame, it was really a great holiday for us and I suffer from motion sickness. The rooms were lovely, it was nice dressing up on the formal nights, having a drink from the back of the ship as you left port. Most ships have fantastic kids clubs as well. Actually the rooms were more spacious than the ones we had on our first trip to Rome and cheaper. Enjoy your trip, Italy is just gorgeous, definitely look at doing Pompeii, it is absolutely worth the effort and there are some tours that run from Rome.

Why dont you look at a cruise, there are some decent deals on at the moment. DH and I have just done one that started in Rome, finished in Venice, did Pompeii, Sorrento and then we did a leg through the Greek Isle. Whilst you only have one day in port you can organise your own tours, you only have to unpack once and you wake up in a new city each day. If not, Venice is a must, its beautiful and Pompeii is amazing.

Unless it is company policy that they dont serve soft drinks to minors then what business is it of the flight attendant. Reading the article and the comments, I think the parent is most likely after compensation, as in a free flight. I wouldnt give a 6 year old a pepsi but I might give them a lemonade and isnt that just as bad? (note: dont have kiddies, I only fuel them up with sugar and give them back to their parents! ;-P)

I saw a post on FB about easily removing callouses. I don't know if it works but was thinking about giving it a try as pedicures never get rid of it all.. The recipe is: 1/4 cup Listerine 1/4 vinegar 1/2 cup warm water Soak feet for 10 minutes in mixture The dead skin is supposed to "nearly wipe off" It might be worth a try - and convenient if it is successful. I saw this and did some on line review research, whatever you do dont buy the blue listerine. Apparently quite a few people ended up with blue nails as the listerine stained their toe nails and any dry skin. Very attractive.

There was also supposed to be fireworks on the trunk which weren't set off, which I am guessing is a result of the overwhelming traffic both car and foot traffic. I am watching the trucks leaving the trunk now and the fireworks are still on the back of the flatbed.[b'> Has there been an official announcement to say we have beat the world record?[/b'> http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2013/12/watch-live-stream-here-dubai-attempts-new-year%E2%80%99s-eve-fireworks-world-record-54187/ Dubai's attempt broke that benchmark by some margin, with enough fireworks launched within the first minute of the display alone to surpass the previous record. edited by carolsinger on 01/01/2014 Thank you Carolsinger. Despite the poor traffic management it was a great night and the fireworks display was excellent. Hopefully a lesson learnt for future events on the Palm and I do feel sorry for the genuine party goers who didn't make it to their events, who had followed advice of the organisers and went to designated areas for access.

At what time did the traffic jam to the Palm start? It started at 5pm, they did stop traffic at one point which was way after 9pm. But the volume of traffic was amazing. I think they stopped traffic after 11pm and it didn't resume again until after 1pm.

I went to aesthetica on the weekend for a treatment (i won it on EW) and Olga the therapist there was explaining the treatments they have, I would recommend going to them for a consultation on what would be appropriate for your skin and what you want to achieve. They do have some specials on at the moment as well.

Oopsie, this is exactly what happened when they opened Atlantis many people had organised parties and had to cancel and we werent allowed out on the beach after 4pm. It will also be difficult for those who have more than one car and are going to work on NYE. I have a massive bee in my bonnet now because of the hassle that DH & I will have trying to get home from work because we have two cars, although I might just have to take a day off work to avoid the frustration. Seriously, two car passes at a minimum not one.

So we had heard rumours of limited access on the Palm on NYE and fair enough but its a little over a week out and nothing formal to residents. I did ring Nakheel yesterday and got what appears to be half a response from Nakheel that we will get 4 passes. Today the papers are reporting yes 4 passes but only 1 car access pass. How is this possible, there are many many people who will be working on NYE and because Nakheel so dictates, with the least possible notice, we have to make arrangements for accessing our homes because the island will be closed from 8am NYE. arrrggghhhh another OID moment which is frustrating. By the looks of it those people going to Sandance are going to have to register to get access so if you are going you might want to get organised soon.
