Does he come from a house and upbringing with discipline? Or is having to follow rules a new concept for your child? Do you have issues with your child in these areas or do you feel it is just a school issue? By answering those questions you will know how to proceed forward. I.e. is this an issue that needs an Ed psyche/counsellor or just a change in parenting/adaptation? What does the school say? The team at NAS are very experienced they should be able to advice as to whether this is the right school for your child and what can be implemented to help your child fit in. Changing schools just to one with a counsellor may not be the correct move at this time. You need to identify what the issues are and what are your child’s needs before moving so you can move to the right school for your child or not. I would suggest you also speak to the Head of your child’s year and the Headmaster and ask for their advice.

Thank you everyone for the replies, very much appreciated! one more question, is there a nursery in VH or close for a 1 year old? Why don't you look at Dovecote Green community, same company and small. Very close to VH. There are also some new schools opening in that area this September. If you have not paid the deposit you still have lots of choice, if you have paid and can not afford to lose it then look at transfering to a same company school closer to home for this age range.

I was quoting what the headmaster told me. My daughter passed the DC entrance exam a few years ago I dont think things have changed much since then. 11+ forums have lots of info on passing the 11+ exams Yes they have changed an element in the entrance exam and no amount of tutoring will get a child in who is not the right fit for the school. It's not about how many activities your child does either, from what i understand having spoken to a few children who sat this year and what they sat. <em>edited by Lolacat on 08/03/2015</em>

If you are an adult and know your perscription ( you can get one from Moorfields eye hospital Dubai) then you can order online from abroad, we buy all our glasses from the UK for a much better price they are delivered very quickly. We have used eyewearbrands.com with good results.

Thank you everyone. Unfortunately, my father lives back in my home country, I have not seen his wound my self. I was told very late and now I am flying specially to take him to some specialists as he doesn't care much about his health. I don't know which route I should take, checking with a GP and then for Endocrinologist or directly go to Endocrinologist?. His diabetes is always controlled, and he is active person.....I believe it is diabetes related foot ulcer....but I wish its just normal wound. You have answered the problem, he does not care about his health much. Diabetic wounds need good nursing, with the help of his GP see if you can get on top of treating the wound. I would go to his GP and speak to the gP directly and see what the GP says and what /who else is available to help with the wound. You may find the GP has done everything correct but your father is just not following the advice and taking the issue seriously, this is very common in older patients. QTS is easy to get if you are in the UK and already hold a degree and PGCE and is only required for maintained (state sector) schools. Depending on provable experience it can be gained on assessment criteria. So Anon, you would easily get QTS status if you choose to teach in the UK. Some universities incorporate QTS into the PGCE. Some state schools only require a degree and QTS not a PGCE. Scarily the qualification required to actually become a teacher are quite minimal. A minimum C grade or more in Maths, English and a science for up to KS 2/3. A degree is required to gain QTS status. Sorry! Completely missed the fact that your child was only 3 years old! No, I don't think I'd be putting a 3 year old on a bus either! I know at the start of the Year Repton Early Years does put a board up for parents to contact each other re sharing lifts or car pooling. It used to be that Repton EY children were not allowed on the bus system, maybe this has changed.

We applied to different schools, including one in Victory Heights, none of them accepted, only Repton offered a place There are lots of places in many schools that would be closer to you. Have you looked at Foremarke?

The school does have a bus service but im not sure if it goes to Victory Heights. To drive it would take a maximum of 30minutes in the morning i think. A three year old on a bus service? Really? Who does that? You have to get a driver and nanny or sort something out with your work to accomodate the school hours and holidays. Why not look at a school closer to home or on your way to work? This is only EY there are some excellent schools to choose from.

Yes ... Happiness is a choice for those who are not majorly afflicted by something serious in life... And being one of those I am happy... Of course there are some tough times but they teach you a lesson or two in life, so alhumdullilah .... Prayer for those who are unhappy for whatever reasons, wherever they are... Even in tough times you can Choose to be happy...... thankful, grateful that its not worse. Without sorrow we don't appreciate the true gift of joy........ so he happy even in the sad times :) And remember that the only person responsible for your happiness is YOU. Really there are something’s that do need any replication! How to build yet more divide between societies. Who exactly is going to travel to this place? Certainly not Europeans……why would they? Arab nationals? Why would they? I really do not understand the whole club scene and how certain values can rub along, I just don’t think they can. I can’t think of anything worse.

Have you asked the school why? Maybe they can sit down with you and explain. Of course i did! They have a new teacher this term, so i asked her how come they are repeating the same thing, she lied and said she didn't know they've done it before. All the kids said that before handing them the papers she told them i know you've done it before but that was 3 months back and you forgot. That is more worrying than repeating the test, why lie? What are they hiding?

Love to know which school this is, yes go to KHDA and bring it to their attention, they can do a spot inspection. Of course if results improve it looks better and less questions get asked as to why children are not improving........because most parents never know... Some schools do churn out the same set of standardised tests each year, the results always look better. The give away is teh kids coming home telling you it was the same test! lol

Poor Cherpie, It’s sadly all about control and your OH appears to be a very big bully boy. He aims to make your life miserable, question is how long you have to suffer this? Maybe you should look at other ways that may not be so conventional to get out with your children back to the US? Or perhaps you could just overfeed him high fat foods and wait for the result?

The American schools do have counsellors as do Gems World academy. Most BC schools have a pastoral care Head, have you taken your concerns to that person?

Plans change over summer and people decide to move elsewhere. This puts schools in a difficult position as they cant fill the empty places. I don't think this will ever be the case for DC, hundreds went for their places and only the creme got in. The non profits have lower fees and need to raise capital to invest in staff and rising costs, debentures are a good way for them to do that. At least most debentures in the no profits are refundable not like some other schools where deposits are asked for very early in the year and non refundable. With so much movement and fluctuation in the jobs market, NO ONE can predict whether they will be here in 6 months time or not. I think a few schools are wary of the new schools opening and the fact parents now have choice and by making sure deposits are non refundable and paid early will somehow put parents off leaving.......good luck with that attitude. Yes I am positive we returned the books, I dropped them off to my daughter who took them in, as it was end of exams no one was in the class. We were leaving Dubai so did not have the luxury of going back and getting each teacher to sign for the books. It's not the cost which is irrelevant it's the sheer audacity to treat a child's results like a pawn in a chess game! If they do this for a child's certificates imagine what else they do to children and parents. I have heard first hand of Repton locking out children from class who were late paying fees even by a few days! no explanation given to the child just sit in that room all day with no teacher!! wow a quality school !!! Parents beware. So the books went back to school? Why not contact KHDA and the exam boards directly and lodge a complaint? Did you sign any terms and conditions telling you that exam certificates would be held if books were not returned? Were you ever informed that books were chargeable on top of the fees? Worst case, Amazon a copy set to the school. You could see if the exam board will send you another certifcate with results on? You should have the candidate number and details of the boards.

NAS did it too a few weeks ago. They told the little ones it was a hiding game which seemed to reduce any "scare" factor they might have picked up on. I think it's a good idea to do it but also I can't even think about it ever being needed, it's just too frightening. Better to have done the drill though I suppose. The feedback from parents i know about the NAS one was that is was very well handled and organised, ie someone actually thought about it!

No vitamins or anything else unless prescribed by a doctor. Sorry but your DH is unaware (polite) of the role and qualifications held by British trained and qualified GP's. Give me a good British GP any day over many other *specialist doctors holding qualifications from some other countries*. The link i sent you quite clearly shows that one of the Dr's holds a peads qualification, but all UK GP's hold paediatric training anyway. I posted these two doctors as they are round the corner from you and both brilliant family doctors. Anyway sounds as if things are much better, all the best.

What absolute nonsense! SO the weather is great and kids are out playing, which as long as they do supervised and respectfully I see no issue. SO no play means what? Diabetes and childhood obesity? Well that’s great for the future generation! I would see if you have a neighbour who is the same nationality as the owner of the compound and see if they can speak on behalf of the majority and find out why these rules have been implemented. There is no way I would live in a compound where it states children cannot use their bikes, what tosh. Ignore it and see what they do, nothing, because unless you have signed community rules in your rental agreement saying you agree to such there is nothing that can be done. 7 days? <em>edited by Lolacat on 24/02/2015</em>

Daily Mail photos of the damage shows much more extensive damage than the 7 days images. Think the 7day is one side of the building and the Daily mail showing the side that was severely damaged. Some serious damage in the DM photos, wow.

Reemonita, you must not give your baby any vitamins unless a doctor perscribes them, it actaully could be very dangerous for such a small baby, so please don't. I see you are in DSO. You are really in luck, because right on your doorstep there are two super British GP's in the Symbiosis clinic at the Cedre Spinneys complex. In the UK our GP's are trained in all aspects of family medicine and that includes babies and new mums. Both Dr Sarah Gilbert and Dr Naila have a huge amount of experience and hold further qualifications in family medicine. In the UK we would not see a paediatrician unless our GP had referred a child for further specialist consultation. We always see GP's for our babies and health visitors. I really do suggest you book a longer appointment (double) to see one of these excellent doctors, preferably when baby is due a feed and have a big chat about all your concerns. I'm really sure they can help reassure you and have the experience to know if more needs to be done. Also remember that babies go through periods where they do seem to take less milk/food, these are because they are not in a growth spurt phase and to new mums it can seem as if they are feeding a lot less. Normally this can come after a period of growth when baby is quite willing to take quite a lot, so the difference can worry new mums. Babies normally have a way of regulating themselves, to a point. Reflux is awful and can be very stressful for mums, but you really need to try and relax a bit as it sounds as if you are a super mum. Try and trust yourself more and enjoy your baby. Having a good GP/doctor’s support can really help. Also try and see if there are any baby groups in DSO either in Semmer or Cedre you can join so you can speak to other mums with new babies around. Ski slopes in Western Canada closing for the season , snow has melted. Maritimes buried in snow some cars in the streets almost covered and folks digging tunnels out of their houses. The world weather seems to be on its head at the mo. It is weird, snow on lemon trees in fruit is a strangely beautiful sight. Never thought I'd be out de- icing the path in Cyprus! Well it saves on adding any ice to the G & T with a slice! lol
