if you turn the water back on (outside wall in garage) for say 1/2 hour and then turn it back off, you should be able to fill your tank up. Be careful though as even if the meter is saying it is off it may not be, and this can make the water bill continue to go up

we had the same thing, i didnt realise it was the water tank leaking and that is why my dewa bill was 17000 for 6 weeks. We moved in to villa and it was already sunk so just assumed it was a bad bodge job. LL has been good in all fairness agreed to pay bill and repairs, although repairs have/are still going on. Make sure you turn water off until you get this fixed as bills will be massive

hi sorry its been a while, it looks like there is a worldwide shortage not just uae and apparently this is the first time it has been this bad in around 10 years although they do have shortages from time to time in general. So what can be done, well there is only one manufacturer so its not a case of going elsewhere. Tanzania only actually require it as they are trying to prevent it entering the country as it is currently not something they have. So its not a case that people will get it whilst they are there more a case of the country protecting itself. At the moment Tanzania government are deciding whether in light of the situation to allow travellers to enter if they have not been to a country with exposure to Yellow fever. The barsha traveller clinic and sharjah clinic for preventative have both had limited stocks in past week but it seems a case of lucky dip whether they will give it out to you, For now we have changed our plans however may need to travel there soon, if this is the case the other rumour is that you can get the vaccine on the border, but i dont want to travel there and then find this is not the case.

Hi ARancher thanks for the heads up re what you feel should happen. In fairness the agent was great and popped round this afternoon and turned off the water. Then he spoke to ll who advised that M Plus will be round, M Plus came round and inspected it was under the garage out the front of the villa, said it will be quite a big job. They are liaising with the ll now to provide quote. I spoke with LL and he said he is happy to pay for repair and can I speak with DEWA and see if they will give an installment plan as he cant pay that amount in one go. SO verbally looks like he is happy to take responsibility, good times. It is nice to have a LL that accepts that maintenance issues are his responsibility for once, what a refreshing outcome.

Ah good news is ll is sending Emrill round. At least they will establish what the problem is, then we can have the fun as to who will pay for the bill. Thanks Belinda and Banana

Things like this always happen over bank hols - murphy's law! Maybe a company like Jim will fix it could help or offer advice as to investigating a leak. Play the "I'm a heavily pregnant hormonal lady on her own" card as much as possible. Good luck. Thanks Banana funny enough I am a Murphy so guess I have this kind of thing coming. Yep the pregnant card is currently being played with ll, agent and dewa. Lets see what the ll comes back with, the agent thinks they should pay, but him thinking that and them paying it is 2 different things.

Thanks Banana, DEWA have advised that I need to get someone to investigate it then let them know. It doesnt sound right to me and feel that the skeleton staff they have on over bank holiday may not know/want to help too much. They didnt even want to deal with me at one point in the offices near the Nissan garage as the bill is in my husbands name and I did not have a letter of power of attorney from him (he is away on business for next 2 weeks lucky him). After showing them my marriage certificate (verified by Dubai foreign affairs) and my passport showing I was under his sponsorship they reluctantly gave me a small piece of their time. I have rung the agent who is now speaking with the landlord. Happy Bank holiday to me. Just what you need just after christmas and with a baby due. Although to be fair thats not the point I would be pretty hacked off regardless of my current situation.

its difficult to decide whats best as to whether to chance his luck. Or to see if there any other options of hospitals that we can go to. I guess we will have to keep trying, and then make a decision nearer the time we still have 3 weeks but they are saying stocks may be 2-3 weeks. In Dubai terms this usually seems to mean 1 month+

Hi French Nath Firstly thanks so much, its so helpful to have someone who has got a bit of experience in this themselves. There is lots of information to take in at the moment and I really appreciate your input. Im going to get onto the insurance first thing tomorrow as sounds like a plan - they have been really great so far so hopefully this will be easy. I'm thinking the same re antenatal classes, in an ideal world I would have gone to some but its not going to be much fun with DH working away so think we might just go with the hospital show round and work closely with our Gynae - we see so much of the doctor and hospital as it is compared to UK NHS experiences by the sounds of it we are getting to know each other quite well. I think at my next appointment Im going to bring up details of what I would like and have a birth plan to hand, hopefully this will be used although I do understand that IF there is a problem this may not be able to be followed through. Breastpump is going to be ordered from UK, DH is working there for a week so he can have the fun of bringing it back to the uk - should be fun for him if immigration stop him to explain ha ha. Thanks again and Happy New Year. Hopefully I'll able to help someone else at some point, just like you have me. One good turn done for you today :-)

I also need some shelves put up and pictures but dont want to pay the high prices of Jim'll fix it etc. Any recommendations gratefully received. Thanks

no it was sera in business central towers. really said i was unhappy this proceeded them to put such a strong bleach on my head that I had tears in my eyes, I said to them in 20 years I have never experienced this type of pain when having hair done. They proceeded to then tell me it was fine and that the colour looked that way due to the lights in the salon. I did go back as I said before a day later and said Im still not happy, they then put a toner on. After this there was still no change but I said it was fine and left as they obviously did not have a clue how to do it in the first place let alone rectify it.

hi got married in 2011 just going onto dh sponsorship and have got it stamped by british embassy and now uae visa, nearly finished with the whole process now but it was fine as the person that married us was on the registry in uk. I think if you get married by a registrar it is almost always linked with british embassy from what they said. It was 180 dibs in British embassy and took 1 week
