I'm also following! Looking for the same as SalsB in terms of wanting to be close to Male, but also a must is that it's all inclusive and kid friendly as our LO will be 14 / 15 months when we want to go in Nov or Dec. Bandos looks amazing but sadly don't seem to have availability over our dates :-(

Rather than answering a classified that a maid places, I placed an ad specifying exactly what we required......it worked and I've ended up with an amazing nanny. No 1 - I specified [b'>exactly [/b'>what we were after in terms of hours, duties, time off & stated salary, based upon experience. It (in most cases) weeded out the time wasters, or rather the unrealistic ones trying their luck! No 2 - I asked them to respond to the advert by sms or email as I didn't want to or have the time to speak to the 20 or 30 callers per day!! (the amount of responses was staggering, 80% of them were not worth interviewing in my book). SMS or email gave me an idea to their grasp of English rather than a 10min time wasting conversation on the phone struggling to understand each other! No 3 - if they'd managed to follow the simple instruction of sending me an email or sms in response to the advert I'd then send them a list of basic questions, how much experience, visa status, single / married, etc etc, etc. Based upon their responses would then lead me to decide whether I thought them worth while to interview. From about 65 responses I interviewed 9, shortlisted to 3, and went with the best of the 3 ....who I am VERY happy with and fortunate to have found. The thought of having to go through the whole process again at some point in the future fills me with horror so I feel your pain, but I hope my detail above how I handled the process of finding someone is helpful! Good luck. LLx edited by Loopy Lotti on 08/12/2014 edited by Loopy Lotti on 08/12/2014 <em>edited by Loopy Lotti on 08/12/2014</em>

I got one from E-City at Dubai Mall last weekend (for my hubs for Xmas). There's a huge array of mind boggling accessories but I ended up getting a remote control that straps to the wrist or handle bars of a bike etc, also a 64GB micro memory card thingy. The whole lot came to 2,694 aed which I think is about the going rate. Virgin didnt have them, the sales chap tried to sell me a competitive brand (AEE?) but a brand I'd never heard of, and the camera looked much bulker. Chatting to the E-City guy he said the Go Pro was far superior, a little cheaper, and they also stocked the other brand so I felt inclined to believe him!

http://www.monstergulf.com/ http://www.gulftalent.com/ http://www.careerjet.ae/ 98% of administration / secretarial roles are held by those from the sub continent at vastly reduced wages comparative to what a western employee would expect (can live on!!), although it's not unheard of for westerners to secure reasonably paid high level PA or EA type roles. I think you'd be better staying in the legal field and contacting all the legal co's here direct (easily googleable). But as Izzy states, applying from the UK will be tough, you'd need to be here for interviews. Could you come for 3 or 4 weeks to investigate and attend interviews??

The food is utterly spectacular & the owners & staff cant do enough for you! Check out the Trip Advisor reviews. Don't get these mixed up with Marari Beach Resort which is a short walk along the beach, nice to spend the day at.

Emergency travel document is a step forward but still angers me as doesn't take into account people living in countries like UAE where only way to exit an an ETD is to go to UAE immigration and cancel residency visa. I know there are some other countries with similar immigration rules. Maybe the overwhelming amount of people in Uk I receive passports within three to four weeks but certainly not the case for overseas renewals...they are being very disingenuous in their wording. Ah I hadn't realised the visa has to be cancelled for an ETD to be issued, that really sucks!! In my case I'll be waiting for my new borns first passport to arrive, so might just skip sending off the docs and opt straight for tears in the embassy requesting an ETD for the wee chap so we can return to the UK for part of the summer! We'll see ........ the whole situ totally sucks though!!

Well it's something ........ LLx https://www.gov.uk/government/news/additional-measures-to-meet-high-passport-demand [b'>Additional measures to meet high passport demand[/b'> From:Home Office, HM Passport Office and James Brokenshire MP History: Published 12 June 2014 Part of:Securing borders and reducing immigration, Borders and immigration and United Kingdom The Home Secretary Theresa May today announced a series of additional measures to ensure people and families receive their passports in good time for their summer holidays. Her Majesty’s Passport Office (HMPO) is dealing with the highest demand for passports in 12 years and has issued over three million passports so far in 2014. Since January, HMPO has been putting steps in place to deal with the extra demand and the overwhelming majority of people continue to receive their new passports within three or four weeks. But recognising people’s understandable concerns about delays, the Home Secretary said she is determined to do everything possible, while maintaining the security of the passport, to speed up the system. [b'> Overseas applications[/b'> Overseas customers renewing an existing passport will be able to apply for it to be extended for 12 months. This will be done by consular staff in the country where they apply and appointments can be made from Monday 16 June. No additional fees will be charged and the security of the passport will not be affected. [b'>Emergency travel documents for children[/b'> Parents or guardians of children living overseas who wish to travel to the UK will be able to apply for an emergency travel document in place of a new or renewed passport for their children. This will be available from the week beginning 16 June in all British diplomatic posts that have access to the passport database, subject to checks to confirm nationality and identity. [b'> Upgrades for urgent travel[/b'> People in the UK who have an urgent need to travel will be able to upgrade their application without charge. This means that after their application has been through the proper checks, the processing, printing and delivery of their new passport will be fast-tracked for free. To qualify, customers must be booked to travel within the next 7 days and their application must have been with the Passport Office for longer than the standard processing time of three weeks through no fault of their own. Customers will be asked to provide details – such as flight numbers and travel company – to confirm their travel plans. The ‘urgent need to travel’ upgrade is open to all those who have applied by post from within the UK and who meet the criteria above. Unless there are valid compassionate grounds, this will not apply to adults applying for their first passport, as they still need to attend an interview to confirm their identity. The upgrade is available immediately and can be requested through the Passport Adviceline. It is a temporary change and is not retrospective.

Thanks Mollydxb. I would be quite happy to wait and delay our travel but I'm back to work mid Sept & I wanted a good few weeks after returning from the UK to settle the maid in and get some routines established, so time really is of the essence :-( Half of me thinks I should chance it and send off the application immediately after the birth & pray it is turned around in time, the other half is tempted to go the British Embassy and cry / beg for an EDT ....but have little faith that would work either as no-one has any idea what would qualify as an 'emergency'. Oh what to do......the feeling of utter helplessness with something entirely out of my control is just unbearable :-( I'll keep you posted .....but in the meantime good luck with your delivery just a few weeks after mine, and getting your new borns passport swiftly :-) x

UK Gov website currently stating 'at least 8 weeks' and I'm hearing horror stories that the passports are taking even longer than that. My baby will be born on Jun 1st and when I booked our travel arrangements at the beginning of the year I figured leaving 9 & a bit weeks from birth to flight dates would be ample as at the time the UK Gov website was quoting just 6 weeks. The level of delays is causing me no end of stress and my baby is not even born yet :-( I just do not know what the answer is. From, FedupwiththeUKincompetence.com

Welcome to the new girls I’ve not yet said hi to, Gitte_82 & Mrs Champ …… really nice to see more ladies here! Gitte – another Fakih pregnancy, that’s 3 of us now, you, me & Mrs Champ!! Well my update is not brilliant, I had a massive bleed on Sunday, I’m talking a full on flood that was the brightest red & pooled in the bottom of the loo (far TMI but hey it was traumatic). I immediately left work in a haze of tears having spoken to the doc who told me to come in he’d see & scan me straight away. I work in AD so the drive back to DXB was not the most sedate nor pleasant I have to say!! Doc did say I could go to the AD clinic but I don’t know where the clinic is and I don’t know AD so couldn’t face trying to find it, nor see a doc I didn’t know. The scan (THANK GOODNESS) showed the baby is fine, and in fact this was the first time since my scan a week previous that we saw weeny arms and legs! It measured a whole centimetre larger than the previous week and the heartbeat was strong at 183 bpm. The total relief was like nothing on earth. The bleed was caused by a slight separation of the placenta from the uterus wall, where blood collects in the gap and clots then finally releases ……I cannot tell you how terrifying it was, I honestly thought it was all over. BUT the doc did not seem too worried, I’ve been told to take it very easy, no exercise whatsoever, no s#x but bed rest not necessary. Having come off the cyclogest & the white tablets just 4 days previous he’s put me back on mega progesterone doses in the form of an oral tablet 3 times daily and an injection (Gestone) every other day that I have to have in my bum (ouchy – but worth it!!). Back in 2 weeks (which will be Sun 24th) to check progress and hopefully see an improvement in the separation. I have of course Googled it like mad and I think it’s called a Subchronic Haematoma, apparently is not that uncommon and in most cases resolves itself with no further complications. Couldnt find any info on what may cause it, and I read on one site the cause is actually unknown. Trauma I could have done without really but baby is fine which is the most important thing. Carla – Ive been chuckling over the the pups / b##bs references – my there are SO many terms for b##bs its mind boggling!! :-) Also, thanks for the dating clarification :-) Virgo – that’s rubbish re your gyne! Hope you find someone you’re just as happy with soon! Molly – I’m also feeling the size of a house……I don’t think it will be much longer before I relent and buy some bigger clothes. So, roll on 2nd trimester eh……I soooooooo can’t wait to get tri 1 out of the way!! Taking the dating from Sundays scan I’m 10 wks today …..woop woop! Hope everyone else is well!! Look forward to hearing your updates. LLx

[b'>Virgo[/b'> – I feel your pain re the tiredness, it’s killing me!! Bed most nights by 8.30pm, light out 10 mins later, and I’m STILL exhausted the next day. I seem to be ok in the mornings but from after lunch onwards I’m dead! And I’m also the same with wanting nice food ALL the time! I’ve gained 2.5 kg in just under 3 weeks, it HAS to stop :-( I really do need to be a bit more sensible regarding eating and not give in every time to my craving of nice things. All my life I’ve barely had an appetite and weight gain has never been a problem for me :-(. I’m dreading my next weigh in …..lol! [b'>Carla [/b'>– sorry to hear you’ve had the flu. I had my flu jab just last night on recommendation of my doc, boy does my arm hurt today – lol!! Re the dates…..I’m as confused as you are and just go with whatever the doc says – lol, but yes I guess at 8+3 (I’m now 8+4) we’re into our 9th week. Anything to make it sound like we’re further along than we actually are ;-). Try not to worry about your lack of symptons, Im sure all is fine. Will you be getting another scan when you go in on Sat?? As for the Cyclogest ([i'>last day today – yippee!! Although I actually feel a bit nervous stopping it!). [/i'> Possibly TMI but the morning & lunchtime doses I use the back entry route as there’s no leakage and I just carry on as normal from the minute I administer, the 3rd dose I have via the front route then straight to bed. As for the estragen, I’m not entirely sure (I don’t ask many questions, I just let the docs get on with it figuring they know what they’re doing). But I figure that as I’m an IVF pregnancy my body just needs topping up on all hormones as the pregnancy is effectively forced therefore the body hadn’t naturally produced the correct amount of hormones to support the pregnancy. Saying that, I’ve just had a quick check with Dr. Google and apparently estragen supps help maintain the endometrial lining of the uterus, I never knew and now I do! :-) What advice are you getting from folk that’s driving you mad? I’m not getting any as I’ve not told anyone yet other than close family and all they say is take it easy, get lots of rest and look after myself! Hope you're all getting on ok - roll on 12 weeks eh!! <em>edited by Loopy Lotti on 06/11/2013</em>

Welcome to the thread Carla & congratulations to you too! Sounds like all is progressing well for you, I can't imagine how nervous you must be after 3 previous MC's :-( Mega baby dust to you :-) I also have had (so far) virtually no symptoms, no morning sickness at all, but I am tired ALL the time & sore b**bs seems to come and go. I felt the same wanting MS to kick in as a reassurance that all is ok, but the early scans are enough reassurance for me now ;-). Virgo - advice is to avoid spicy food?? Is that because it exacerbates the MS? I ADORE spicy food and have just sprinkled a shed load of chilli flakes over my salad ....lol :-) I hope the MS eases off for you soon though, it cant be much fun :-(

Scan yesterday was great, heart beat was 161 bpm & the bean measured 1.98 cms which doc said was good. I was a bit disappointed that the scan measured me 3 days behind at just 8 wks but doc didn't seem at all concerned, although he wants me back in 2 wks to check growth. Due date now June 14th so a day after you!. So all in all good and amazing to hear the heart beat again ;-) I'm with Dr Fakir / IVF clinic. Daman does fully cover all IVF & ICSI and associated costs with their Thiqa, Aounak & Reaaya, Premier, Thiqa Top-Up and Customized Plans, (stated within the policy docs as 'Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART))'. And yes, Dr Fakhir's clinic accepts direct billing with Daman. See: http://www.damanhealth.ae/eDamanApp/en/FormsGuides/CoverageInformation/MedicalTopics.html?div=CoverageInformation&subdiv=submenu16 (Forms & Guides section, then click on Assisted Reproductive Techniques for the full info). Sadly I only have a regional plan so I'm not covered, so we paid ;-) Just coming to the end of an IVF cycle (my 1st) with Dr Fakhir ...... I get my final result this coming Saturday and the wait is near on killing me!!

Hi everyone, hoping someone has info on where to go for an Indian tourist visit visa (British passport). I found the online form to complete (https://www.indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/) but finding concrete info on where I should take the completed form and supporting docs in Abu Dhabi is eluding me. We're travelling mid May and would like to get the visa sorted sooner rather than later. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction and thank you for any forthcoming info! Thank you :-)

You could maybe encourage him into the event (production) industry which is far more hands on and 'think on your feet' than academic. Having worked in the industry for some 20 years now (eek thats a long time) most of us oldies fell into the industry one way or another with no formal qualifications other than a practical approach, a strong work ethic and a desire to 'make things happen', there is no missing deadlines when a show is due to open!! Either of the below 2 companies (both of which I have worked extensively with over the years), are always looking for new and young talent. I'm not suggesting he becomes a standard labourer, but that's what he'd likely start as, or a 'runner', but being bright and (I assume) western he'd soon work his way into asistant site management, stage mangement, technical production etc (or what ever his forte proves to be in this arena).....the opportunities are endless. Both companies below tend to hire (to start with) on short term, or short contract basis so if he tried it and felt it wasn't for him then nothing lost. http://www.gulfcrewing.com/ - talk to Nigel Beaton, lovely chap http://www.showforce.com/me/ - not sure who's at the helm these days, it's been a couple of years since I worked with them, but they have a recruitment page on the site. Good luck <em>edited by Loopy Lotti on 16/03/2013</em>

Nope, none that we can find :-( It really is so sad ;-( Below from a supporter who's leading the campaign to save the stables ...... Dear friends, in our riding club and-stall Mushrif Equestrian Club (mushrifequestrianclub.wordpress.com/) has entered a very threatening situation: the city of the "city of dreams" Dubai, which (since our Club is exactly in the middle) is responsible national park for the management of Mushrif, forcing the Club with new contract conditions to cease all activities. The result: No school, no Park riding, ultimately not A CLUB. However, one is allowed: pony rides in the District:-( <em>edited by Loopy Lotti on 30/03/2012</em>

or the user has deleted her account herself... Is that possible? yes, i believe so - and if you do that then just your name disappears, not everything you posted. Ah yes, that would make more sense.
