Louve, were you downstairs paying for the classes on Tuesday, when we came down, there was such a backwards way of doing it! Were you wearing the denim dress, I think from h&m as I have it too? Ha ha, this game is so funny! If so i was the one paying as well. Don't know about you, but it all became quite real after Tuesday's class. I noticed the lovely long blonde hair, I can't say the nose. This sounds like a dating site! Hi Awayfromhome. Yes that was me laughing at yet another UAE process you shouldn't question. Did enjoy the class and as you said it did make it all very real. BTW, we should coordinate our wardrobe. Feel free to wear the denim dress on Tuesday. I'll wear something else - Love that every pregnant woman has the same outfits!

Ohh, its funny. It sounds like so many of us was there that almost everyone must be November Mums! Awayfromhome: I was at the City ante-natal on Tuesday and also at coffee meeting yesterday. Pointy nose and long blonde hair? then it is me. I guess I will see you on Tuesday then? Please feel free to poke me as I have no idea what you look like :-) I can give you the facebook details when we meet. Enjoy the weekend. I have sent hubby to a brunch and am dead jealous and wallowing in self-pity... :-)

Hi, MrsK8stan: 3 of us was at the coffee meeting, but think we need a sign or some sort of "blind date" rose to recognize each other with all the bumps around. Hope you had a good time though.

Hi all, Looking forward to seeing the ones who are coming to tomorrows coffee meeting. Will be great to meet more November mums. Had my check-up today and doctor told me that everything is looking good. Baby is growing well and is placed in the right position. We also discussed the birth and my preferences. It is all getting so close now!

Hi ladies, AlexSwe and ClaireJLT will be great to meet you on Thursday. I hope that other November mums will join as well. The information can be found at families/pregnancy & babies/EW Mums and Bumps meet ups. On Thursday it is at 10.00am-12.00 noon, Cafe Nero, Marina Mall. Not sure exactly where the cafe is but will look for other pregnant women and strollers LOL. NadiaK, shame you are not around - am sure we will meet up at one of the other events. Pets: I was curious to see if any of the dogs in my family would react to the belly when I was back home. but nothing seemed to happen - guess they are just not that clever or maybe they just didn't find it that spectacular. It was a hard competition with treats and other dogs... Am jealous of people with pets, but I just don't have a supporting lifestyle for one. Maybe it will change with the baby coming - don't think both hubby and I can have career jobs going forward. I am planning 6 months maternity leave but will work from home during so maternity leave won't be full time. Will see how it works out... Regarding maternity outfits I have just resigned.... Think I'll concentrate on comfy outfits for days in hospital and maternity leave.

Hi all, Wow, seems it is not only our bumps growing. So nice to see all these November mums to be! And a warm welcome to the new comers. I've been offline for a few weeks due to vacation back home. It was nice to see family and friends but also exhausting. Def. starting to feel the downsides of pregnancy. I had my last check up prior to my vacation and the doctor decided to move my due date. So now its November 1st. Panicking a bit as it is all getting really close! However, the way the baby is kicking my ribs already I can imagine it will be quite painful later on... However, def. all worth it!!! Also experiencing heartburn, trouble finding a good sleeping position, stomach aches, ligaments pains and just feeling heavy... Anyway, end of August is coming up and I have decided to go to the bumps and babes coffee morning on Thursday August 30th. Anybody want to join?

Hi all, Great to see more new comers to the group. Guess we will crowd the cafe once we meet :-) Also good to have some experienced moms around. I am sure I can use your advice! Aurora: Great to hear your story about Rome. I can imagine that it must have been such a special time for you guys. Our trip was def also influenced by the baby, but mainly do to heartburn and sweltering in the heat! However, Rome is absolutely lovely! AlexSwe: My husband handled the whole pram thing as this was something up his alley. As ususal when it comes to four wheels he has the decision power. LOL However, as you can probably see from the thread, the bugaboo is trendy and highly recommended in Dubai and elsewhere. (Not that often seen in Scandinavia I think) . It is supposedly the Rolls Royce of multipurpose prams. It is also a bit on the expensive side, but used ones can be found cheaper on Dubizzle. Claire and Scratch: Thanks for your feedback on family visits. We have now agreed that my mum will come mid December and the in-laws sometime after that (prob, Jan or New years) It wasn't easily dealt with. My mum really didn't understand why I needed time alone with the baby prior to her visit. Guess she has forgotten what it is like or perhaps it was different in her day. Anyway, will have to talk it through with her. I did stick to my opinion and feel happy about it. Thanks for that advice Scratch. I have appointment for a check-up tomorrow and hope to see the little one in a scan. No new cravings or complications, although my hormones seem to be acting up again. I find that really frustrating. It is so annoying not knowing whether your reactions are real or multiplied by hormones!!!!!

Hi all, Hope you are doing well. I feel quite big these days - cannot believe what a hippo I've become!!! The nice Italian food may have played a role... Welcome to the group and to Dubai Hana. I am def up for meeting at some point. Just got back from Rome and will be traveling home for most of August. But end of August is good to meet up. Thanks Silkie and Awayfromhome on the info regarding ante-natal classes. I guess I will join you Awayfromhome at the classes in September. Regarding pineapple, all I've heard is that pineapple can help kick-start labour, but only if you eat something along the lines of 6-7 whole pineapples in a day. And I have also heard that women who have tried this say it doesn't work. Would be interesting to get your doctor's explanation on it. I had severe heartburn a couple of nights in Italy. Luckily, they haven't been here since. For those of you flying out - I know most airlines allow us to travel up until a month before the due date. However, I was asked on my way back to Dubai and was happy to show them the fit-to-fly note from my doctor. I will be getting a note for my next flight as well even though it is still earlier than the airlines require.. Better save than sorry. Just thought I'd let you guys know, so you are prepared. Claire - I have slept with a pillow for quite some time now. It helps to have it between your legs and under the belly for support. Some times I also place a couple of pillows with a gap between them. This way, I can lie on my stomach because it fits into the gap. This has been great for me as I love to lie on my stomach and read. On a different note, mom and mom-in-law are itching to know when they can visit and meet the new bundle of joy. At first we told them they could come for Christmas. However, this didn't fit any of them and they are both stating they would prefer to be there for the birth. I have made it clear that we don't want visitors for the birth and for a period of time after the birth. I believe we need to settle in as a family and get to know the little one before we have full-time house guests. However, not sure how much time we need. How are you guys handling this? Would be so much easier to be in the same country where people could just pop by for an hour or so...

Hi Ladies, Loving the activity in here! Toria, don't worry about being new to Dubai. We have all been there and know exactly what you are going through. I felt the worst part was that all your usual support is out the window. No one at home can relate to your new experiences and their lives just continue without you. I found you have to be so much more active - both in finding a new network but also in maintaining your old who have stopped including you in things. It seems to be happening with the pregnancy as well. People just assume you don't want to participate in stuff cause your pregnant. annoying. At least let me make the choice - I'm pregnant not dead! ClaireJLT, my first (felt) Braxton Hicks came after a long day at IKEA. I was really tired in my back and noticed a sort of tightening around the back and stomach. In addition the stomach became really hard like a football. I don't know if you felt was a BH, but I can also get a twitching feeling if the baby has placed herself in a weird position and moves around. Aurora, we are also looking for car seats at the moment. I think this is one of the more annoying purchases. The experts recommend you don't buy used car seats or use rentals as even small bumps could have potentially ruined the seat. The bugaboo stroller only fits with infant car seats which means that you have to buy a new toddler model later on. I've heard the best ones are Maxi Cosi with Isofix for easy access in the car. Lilypad, sorry you still feel a bit uncomfortable about hospitals etc. For what its worth I haven't heard any bad mentioning about Latifa in any of the threads I've read in here. Some even swear to Latifa even though they have insurance that cover the other options. In beginning I was craving fresh orange juice. Also, I have had cravings for specific dishes and sodas you can only get at home and not in Dubai. That sucks! Luckily it has passed. I don't have any particular cravings at the moment. I try to eat a lot of fruit as snacks to keep away the hunger. On a different note, does anyone know if you have to register for the antenatal classes/birth preparing classes at CITY on Tuesday nights? Anyone of you considering taking those? Right - need to start packing - off the Rome tomorrow for vacation. Can't wait to be back in Europe and in normal weather! I'm up for a coffee morning when I'm back July 25.

Wow, what an activity :-) Welcome to Toriab82 and and Layla2012. Nice to see the group is growing. lilypad28: I was on the morning tour at City. Sorry you didn't have similar fun experience with awkward male questions :-) Silkie16: I just met my doctor at City this week, but I was really happy with the experience and will be sticking with her. Her name is Britt Clausson. I feels so good to finally having settled on doctor and hospital! Regarding weight It has been a bit of a struggle for me so far. Annoying too, as I have never had issues with my weight in my life before. I have gained 8 Kilos already at 23+3!!! I think it is due to the fact that I quit smoking a pack a day when I found out about the pregnancy. My BMI is still a healthy 22, so maybe the baby just wants some extra fat in store for breast feeding.... I am just hungry all the time... Sounds like you are all doing great and sticking to a normal weight gain. I am jealous! I don't have any particular symptoms such as warm feet or heart burn. But I have started to have Braxton Hicks contractions (spelling?) if I move around too much. The baby has been active for quite some time now. Felt butterflies and the muscle twitching feeling in week 15, the first kick in week 17 and my husband felt it on the tummy in week 19. If I have my laptop on my stomach, sometimes she can make it move. It is quite amazing and def. one of the greatest things about this whole experience. Respect to those of you who can keep the gender a surprise. We wanted to and then we went to the 12-week scan and completely changed our minds. Will probably go to a coffee morning at some point and think we may have to meet up there as a group. Just saw one of the other threads that it is against EW forum policy to make appointments...

Hi all, Hope you had a great weekend. We got a bit more baby shopping done and are now proud owners of a baby cot, madras and duvets. Feels good to get some of the shopping out of the way. You do feel kind of silly asking yourself: hmm, would baby prefer firm or soft, spring or latex madras? Seems there are too many choices in this industry Welcome Silkie16. If you want to check out City hospital, they do a maternity tour every Friday at 11 and at 4. You don't have to register just go to reception at the right time. I went on Friday and it was a great experience. Like you I have been in the process of changing doctors and hospital because I just didn't feel comfortable.I have an appointment to meet my new doctor on Wednesday and hopefully after that it is all settled and going to be City hospital for the delivery. If you decide to go on the tour, just make sure to advise your husband not to ask stupid questions. When the midwife was informing us of pain relief options, one of the fathers on the tour asked why you would choose an epidural or any other pain relief when you could just use the laughing gas... Needless to say, all the women in the room looked at him like he was a complete idiot. If my husband had asked that question I would have forced him to read a couple of books when we got home... Are your husbands more prepared? I am up for coffee - would be great to get to know you guys better

Thanks for the welcome ClareJLT AW - I hope to work a little bit from home during maternity and I am quite lucky to have a really flexible working arrangement. I wouldn't know how to start working full time (or more as it always is in my field) with a 45 day old baby. Texlady - welcome to the UAE. You must be experiencing so much now, with both baby and moving to the ME. I thought it was hard enough just moving out here! Sorry to hear about the twin, but happy to hear that one is steering up trouble. I am sure I felt mine in week 15 as well. You can tell your doctor that! I'm based in Dubai though, so don't really fit your needs.

Hi Ladies, Nice to find other November due dates. I'm due November 5 (Doctor says 6th, but we disagree... Am currently looking for new doctor) and expecting a baby girl. Just had the 20 week scan last week and was told everything is fine although I didn't get any other detailed results yet. Are you guys all expecting your first child? Ours is the first so we are quite excited and also terrified at the same time. We are planning to have the baby here in Dubai. Mainly because most airlines won't let you travel a month before your due date and secondly because my husband can't take enough time of work to ensure he wouldn't miss the whole thing... So far, we have bought a used Bugaboo on Dubizzle (lot of money saved!) and right now I'm trying to figure out if the Bugaboo bassinet will be enough for the baby to sleep in the first couple of months. Sometimes this whole pregnancy/baby thing is a mystery and you're given only small clues to figure out the plot... Hope you are all doing well and look forward to sharing this experience with you
