What do you mean cancel it? The Ejari certificates are only valid for 12 months and linked to the tenancy contract. That's what we assumed but on the system it is marked as reserved for the landlord and only he can unblock it apparently. I have tried to register our lease but was told that the landlord had to cancel the previous one even though it had expired.

My landlord is a GCC National and has not cancelled the previous Ejari on the system at the Lands Department. He is from a well connected family. I have been trying to get him to do it but he is always travelling. In the meantime, our housemaid and my daughter's visas have just expired and we cannot renew their visas without the Ejari. Does anyone have any suggestions?! There doesn't seem to be a way round it. It is getting quite urgent but the landlord doesn't seem to share the urgency.

By way of update - if you lose your driving licence there is no longer any need to get a police report. Just go to the RTA with passport and visa copy and original Emirates ID. It was very easy.

Don't worry - I got my Ipad from Sharaf DG. But if anyone wants kids bikes, arts and crafts materials, etc then I'd recommend Dragon Mart. Probably not the place to buy DH's Chrisrtmas present though!

Thank you so much. I went to Dragon Mart last night and it took a while but I did find timer switches eventually in a shop in the main section near the entrance - not in the lighting/electrical section. I didn't have time to browse but what a huge range of shops they have there. Is Dragon Mart the cheapest place in Dubai to buy an ipad?

Pest control will spray the drains near your villa so actually worth doing and I find National Pest Control to be quite reliable. Sometimes self help fixes aren't enough.

I don't know about there, but there's a place at the same place where they have Kindermusik classes near Kings School and another at Jumierah Beach Hotel (where you get nice views) and both are fine.
