I hate these situations, so many factors to consider, even harder for those who believe in women's rights and equality. Goodness women have fought for years to have equality in the workplace over this very issue and here we are approaching 2014 with women openly saying to sack another woman for being pregnant!!!!!!!! I really have mixed feelings on this one. I have a rather cynical view that women don't just get pregnant (only exceptional circumstances do i believe this is true). I personally have a real issue with certain nationalities that produce like rabbits for their families to bring up their sprogs, a personal one i know but logic would dictate to me to get financially stable and then go home to have babies and raise your own kids. Then on the other hand i have a real problem with sacking a good employee because she is pregnant. Boy that is really going to help her fortunes and what does that say about women employers in a civilized society? The help is great? The help has been honest about the situation? Therefore i think you should inquire about a health card and pregnancy cover at one of the government clinics/hospitals. Not everyone can afford BUPA and I am sure there is provision for low wage earners and pregnancy. (you just need to find it). I see no reason why she can not work until delivery. I think you should talk with her and discuss her plans for the future and all possibilities that may be available. Then together i think you should make a plan of action that works for both of you. To sack someone right now for being pregnant (if not in a contract) is just wrong in my view, to feel anger about the situation is wrong and non productive, let alone selfish.

The trouble is you are maintaining a lifestyle you had prior to having a child. In my eyes your whole routine is up the creek and your days are spent recovering from your evenings. Now this going out business is either cultural or habit but either way if you wish to have a more fruitful day you have to change everything. The reason you can not cope is because you are exhausted and your baby is completely out of any routine. So i'm afraid it's all about priorities, balance and routine.

Morning Ladies...anyone know of a good English teacher/tutor in Dubai (I can google lots but would rather have recommendations) My daughter needs some help (grade 5) with English comprehension and I am finding it difficult trying to teach/help her with something that frustrates me! Her school are doing nothing wrong and she is in a top set (other areas in English - grammar, creative writing all excellent) just the comprehension seems to be becoming a killer :( Thanks in advance! If she is top set i do not understand why you are concerned, approach and discuss with school prior to engaging a tutor.

No specialists comparative to say a children's orthopedic hospital in UK, US or Europe but a few who may be able to help and worth a visit. I would personally start with UP and Running and see Dr Anna and take her advice as to whether orthotics will help or whether you need to travel abroad to see a specialist surgeon.

That approach works if you don't want your kids using the Mail app at all, but Kooky wants her kids to access their Hotmail accounts through it. The iPad's built-in restrictions only allow you to have Mail switched on (in which case all accounts are accessible) or off (in which case all accounts are inaccessible). I guess a way around it would be to have Mail permanently switched off, and have the kids access their Hotmail accounts via Safari. You just change the mail account, it really is not as difficult as being made out. I have two ipads set up like this, icloud and itunes all are on my account and one of the ipads has mail access which has to be logged into with the kids email add and password. You can change the mail as well if you can be bothered and still have cloud etc in other name.

You can do it as i have done it on my children's i pads. You set up the restrictions and to only one account and log put of mail. On that ipad the icloud settings will remain the same and films/apps etc but your mail will not show unless logged into. So go to restrictions and have a play around.

My son doesn't eat any breakfast food, she's not missing much if she doesnt eat cereals (processed), I offer him a cooked meal for breakfast (dinner leftovers), you can try to make plain cheese pizza / manakheesh with white cheese & add 1 egg to the cheese, or add 1 egg to the dough. He's very picky, he doesnt eat any frsh fruits or raw veggies but he's fine with stews served with rice/ freekheh/ bulgur wheat. I also add grounded flax seeds & chia to stews for Omega 3. I offer him smoothies & milkshakes & I add some raw greens & dates molasses to sweeten them. The trick is adding loads of steawberries to keep it pink. He also likes carrefour fruit pots with no sugar added. He is 4 yrs, at 1 yr it was a struggle to get him to eat anything other than yoghurt, cheese & baby cereals, but I went cold turkey with the cereals at 2 yrs as they are too processed. There is a good thing about his pickiness as he deosnt eat any junk not even chocolates, biscuit s, candies, crisps & so on which is a blessing with a picky eater But you are overloading with sugar, all fruit contains sugar and date molasses is incredibly high in sugar. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

so my 1 year old DD will only eat cheese or yougurt. Its a struggle feeding her breakfast and lunch since she will spit out anything I feed her and I have to succumb to offering hr cheese 2 times a day. She's fine during dinner times since she will eat what we are having which is mosyly rice or mild curries. I want to add eggs and cereals to her diet but she just wont have any of it. Any healthy ideas for breakfast that fussy toddlers might like. You have to set by example and sit and eat other foods and leave her to get on with it and investigate new foods. She needs a balanced varied healthy diet and feeding excessive cheese is not providing that. You are the adult she is the baby.

Ruth i suggest you take the tracking number down off the site. A quick google can tell you where the package is and a call to Empost will confirm if still here and you can either go and collect at Central post office or have it forwarded to your PO box address (possibly). I'm in the process of chasing a parcel from Germany and i have to say Empost have been simply brilliant and so helpful to deal with.

If you can Brave Dubai Mall, you will have Galeries lafayette where you can easily purchase a ready made Ginger bread house or a kit, most of your groceries and then you head for Marks and Spencer not far away for fruit cake and more goodies. ENJOY!

We went and i have to say the cast and performance was Broadway all the way, absolutely terrific! It has some wonderful one liners and a bit of profanity ( if you are taking kids). My advice is only to sit directly in front of the stage or further back rather than at the very front sides in order to really enjoy and not strain your neck! I was a bit miffed about the seat configuration but would still go and advise to go and watch this fabulous show. Unlike when CM was there when we went there was not movement to the central seats as the security was ready but they allowed movement further back to the tiered seating without any issue. I couldn't find a program available there but goggled on return home "Chicago" found the cast page and the tour cast. I did so because i was blown away by them and wanted to know who they were!

So according to Lolacat, what we're looking for with this thread is specifically parents of teenagers who have stolen from them. Which narrows it down somewhat. And those who do remain perhaps would not like to share this info as let's face it, who wants to admit they have thieving children! All other posters need not apply! Merry Christmas :) In principle that is an excellent proposal, sensible and prudent practice, that posters make comment on posts based on some form of relevant life experience rather than statements based on (fill in gap).

Actually you don't know what you would do, until you have teens and experience you can only say what you think at this point is your opinion on how you would handle a situation. Well, isn't that the case with most threads on here. Everybody constantly advises on situations they haven't been in. So I fail to see your point. It is very easy for posters to say what they would do, it is seen all the time and perhaps this is what adds to the entertainment value, personally i find it rather dull and tiresome. The same as when points are tried to be made yet declared not made in order to make the point which is normally not a point at all, pointless. There are three answers to this. 1) The legal perspective - not answering a direct question on a form may result in a school being able to remove the child from the school later on as not declared. 2) The child - Does it benefit the child or not to have the school informed. 3) The parent - has a parental right to make the best choices possible for their child based on information sourced. You must do as you see fit based on the information and circumstances laid out before you.

A friend suspects her 16 yr old teenage son is stealing money from her purse. 200dhs missing yesterday. A large amount of money was also stolen from a classmate in his school, the culprit was never found but he was one of the people who had access to the classroom at the time and was questioned. He has eveything he needs, I personally think she indulges him tbh, she is hurt and angry of course. Anyone been in this situation? What should she do? You don't need to post this on here surely? It's not rocket science is it? You open the lines of communication and if the parents can not do that they involve someone who can and they find out why the person in question feels they need the money and then they help guide that young person through whatever troubles they have, because that young person has troubles of some form that need help.

Is she 100% sure it was him? Does she go thru his stuff / pockets? Did he suddenly spend a lot of money after the school incident? Maybe she can set a trap for him, leave a 500dh note lying around and then ask later on if he's seen it? How did the school resolve the issue? Did they just accept the money disappeared, surely they have cameras. If this is true it is really sad. What does he need the money for? This is sometimes the case when dr*gs or alcohol are involved which I sincerely hope is not the case. If he is caught, as a mother, I would read him the riot act, ground him, cut off his allowance, make him pay the money back and make a huge deal of NOT calling the police as stealing in this country will land you in jail. Where is the father in all this? Actually you don't know what you would do, until you have teens and experience you can only say what you think at this point is your opinion on how you would handle a situation.

Before you go jumping in having your son tested for an outrageous sum of money and loaded with every *ia* under the sun, please go back to basics and think logically through the whole situation. What is the teacher like? Some kids just deteriorate with a bad/new/grumpy/uninspiring teacher. What has she done in class to help? Where is your child's self esteem since going up a year group? Is he left or right handed? Look at previous year's work, was it poor, what do the school reports say? Ask the school for a full tracking breakdown over the last few years of his assessment scores. Do you think he has any issues? Boys and handwriting...........notoriously an issue...........kicking a football around is far more fun!

Thank you Plum 2 and Lolacat. Would either of you happen to know if the KHDA are accommodating with children going back to school after being home schooled please? I understand that once school is happy to accept them back its just a matter of paperwork.....any ideas? TIA I've heard mixed feedback on this, from yes it's fine as long as the school says so, to no they have to have been in a recognised program ie the K12 program. I know of several whom home school who "do" the program for this reason.

Apparently she got banned quite a while back, although I have no idea why. I don't know if she's just washed her hands of the whole place or come back and kept a low profile. She did get banned after 20,000 posts :-( Not a lot to really comment on right now though, is there? edited by QueenL on 12/12/2013 How on earth does a poster who has posted 20K's worth pf posts get banned? What on earth was it for? I think it says an awful lot.

Hmm, well that's quite some issues you have going on Jo91. Maybe you should see if your medical insurance covers you seeing a psychiatrist. I'm afraid you will not get all the answers you are looking for on this forum, it simply is not possible but maybe posters may know of any community mental health programs or groups you can access free of charge.

Ha ha, is it acceptable? Well of course not, nor are the fifty thousand other non events i could think of. The reality is that most schools do diddly do the last couple of weeks of any term, so who cares? I understood that there was a minimum number of days kids had to attend school, unfortunately there seems to be leeway on this, no make up days and no one ever looks into the numerous numerous non academic days. And then parents wonder why they have to employ tutors to get their kids through exams!!!!!

CM, disagree all you like. I'm just telling you what the science says. The "science" in one book, based on what criteria and evidence? However, it is well known and proven over the years that children who have actively interested parents involved in their education do better academically. A school that involves and communicates well with parents is the ideal. Read the book. Gladwell is well known for writing about science and the follies of conventional wisdom. He looks at many scientists' research and writes about their findings. Quite entertaining too - like Thinking Fast and Slow. Another brilliant book. ETA: I bet you thought a small class size was ideal, too, right? If the problems with the seat were identified and reported to crew they normally do their very best to move the passenger in my experience, unfortunately sometimes flights are full but a letter to the airline is the next move (as long as reported to crew). In business you can have tea and coffee at any time, one just has to press the call button. As for full cream tea and scones, i think this went out in the 1950's! lol As you are writing to complain anyway just add all the issues to your list!

Reiterating what Nomad has said, please do get your child to a qualified doctor and checked out properly. Antibiotics are not bad and can save lives, this obsession for avoiding them in the modern privileged world risks lives totally unnecessarily; ironic when you think of all the children in the world who die each and every day because they can not access something as simple as an antibiotic! In your own words you state your child has a [u'>very bad throat[/u'>, imagine just how painful that is for your child? Take your child to a doctor who will make the decision as to what treatment should be given.
