:D [b'>My poo children [/b'>have had many school days cut short as I arrive too early to get them (and have then sat early on many mornings as I've dropped them off... It's a disorder...:D) Ahhhh.....sorry Amy, but i just cant stop laughing!! My dog's just looking at me like i've lost the plot! Was feeling really fedup, hormonal and generally rubbish this morning, but between this and roxdv on the party thread "having a little brain fart", my day has suddenly got so much better! Thank you for the laugh ladies!! :D

Im considering changing my Dr but to someone at the same hospital as my current one (infact their offices are literally next door to each other!!) I've been stressing about how to tell my current dr if i do decide to change. how do you reckon you're going to tell yours? :s

Hey Simpleas! How are you? Thankfully all went fine with my visitors, eventually!! Took everyone's advice and sent her a pretty strongly worded email saying that it wasnt fair for us and our livelihood to be put at risk just because she couldnt be ar$ed to go see her dr and get the appropriate paperwork. Didnt hear from her for a few days after that, then sent her another email asking if she'd managed to get things sorted and i got a response saying "yeah, its all fine. called the embassy, spoke to a nice little man who told me everything i needed to know then went and saw my GP, and its all sorted. Dont know why you're stressing so much about it!!" Then when they arrived she told me "they didnt even bother stopping us at the airport, so dont know what the point was - you were making a load of fuss about nothing!" Was ready to kill her at this point, but at least she'd got everything just incase. I bet if she hadnt had the paperwork, she prob would have been stopped (sods law and all that!) The rest of their visit was great. Had a really nice time and was quite sad to see them go! Oh well, reckon it wont be long til at least one if not both of them are back! Thanks for asking! :) xx

She would be on her husband's visa I presume but on my visa it says Housewife not allowed to work! Mine also says the same but as americanfamily3 mentioned, so long as her sponsor gives her a No Objection letter allowing her to work, its not a problem. I have quite a few friends who are under their sponsorship but still work having had an NOC from DH.

Hey Emma, Whilst i cant tell you from personal experience, a close friend of mine had the same diagnosis for her little boy at her anomaly scan also with Dr Mirza, and as you say, she also found that lots of people seemed to be being told the same. Her baby was born 3 months ago and is a happy healthy little boy, with the hole having closed by birth. Try not to get too stressed out about it (although i know thats probably easier said than done) Hopefully everything will turn out fine for you and your bub as it did for my friend and hers! Hugs! xx ETA: A few weeks after my friend had her anomaly scan, she was unwell and when under investigation, found out that she'd had the same as a baby herself and the hole is now closed. She lives a very active lifestyle and was completely oblivious that she'd had it in the first place! edited by LMAO-DXB on 05/02/2012

We have a Prado. DH (accountant by birth I believe!) did the research and they hold their value - hence the reason they are more expensive, and the reason they hold their value is obvious...quality and excellent service! Definitely agree with Perces! We had a 2008 Prado (2 door) and absolutely LOVED it!! Also had to get rid of it recently as we're having a baby so wanted to get something with 4 doors. We bought it in 2010 (jan) for AED78k, and sold it in dec '11 for AED74k - having put about an extra 50,000kms on the clock since buying it. :) My friend had a pajero and as others have said, it wasnt such a smooth ride and seemed really noisy compared to our Prado. I personally didnt really like it at all. Both are great on the sand but Id say Prado all the way! Just gutted our budget couldn't stretch to the 4 door version now! edited by LMAO-DXB on 25/01/2012

Hi Mrs Orchid Sorry to hear about your husband's situation. Unfortunately I cant advise about the issue he's having with the company being sneaky! Hopefully one of the other ladies on here will be able to, but what does your hubby do in construction? My hubby is also in construction and has quite a few links - could maybe let you know if he hears of anything going?

Megs, glad to hear your scan went well! Crazy to think how much its moving around and we still cant feel a thing yet! Glad to hear it wasnt just my hubby that thought our baby looked like an "Alien" then! Im sleeping ok but then have to get up at least once or twice in the night to go pee. Grrr!! Oh well, its better than it was a couple of weeks ago when i seemed to briefly wake up every single time i turned over in bed (which seemed to be a heck of a lot!). Good to see everyone's getting on pretty well tho! :)

Congrats Pancake! Pink team is sooo exciting!! Blue team would also be exciting too but was in some shops at the weekend being obsessed with all the gorgeous little dresses they have!! How many weeks are you now?? At our NT scan, the Dr said that from the scan he reckons its 90% we're on the pink team too, but apparently the heart rate was quite low which indicates more towards blue team - so could still go either way! (maybe its a boy with a teenie weenie little wiener!! ;) ) We're happy whichever way it goes - same same but different, right?! ;) Plumie, hope the acupuncture helps! i have NO idea how you're coping with such rubbish sleep! Think i would just be pure evil by now!! Hats off to you but hope it sorts itself out soon! Hope to meet some of you soon! Plumie - will send you an email! Thanks for organising!! :)

Thanks for your comments. I wasnt asking for anyone's judgement or opinions on getting her to pee on the balcony. Why is this any more "gross" than allowing your dog to pee in your garden? Funnily enough, I wasnt just planning on allowing pools of pee to collect and stand there for days on end - do you not think that I would be able to smell in it in my own apartment way before any of my neighbours would?? However its much easier and quicker to give the balcony a quick wash down on a daily basis than taking her out for walks in the middle of summer when im either ready to pop or have a new born baby and am at home alone. Im stressed out enough as it is right now, and comments like this are less than helpful! Thank you for the constructive comments that have been made (and kind wishes for my pregnancy) - perhaps I have been assuming she needs to go more frequently than she really does. Back at home my parents had dogs and they only went for a long walk once a day but they did have a big garden to run around in and pee there if they needed and would regularly ask to go out. So i guess im just trying to make up for the fact that we dont have a garden and she doesnt have that freedom. Altho she's nearly 3, we've only had her about 6 months and tried to train her on the balcony when we first got her but with no success. Guess its time to give up, and just go for 2 walks a day. Thanks for your advice.

Hi ladies! I desperately need help to toilet train my dog. She's a K9 dog, nearly 3 years old and she's exceptionally well trained in terms of she wont pee or poop in the apartment (was like this when we got her) but the problem now is that: 1: Summer is on its way and there are no grassy areas where we live to take her out - only sand. In the middle of summer during the day time, the sand will burn her feet 2: Im pregnant and due in July, so my ability to randomly take her out as and when during the day is going to rapidly decrease. For these reasons Im trying to train her to go on the balcony so we can still take her for walks early morning and late evening, but then she has an alternative during the day. I've currently been taking her out 4-5 times per day and she pee's every time. I've tried EVERYTHING i can think of - news paper with that puppy training spray on, fake grass with / without the spray on.....not working. She's now on lock down and trying to get her into the routine that she has to pee on the balcony before she goes for her walk. No pee = no walk. She's such a stubborn little sod, she's just refusing and has taken to having a pee first thing in the morning (with a lot of persuasion) after which she gets lots of fuss, treats, and then a long walk, but then wont do anything at all until the next morning. Iv tried leaving the balcony door open so she can come and go, shutting her out on the balcony, taking her out at regular intervals, tried taking her out on her lead....nothing is working and I've had enough!!! Also worried she's going to do herself damage by holding on for so long! Please....does anyone have any other bright ideas as to what i can do?? Any suggestions hugely appreciated! TIA!

Hey Ladies! Welcome to any new-comers! Hope everyone is doing ok! Havent had chance to get on here for a few days so just thought id pop a quickie on to say we went for our NT scan and everything is fine! :) SO relieved! And Dr Mirza was fine. He's definitely an information imparter rather than a chatter, but he was fine with us, and really informative as to what he was seeing on screen. Was fab seeing our little one wriggling around! DH just kept saying "Wow....it looks like an alien!!" Gota love 'em eh?! ;) Feeling much more relaxed and have started spreading the news. Just been reading one of the other threads and now want to go stick my head in a large bucket of ice cream!! :D

Thanks for your reassuring words sami and plumie. Im sure it will all be fine, but just cant help being a little worried - things all seem to have been a little bit straightforwards so far (this is very rare for me, there's usually a catch somewhere along the way! ;) ) Our appt is at 08:30, so will check what time they open incase we can go a little earlier to get the paperwork done. Plumie, can you remember how much it all cost when you had yours? Did you see Dr Mirza? Thats who im booked in with and have heard some pretty mixed reviews about him recently. Also, do you need to have a full bladder for this one? I always hate those - when i need to go, i NEED TO GO!! could get messy! ;) Did you get to find out the *** of your baby at your NT? Sorry for all the questions! Will be glad when its all done and we've seen our baby properly and that all is well! Will keep you posted on how it goes! :) xx

Hey ladies! Glad to hear some of you are starting to feel better now! Hope the dodgey dreams stop soon for niggley and plumie! I had a few weird ones to start with but nothing that bad. Lavender is supposed to have a calming effect so might be worth trying lighting a lavender candle and having a sniff just before you go to bed? My sickness seems to have pretty much gone now (YEAY!!) so long as i keep nibbling on a fairly regular basis. Am addicted to cheese and pickle, and haribo's (altho not sure the pregnancy is to blame on either of those, but its my excuse anyway!! ;) ) Feeling a bit fed up today tho as i just look fat at the moment rather than pregnant. I cant do the buttons up on my trousers and have heard you can get some kind of trouser ties / extension things so you can leave the buttons open and your trousers dont fall down! but cant find them ANYWHERE! Just got a whole load of blank stares from staff in Baby shop, mothercare, jenny rose...etc today. Anyone know what im on about and where i can get them from?

You have to fill in a detailed form confirming you are not pregnant, so you won't have the chest xray done if you are. :) Fab, thats good to know! When i went for my last medical in Sharjah, they didnt even ask - just got herded into a room to queue then get xray'd. Was worried incase it would be the same at Satwa.

Hey Sami. Congrats on your progression to a grape!! :D Im finding the only thing that is keeping my sickness at bay for any length of time at all is chicken super noodles, and chicken noodle soup! Think im gona look like a super noodle by the end of this! Feeling sick is just the pits, isnt it! Im only on week 7 and people keep telling me "dont worry, it'l probably stop around weeks 12 - 14", Like knowing iv prob got another 5-7 weeks of feeling like a big sack of pants is supposed to make me feel better??!! Then yesterday (my worst day so far) hubby decided to take his life into his own hands and start calling me "Mardy"!!!!! If only we could inflict morning (or all day) sickness onto our husbands....now that would make me feel better!! :D I went to see Dr Ibrahim at City. He's very nice, but still thinking I will transfer to Dr Elsa as soon as I can get an appointment with her - prob in March, but im happy to stay with Dr Ibrahim til then.

I hate the word fanny, full stop (I was going to say 'period' but that's another word I don't like). I hate the words "fanny" esp when used by americans referring to your bum (in the UK it has a whole different meaning!!) and the "V" word relating to the place that the UK is on about when americans say fanny! Im cringing and pulling a face just typing about them and cant even bring myself to type the "V" word in full! My Canadian husband calls bum-bags 'fanny packs' SIMPLY because he knows it makes me cringe. Although I did snigger and (post a photo on FB) when I saw 'fanny packs' for sale in Canada EEEewwwww!! thats just grim!!! not the product, but the fact its called that! Altho, bum-bags are actually pretty grim themselves!!
