As the rules change regularly, I would suggest you ask the Immigration department directly. That's probably your best option.

Well, you have a point there Genie and that makes sense but I still find it shocking that adults just stood by and let it happen. Even knowing that she had vomited. So sad and I hope she recovers well.

I can not believe there is that amount of violence at such a young age: http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/education/scale-of-violence-shocks-family-1.1013270

On the estate agent's website which has properties for rent in JVT, it mentions shared swimming pools. Is that just not going to happen, then? There were initial plans but Nakheel has now confirmed there will be NO swimming pools.

No facilities yet but 5 min. to Choithram in Springs 7 and a few minutes more to Spinneys in the Meadows. There won't be any swimming pools but parks and a few shops are supposed to be finished by June. It's a lovely community to live in even though there are not so many facilities. Villas are definitely spacious, kitchen a bit small but workable. Independent villas have huge gardens and DEWA can get high depending on what you are planning in your garden. Town houses are slightly bigger in floor plan but gardens much smaller.

There is a Facebook group for JVT. Check it out here https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/jvtringle/ and post your question. I'm sure there are other people that went through the same.

I would definitely go to the police to ensure she not only gets sent home but also gets banned. She should not be allowed to work for anyone else. No matter how desperate her situation is, it doesn't justify her stealing. And who knows how much she has really stolen from you. Have you checked your jewellery and other items in the house? If you only have her sent back to the Philippines, she will be back in no time stealing from someone else.

Some offer a modernized version of the traditional hamam experience. I'm looking for the authentic moroccan bath with black soap scrub and in a hamam setting.

I have a friend who thought she found the perfect maid, paid 10,000 Dirham to the previous sponsor to "bail her out" and did her visa. After about a month this "perfect" maid found a better job with less work and left my friend. AngelinaBallerina is right. It is illegal and shouldn't be done. Sadly it seems to be common practice. And on top of that, maids try to find someone to bail them out just to move on to the next best opportunity that comes along. I would really think twice about that kind of deal.

Often times the agency won't agree to release her and won't give the NOC letter. If they refuse, there is nothing you can do but to wait until her contract finishes and hope they release her without ban. The maid has to speak to her manager. If they agree to release her, you can do a transfer of the visa with her staying in the country. But again, it's a matter of negotiation.

In my opinion, it is better to stay at home and take care of your kids by yourself, IF you can afford it. I agree. But it's also a very personal decision. I would rather stay home with my kids if I could.

As far as I know, KHDA regulation says they can only take 500 AED. But some school might have an exceptional agreement such as Repton.

You really do need to lay down the law though. If you don't want her interfering with your life you MUST tell her. If you don't, it will fester and become a huge problem. If she changes your children's clothes tell her you were happy with what they were wearing and she is not to change them without talking to you first. Tell her not to plant new plants. Next time she comments on your clothes tell her you are happy with your choice and don't need other's opinions. don't let her overstep the mark. I agree with Sandy Dogg. Do it right from the start! Don't forget a lot of them come from different experiences. They have to learn that each house is different, each "Madam" is different and there are different requirements. Sitting her down and establishing what your expectations are, would be the best. Like for example, set particular rules when it comes to the kids.

Personally I don't think there is a big difference. I would always opt for local water as it hasn't been transported around the world. I prefer Al Ain as well. If you want to know a bit more about Fiji Water, check here: http://www.ehow.com/about_5093277_fiji-water.html

Unfortunately the cut off date is enforced by the schools and they rarely look at the individual child. They use the cut off date as power tool. I'm facing the same issue. I already spoke to KHDA and they don't seem so strict about it. If the school recommends for your child to be in a different grade/year, KHDA will not oppose that decision. It's a matter of fighting with the school.

The Aunt should be arrested for child neglect! How can you sleep while a 3 year old wanders the house alone? I absolutely agree. This is unbelievable and keeps on happening here. When you choose to have children, you have a responsibility. And they left her ALONE before and she was saved. How could this happen again? And why were there no repercussions the first time?

Paying the current sponsor is an illegal practice and I wouldn't do it. A friend of mine did it and about a month later the maid told her it's too much work in her house and she wants to work for someone else. She had actually already found someone else to work for. Some look for someone to "bail them out" and then they move on. If you decide to go ahead, you should make it very clear to her that if you pay to get her out of there, she has to commit to work for you for a certain period of time or she has to pay this money back.

You should go to the Immigration department and get a stamp. I believe it's called "out pass". Or they can transfer your existing residence visa to the new passport. I wouldn't risk just going like that. Unless you are holding a Western passport that generally doesn't require a visa, then you can just come and go and they will stamp your passport on exit and entry.

Well, she got the least amount of votes ... I found her reaction with throwing herself on the floor a bit overreacted. Especially when she said a few minutes before "It's ok, I'm fine". I think she was convinced Marcus would have the least amount of votes.

Don't beat yourself up. Being a mother is a learning process. We are not born to be a mother and know everything. And we all make mistakes and learn along the way. I would suggest you take her to a doctor or a hospital. It does sound like it's the milk/dairy but it's best to have a doctor check her out. They can give you further advice on how to proceed and it will give you peace of mind.
