This will be a tough one as many of the best schools seem to limit the number of non native speakers they take in. I would suggest a mid-tier school to improve her English (if needed) and then place her on a waiting list/assesment list for a higher level school in the meantime. Your main issue will be to ensure she's not "brought down" by a poor level of English in the school you choose at first...

You really won't need a debenture at Kings... The indemand schools will be full by now but you can get on the waiting list. The American schools have a strict priority systems which may (or may not) work in your favour but worth a try. The better British schools (you haven't listed them all by a long shot) do have waiting lists but worth joining a few if that's what you want. I would urge you to visit both of the schools you've mentioned...you might be very surprised at the state of them and the location. Sorry don't mean to be negative but it's important that you don't apply blind.

The top schools are all very good and you won't go far wrong in any of them Nord Anglia (NAS), Foremarke (though be careful where you would go onto after you've finished there...Repton looms!), Gems Wellington, The original Kings (do be very careful with the new ones though...), JPS, and others mentioned above. We're at NAS and it's great and is a through school which is important for us. I would suggest that at this young age travel time is a BIG consideration, you don't want to be driving all day or have your little one on a bus for ages. Equally be very clear on what you want and what is right for your child. "Best" is a difficult term at this age and the UK curriculum is interpretted in a number of different ways here!

Have you called some schools to see if you can reserve an fs2 place for the following year? Might put your mind at rest.

If this is a genuine post then I'm pretty sure you would have already discussed this with the school. I look forward to hearing about what the school had to say and what was resolved. Emphasis on "if" There have been a lot of very dodgy school related posts on here recently. This one smells all wrong to me. "I have heard..."

This happened to my mum. She used "volume" shampoos for a number of years and they did work reasonably well. Also think about having it restyles (a very brave step!) to suit/hide the way that your hair is. I don't think there is anything reliable that can be done to stop it, let's face it, if there was men would be spending huge amounts to stop their own issues.

A few nerves are quite normal... But longer term jitters, is this what she really wants to do? Or does that matter in this particular situation (I'm not commenting on the rights or wrongs of it just observing that this is sometimes the reality).

Heard nice things about Childrens garden from a couple of pals. Gentle, good language programme and nice environment. They are happy. I don't know anything about Kangaroo kids I'm afraid (good or bad). Sorry...not too much help in terms of a comparison I know.

I think it's GREAT that you are prepared to talk about this. It's an issue for all of us and one that's too easy to ignore or put away. I admire you greatly for this and I'm quite sure you're not a one dimensional person (though I can't dance!). The more we talk about these very real issues then the better it is. As I said before...it's come knocking...but you'll send it packing!

Men have hormone issues too...and theirs cause wars. I think this lady is falling into a very dangerous trap and I wouldn't want my girls to do the same (or listen to this claptrap). Of course men and women are different, and I love that, but I'm not going to make or use any kind of excuse for being a woman as none are needed.

I have some advice with kittens. Don't skimp on cat litter if it's for your villa office and they can't go in and out easily. The good stuff really really REALLY reduces the smell as they get older. Not the most cutesy post i know!

A lot of people just enjoy being "the forum police". This one isn't too bad but it does happen everywhere. When I was younger this kind of thing would have bothered me a lot more but I think, like most women, i've got a lot more confident with age and now I just laugh. I read the forum for a lot longer than i chose to post, just as soon as we knew we were moving over. There is a lot that's useful here, and a lot from people who might need to get out more.

We really think it's superb and the children are well supported. There is a thread under something like "new schools which opened this year" with a few other replies. The atmosphere of the place is what really makes it and I think is what the children appreciate. They have taken a little time with some routines (was week three before a levelled reading book came home for example) but compared to our previous school...it's streets ahead. In terms of support the pastoral system and the approachability of the teachers and school leadership is excellent and overall communications is excellent (there was a problem with ballet class but they sorted it out). They don't really have a special needs programme as such other than some support for G&T (though this has only just begun to get going) so if that's what your refering to you might want to talk to them about exactly how this might or might not work. We're very happy indeed and are prepared to forgive a couple of teething issues as long as they get sorted out, which so far, they have.

Very very sad news that Buckle up in the Back will be no more. Lesley wrote a status update on the facebook page, stating that with a heavy heart, she was shutting down the campaign, due to running costs, time and other reasons. I think it's shocking that there is STILL no law that states children must be strapped in, in a vehicle, use child seats etc. There is no doubt in my mind that Buckle Up has saved countless lives with the education and awareness programs. Lesley deserves much praise and thanks for all that she's done over the years. I couldn't agree more. She deserves huge praise for this and I don't doubt that she has saved lives which is something to be deeply proud of.

There also seems to be a lot more of the hyper aggresive types on the road. I was almost killed this weekend but someone overtaking on the hard shoulder and then cutting back in front... I had the children in the car and was really upset. I'm shaking thinking about it.

Diverse are excellent. Two of mine have been to their camps and we also went to their big annual show...genuinely superb. They do some work in certain schools (we're lucky they come to our DD school). We do a mixture of school activities and ones that are done by groups like Diverse. I think they also do weekend sessions at their own center. Can't speak highly enough of them though.

One of the little known things about stress and anxiety is that it can cause symptoms related to balance. It can even cause symptoms similar to blocked ears (like feeling under water). There symptoms are not uncommon but little commented on outside of the sphere of medicine. For you to have sudden sensations of vertigo is not at all uncommon in patients suffering chronic stress. Equally chronic stress is often commonly not "felt" as stress by the patient. It might well be that what you are suffering is not a classical "panic attack" but a closely related, and indeed overlapping, syndrome that is related to long term stress. The "Ear Issues" affect balance and lead to the feeling of spinning and disorientation. They are often but not always accompanied by back or neck pain. Massage of head/neck/scalp can help immensely but is a medium to long term solution. Equally looking into other areas of relaxation and stress relief (exercise being the best). From a Doctor I know well...

Be careful in JVC. Some of the appartments are being rented out before being handed over fully by the developer. This can cause real problems. My advice would be to check EVERYTHING very carefully indeed.

We're actually in the same position. As I said below, new school and I'm sure the children are just settling in. We also get the daily email and find the teachers very friendly and (when not busy at main drop off and pick up times) very willing to talk. Have a quick chat if there are any concerns. I'm sure they will listen if we're talking about the same place!

How long has he been in school? If it's the first few days that will be all about establishing routines and showing them where the toilets are at that age I would guess? Young children do take a few days to learn these things and to feel safe. That's the most important thing before any teaching begins.
