My hands are fine (aged 39 & 3 quarters), but my nails are stained!! Too much red nail varnish stains them to the point that actually embarresses me to take them to a nail bar ...............add cooking with turmeric into the mix & my nails are fit for no one other than myself to fix .................. I am literally too ashamed to take my talons to a nail bar .......... (sorry, pre edit I can not spell embarress!! - well i could if I googled it but its late) x

Hey Tia, for things like the below i usually text 4644 and ask them as i can never be bothered to check out on the net/know which is best or how much etc. they respond usually in about 5 mins, you can ask them anything, phone numbers etc so pretty handy when on the move Ha ha Jo-Harper can't believe no one else has picked up on it. LL isn't called Tia - TIA means "thanks in advance". ;) LOL - I spent weeks when I first joined trying to work out why there were so many ladies called here called Tia ...... finally sussed it along with HTH :-) edited by Loopy Lotti on 09/01/2011

We did a desert safari last year, it was ok apart from I found the actual dune bashing absolutely terrifying and thought our driver was a madman - the others loved it, reinforcing the fact that I really am the worlds largest wuss these days ;-) Some fab ideas there ladies!!! Love the idea of a trip to Al Ain as I've not yet been there either - DH will just have to miss out this week - hehehe. Can't wait to see my parents ...... just hope they don't drive me toooooooo insane after 48hrs as they do have a lifelong habit of bickering insanely......:-) The more on our agenda the less chance for them to bicker ;-) Thank you all so much for your input ;-)

I must admit if I had kids and more money ........ I'd still never consider a live in maid...... BUT, for those that can afford and for those that have good maids I envy! Diff horses for diff courses and if I had the money for a few ponies & had my life blessed me with a couple of rug rats maybe I'd think differently. Each to their own!! xx

Sorry RS I really dont mean this to be flippant ..... but my goodness yet another maid related thread!! I'm so lucky to live in serviced apts where 'the boys' come in twice a week to change the bed linen, towels, hoover round, dust and clean down surfaces. If we've been really lazy the night before we leave them out 15 dhs & they'll even do our washing up and put it away before we come home the next day. I liken it to the fairies having being in!! Am so lucky and so glad I dont have to endure a full time live in maid!!! LLx

The actual content of this thread aside .... I have to say the amount of maid stories I read on here keep my entertained & amused for hours on end!! To the point where I wonder whether there shouldnt be a stand alone maid board along with foodies, babes n bumps etc etc. Sorry don't mean to be glib but honestly you lot keep me in hours of giggles (I don't have a maid so can't empathise entirely). xxx edited by Loopy Lotti on 06/01/2011

I had 2 hrs of pyschometric tests (eeeuuuuukkk!!), then an interview a week later that lasted no more than 20 mins - got the job :-) Am currently sat here scanning all my qualification certs (inc o all o levels going back 24 years!!), filling out a gazillion forms to inc detailed info re my parents (CID checks ;-( ) and I think next they'll be asking me for proof of my dead pets DOB & copies of my cycling profficency tests!!! Oh well, another few weeks of being a Satwa Sally whilst that little lot gets processed and I finally get a start date!! (for a job that verbally confirmed at the beg of Dec!!). Good Luck OP - I think 20 mins is a good sign. Fingers crossed you get the job. x

LOL this thread has moved from being about fighter jets to excessive speeding on the roads (which I do also abhor!). Going back to the jets ...... I read a few weeks before Xmas that the UK & UAE armies were having a little practice together, maybe what the OP saw was a continuation of that play date? http://www.thenational.ae/events/areas/abu-dhabi/uae-and-britain-join-forces-for-training-exercise

Oh SueB thank you so much for your support. Why did I stop (or rather start again) after 3 weeks? ......... hmmmmm a combo of all your reasons I think!!! I was forced into stopping because I found myself with child (how lovely and old fashioned does that sound ;-) I unfortunately lost said child at 3 mths (but this is NOT a sob story!!!). Altho I was devestated ....and theres time for me yet just - IF I give up smoking!!!!) The confidence to stick it out tho is very poingnent.....its an insipidus horrible drug and i SO wish I'd listent to my heavy smoker parents at aged 14 ... luckily they both gave up many years ago, Dad was a heavy heavy 60 a day man ...who now at 69 is one of the fittest chaps I know & Mum at 64 is even healthier having given up some 15 years early than Dad ........

Ahhh Shazman thank you so much for your reply. I'm looking for some inspiration which you've given! I've also read about weird dreams side effects, but then again I tend to occasionally have weird dreams anyway so if that is the only side effect of Champix I'm up for a go! I've also read that nausea can be a side effect, and that I would struggle with ...........but different horses for different courses & I'm hoping my internal horse is capable of jumping this particular course!! I am due to start a new job in January so new pastures and with a 40th coming up in Feb the time is definately due to give it my best go at giving up ..... in fact dont they say dont give up just stop ...... a pyschological brain thing :-) Good luck Shazman into your latter months of being a non smoker .... I so hope to join the ranks of non smokers soon!! x

Hi lovely ladies ...... how many of you out there still smoke or are ex smokers??? My smoking career is so overdue to end & I am historically rubbish at quitting the distusting weed (3 weeks is the most I have managed over the past 10 years & 5 times of trying to quit). So, I'm now looking at a drug to attempt to quit ...... have any of you any experience of Champix???? It supposedly deadens the receptors in your brain to make you believe you do not actually enjoy the smoke any more .... I'm all for make believe but would love to hear any of your stories of quitting with or without Champix. Help!!! I want a 2011 nicotine free life!! x

When I did body pump, I put on almost 5kg and even though I change my exercise regime now, I didn't lose much of those weight gained. Maybe you could try. Legs do get a bit muscly after body pump. That's because muscle is more dense than fat and weighs more. AC, what kind of weight are you looking to gain? Is it that you're really skinny and need to fatten up a bit? Or looking to put on muscle mass - they require different approaches. I'm 1m70 and I'm 54kg I need to gain 6kg to be at my best weight I need both some fat and some muscles ! LOL I read this as I'm I'm 70 ...... which didnt compute as you have 2 v young children .... having donned my glasses and reread makes sense now :-) Good luck with your weight gane

Indigo at Grosvenor House Hotel - the chef has a Michelin star. Food amazing, service fantastic and ambience just lovely. Not a cheap option but if you like Indian food cooked to Michelin standards then this place is a must. Enjoy where ever you end up!
