It's really hard to try and decide on schools, area to live, driving etc. from overseas and I totally empathise with you. We lived in Springs 3 for a year and really didn't like it found it noisy (close to the busy 4 lane road) little things always going wrong with the villa, rats! (yes always leaving little 'messages' on our bedroom balcony) and no pool. If your thinking of Arabian Ranches area to live there is a new school in Arabian Ranches 2 community (Ranches Primary School) and they have school transport from FS 1 upwards so if your nervous about driving you could use that until you were more confident. Depends what you are looking for and what you feel your children would be happy with, don't forget they will be as nervous as you, new home, new school, new friends. Maybe a smaller populated school would suit them better than a busy vibrant school, you know your children better than anyone and if they are happy then so will you be wherever you live. Good luck

I think much depends on where you intend to live. Now the schools have all returned there are many complaints regarding traffic, access, parking etc. If you are thinking of the Arabian Ranches area the new Ranches Primary School is close by as is JESS (although I think you'd be lucky to get onto a waiting list there). It may be better to find a school first then search for accommodation. Best of luck

Sorry, but having visited for a long weekend and had a friend who lived there for about 4 years, it is on my list of places I would not relocate to, but it really depends upon what your lifestyle is like. Good luck with your decision.

Give me your email address and I can have a look for you. :) Thank you Champagnelover (similar to my lovebubbles tag lol). Don't think he has experience in Quantity Surveying more Structural, refurbishment, feasibility studies, property management etc. Can't seem to inbox you my email, I'll contact administration to see why. In the meantime could you see if you can inbox me your email, I could send you his CV or his LinkedIn. Thanks for your help.

It may be worth looking at any new schools that are opening in September. Not sure where you will be living but there is a new school opening in Arabian Ranches - Ranches Primary School. Have a look at their website www.rpsdubai.com for their careers page. Good Luck:):)

Never known a school to close due to high temperatures but they do stop the children playing outside when the temperatures reach a certain level. It's not long now before the schools finish so you can start counting down

Not sure where you would be looking to live but there are a number of new schools opening. Obviously it depends on what your budget is but there is a Kings' school in Nad Al Sheba, Nord Anglia and Hartland. Good luck and don't give up hope just yet.

I agree with Countess Wrinkle that the articles on the website and Facebook page are inspiring, but at present it remains for this to become reality. Thankfully, my children are past this stage but having been through it feel that you should visit each school that ticks most of your boxes. Take your child with you and see how you both 'feel'. Big vibrant schools can bring out the best in some children whereas other children thrive more in a smaller, more personal environment. Of course all parents want what is best for their child, but some need to realize that not every child is going to be a 'high achiever', become the next 'David Beckham' or Tiger Woods and need to consider this too. So don't just look at the schools who 'promise' the world on websites or social media, this just means that they have a large advertising budget! An SMT with a vision is great but it needs to be seen in action to evidence that they can make their vision work. Best of luck and I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you and your little one :)

I notice that you are on a visitors visa, so would you be looking for a job where a visa is part of the package? If so, you may find it difficult most companies ask for an applicant to be on husbands/fathers sponsorship. It's all about the package and if needed a visa then the overall salary may be less.

I lived in South Wales for more than 25 years and would very much recommend the area. If you have transport being on the M4 corridor opens up a lot of options. In Cardiff you have tecniquest, shopping, theatres, castles, Big Pit (yes a colliery museum) etc. Near Bridgend you have Margam Park which is beautiful, Ogmore is beautiful with a little village of all thatched cottages. Then you have Swansea and the Gower, Tenby, as well as being close to the breacon becons with the waterfalls and the Penderyn distillery yes they make whisky and gin in Wales!! Whatever you decide enjoy, but be sure to consider indoor and outdoor activities as we all know it rains a lot in Wales! ;)

Do these schools have nurseries, it maybe that they are going to move their FS 1 children to the Nursery section of the school I think the new DBS starts at year 1, I'm sure their website recommends you to contact their nursery in Springs/Meadows for FS 1 and FS 2.....

The first person you need to advise is the school registrar in admissions. They will then pass the information on. I would also double check the financial situation as dependent on the school it could be that they will keep the first terms fees/deposit cheque, but check this with the Registrar when you contact them, the sooner you do it the more likely you'll get your money back. If you are moving to another school in Dubai then the schools will sort the transfer certificate out as this is done electronically via the KHDA, however if your moving to another country/UAE then the Registrar will again advise you what needs to be done. Good luck.
