Hi, we were in a very similar situation to your friend. I was 14/15 weeks pregnant when we married here, but we were in Abu Dhabi. The hospital wouldn't issue us with a birth certificate, so we had to go to court. My husband went the first time and was told to come back the following week. He went back again and was told to come again with myself a couple of days later. We were obviously really worried at the time. They were giving us documents to sign in Arabic, so we had no idea what was going on. We did request a translator but that wasn't much help. Eventually after signing a few papers, they issued us the certificate. I kept a copy of all the documents and had them translated afterwards, they basically were just making sure that my husband was the father and that he would take care of myself and our child. That's what we were signing for. Hope this helps!

Oh excellent thanks :) I didn't realise, as last year in Abu Dhabi they closed all the fun city's and other areas until the evening.

Thanks for your replies :-) We have decided to go for a townhouse in JVC. Yes I do drive, so hopefully we won't feel too isolated. Can anyone advise as to how long it will take to get an internet connection and Satellite TV up and running please? Who is the better service Provider, Du or Etisalat? Thanks in advance :-)

Thanks for the info :-) Yes I do drive, I have one more question - I am hoping to put my DD in a nursery school in Jumeirah. I am just wondering how long it would take me to get there in the mornings leaving around 8am? Do you get a lot of traffic during rush hour? Many thanks.
