Iron? What's an iron? :D the electronic thing that the maid breaks every six months! I know exactly what you mean. And that's not the only thing that breaks regularly. :(

You can call Nakheel on 8006267 or 04-4278400 (not sure which one is the latest number). They will provide it for you free of charge. They can also help with any other questions you might have related to your house or possible maintenance issues.

Hi, I have worked in HR for about 14 years and I would say practice varies. It is not unusual for a future employer to want evidence of currebt pay details. However, this would normally be during or post offer stage. I would also say you need to ensure you and them are comparing like-for-like in terms of overall package as well as pay. Which brings me onto your question about them using your part-time salary as a basis for calculating (potentially, if this is why they are asking for it). If you decide to share your current details with them at the appropriate stage then I would show your current actual salary based on your current number of hours and then show what this means for the hours you will be working in new full time role - so simply pro-rate it upwards if that makes sense. This will ensure they interpret what you are giving them appropriately. Also, it is only relevant to compare current with offer if the job is the same/at a similar level. Remind them of that too if its not. Hope this helps. S Thank you. That does help indeed. I will make sure to mention the hours. The only thing is that they haven't actually offered me a job yet and now I need to ask my employer for a salary certificate. :(

I have worked in HR and Recruitment for 5 years and have only had one client ask this of a potential candidate What would be your recommendation? I am currently working part time and applying for a full time position. It doesn't really compare. Do they want it to base their offer on it?

I dont think your current salary is any of their business or their auditors. That's what I thought. Especially that they haven't made me an offer yet.

I love Leroy Bell even though he might not seem as confident as some of the others. I think it adds to his charm. His voice is fantastic and he looks amazing for his age. I love Drew because she has her own style and is unique. She does sound pretty much the same every week but that's her style. Don't think that's a negative thing. And I agree, she's still a baby so there's lots of room for her to grow. I like Rachel because of her "cute factor", her voice is amazing but I don't think Simon is bringing out the best in her. Josh is real and passionate. Didn't like his facial expressions much either though. Astro is definitely talented but there's something I don't like about him. Not exactly sure what it is. Chris Rene ... I love him because I think he knows that even if he doesn't win, his only way is up. He has made it through tough times and can now see and believe that he can make it much further. I don't like Melanie Amaro. She has a great voice but she's just another Whitney or Mariah. There's nothing unique about her. Don't like Lakoda Rayne. I don't see any connection between them. They still seem like 4 individual singers. They didn't even know each other before. How can they expect them to start a real career together? Stacy has a great voice but I don't think she has been singing the right songs, nor were her outfits right. Not sure what Nicole is trying to do with her.

You can not bring her over on a visit visa as the Philippines authorities won't let her travel. My friend tried it and failed. She then tried letting her fly to KL and from there to Dubai but they wouldn't let her travel there either. She would have to bribe the authorities. There was just an article about that in the paper: http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/visa/filipino-groups-call-for-end-to-travel-restriction-1.887434

you can get all the info/prices re virtuezone on www.vz.ae You dont need a sponsor to setup a fz company but if you want to actively sell goods into the UAE you will need a distributor as fz companies are not allowed to sell goods into the UAE from the fz direct. edited by Shinynewpony on 11/07/2011 I second that. You will need a partner company outside of the FZ with a general trading license.

I've also used US Postal Service and have been very happy. You can even track your shipping online and they send you notifications when it arrives at the post office in Dubai. It takes exactly 10 days. They only ship to P.O. Boxes though and you have to pick the boxes up at the main post office in Karama.

That is not correct anymore. Emiratis now pay both water and electricity but at a lower rate than expats. I'm not sure about the exact percentage though.

Al Sharafi Upholstery in Satwa. They are on the road with all the pet and gardening shops that leads to the Iranian Hospital. Don't have contact details with me right now. But I used them before and was very happy.

I hear you and I know exactly what you're going through. Don't beat yourself up. It is not easy. It really helps me to walk away and take a deep breath like MrsMopp said. When you are calm, the situation is under control much faster. Also, choose your battles. Sometimes it's just not worth fighting for. Stick to your core values and principles and be consistent. No is No ... don't ever change your mind because they get it very fast and use it next time. But for some little things try to let it go. With clothes I found it helps if you let him choose something together with you early in the morning before the hectic starts or the night before. And you can guide him a little if it's important to you. If you don't want him to wear certain shoes, make them invisible. ;)

Well, in my case Emirates is double the price of Etihad and that is just not justified. I think I can live with a few small hiccups and will take enough snacks with me.

Their prices are better than Emirates and so is their service. They give the kids little packs with activity books etc. Their food for kids is very nice and they are generally friendly. We take Etihad back to Geneva and even though Emirates flys to Geneva direct now I will continue to use Etihad. That sounds great. Last year I didn't find Emirates especially child friendly. And I wasn't too happy with the food as half of it was sweets and chocolate. How about inflight entertainment in terms of TV program?

I have another question to the subject: I noticed that the booking is cheaper when I start from Dubai instead of Abu Dhabi. Do I have to take the bus then? Or can I do the check-in in Dubai and still go by car to Abu Dhabi?

They have a Kefir drink at the Organic Store in The Greens or Dubai Mall. It's a bit pricy though I find. I haven't found the grains anywhere yet.

I used them for several years until 2010. I had the same maid all these years and loved her. But on the few occasions I had replacements, I wasn't always happy. Overall I can't complain about them.

As an introduction you might want to consider a child minder. I know a lady in the Springs who does childminding. She's UK educated and gives great educational support as well as arts and crafts and social skills. As she only has a few children there, your child will get special attention and it's a subtle introduction before going to a nursery/school.
